RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I guess they'll save a ton of money if they're only running 40 scareactors around the park instead of staffing 5 or 6 scarezones. But it definitely presents a lot of challenges. I didn't really feel that the Scare is Everywhere concept was very successful and was glad to see them abandon it after one year. For me, last year's scarezones were pretty close to perfect (they were touch and go with the staffing, but the theming, concept, etc was on the money).

I guess we'll see...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Doing some rough math, they actually have more people with the hordes than the scare zones.

Lets say on your average night, each scare zone had 5 people. With only five scare zones there's only 25 people each night roughly, a huge decrease from 40.

This is a new one. It should match perfectly with Fiends as well as a little something else that has yet to be revealed. Technically it doesn't fit very well with Thirteen but I guess I'm willing to give them a pass seeing that you enter Thirteen outside of Ireland.

There were actually about 10 people per scare zone... So it's around the same size... But Honestly I think in order for the concept to work you are gonna need atleast 3 groups. I can understand why They went for 2, because really there's two main sides to the park, But... They could use a third one, even if its a smaller unit to fill in empty space. If they have the two main groups working across the park clockwise or counter clockwise, and then a smaller group going "renegade", running around in different areas with no real pattern, It would make the rotation seem more random, and make it darn near impossible to miss a horde.

And "The Scare is Everywhere" was one of my least favorite years. I remember going on a saturday and only seeing a grand total of 5 actors outside of the mazes throughout the entire park.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Now that I am thinking about it they may actually have 80 people hired to do the hordes. The people working Howl O scream work 30 minutes on and 30 minutes off. There are 2 groups for each horde well at least that's how it worked back in 2006. I loved it I worked on the haunted train ride and it could only get around so fast before it was time for my next break and I believe it is still the same way. :D

So if half of them are on break at any given time, that's still forty people on the clock in two groups of twenty...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I would say 7 - 10 in a scare zone max. As for breaks for scare actors, since they are only going to work about 4 - 5 hours a night, each person will get one 30 minute break and that is it. If they only work four hours they might not even get a break. Saving money right there already. Also Zach did say 20+ in a group. So there may be more than just 20 scare actors in a group. The number may be close to 20 but it could be more.

I don't see it as a saving money thing, because they still have to hire large group of people, and Scare Squad Auditions have been going a lot. Its not just the one or two they usually have but more like 4 or more. So I think we can see a lot of scare actors this year.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

^ Yeah, I think the most people I ever saw was 7 in Grin&ScareIt. There were maybe 5 in Unleashed, possibly 4....

Like others have said though, I'm hoping the hordes have a "timekeeper" of sorts, who know when the "show" for each country starts and is supposed to end. Of course, none of this would be posted, but I would hope there would be coordinated efforts to have the hordes move at set intervals after their stops in each country.

I'm really excited for Rhinefeld too. At the very least they're integrating a new theme rather than rehashing an overused one. I hope they do the corridor/walkway from the candy shop to the main fountain really well.

Also, I know this isn't a popular opinion, but I'm actually really glad they've taken out Jack/Monster stomp for at least a little while. I get that people love the show, but for me, both shows were tired. Dig It Up I'm actually excited for. THe Vampire show?- I'm reserving my judgement until later.

Paid 15 minutes and off the clock 30. Those are doubled if there is a noon-close maze and the performer is there all day.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet, some things on the Howl O Scream Website has been updated. Still nothing on the Vampire show or the Greenhouse maze.

I do not think that has been posted. Kinda odd given the daily posts by users making an inquistion as to its status.

There will be.

Thanks for confirming this. I know you had mentioned it a few pages back and I wasn't sure about it.

Do we know for sure where the entrance to LotG house will be? I know Rhinefeld/behind the side of DarKastle, but any word on the official signage? ( by that I mean Bitten's is in the archway to the Black Forest area, 13's is at the back area near CoSull., etc.) For some reason my brain keeps putting a possible entrance at the "trash" area between the shops that is sometimes open as a cut through (but usually isn't). It would also make it visible enough to attract the public.

Zach- what would you say to the statement that the Vampire show is similar to Frankenrock but with a different lead? (I have no source here- just speculation on my party fyi)

Honestly don't know where exactly the entrance will be other than that you will be entering in Rhinefield and the house will be located in the parking lot next to Das Festhaus. When I looked on Google Maps I found 2 or 3 places that looked like they connected quite nicely. I guess we'll see. Also, I have to wonder where you'll be exiting at.

I've been specifically told not to expect Frankenrock with Vampires. It sounds like they're keeping the details of this show pretty quiet. :-/

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I'd assume the exit would be routed right next to the entrance (similar to Fear Fair), or maybe they could connect though the black forest dining area somehow and you'd exit out with those exiting from Bitten.
