RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

We had a statue as well. It was just right up front, the moment you walked in the gates. So it was great if you were one of those people who get's their picture taken right up front. (Unless they decided to cut out the statue in the picture.)

I really hope they replace catacombs with something good.. If they do.. Wish it was coming back -__-

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Thanks swift, sorry I mean Zachary! Confirmed my first initial guess. Now what will be interesting is how they pull it off. Looking at the area, the main objectives that I see for myself is 1) Hidding surrounding objects to isolate the area, 2) Create a pathway for guests to go into and out of the maze without disrupting normal employee routes and work too an extent, 3) creating a maze that takes you out of a back area into a haunted scene.

So is this the Location of the rumored "Alone" type house ? and are they still going to put a house where Catacombs was?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

That's a huge spot for an "Alone" type house. I wonder if they're going to put the "Alone" house where Catacombs was?

I was thinking they may only use a section of the parking lot and not the whole area.

As for Catacombs, I can see them adding a new house still based on skeletons, and more than likely related to the Black Plague rather than the underground catacomb tunnels.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Maybe they're going to go ALL OUT with the "Alone" style house. I was kinda thinking about this after the new house location was revealed:

I have a feeling they're going to continue with their fairy tale/Black Forest kick they have going. After Verbolten, Entwined, and Wunderbarn, it seems likely they may continue with the Forest motif. Let's get real first, Bitten and Hunted have overstayed their welcome. I could see them keeping 2 houses in Oktoberfest, but two completely new ones. I could see the parking lot house becoming the fairy tale one (obviously I'm just speculating here, putting it out there what I would like to see) and Festhaus Park becoming the up charge. Especially if they try to do a replicate of Alone. It was set it a house. It would be easier to add some façade to the old DF station(s) and use those. The field where HH used to be could be used in some way, too. But, let's be honest, our park's HOS event is attracting more and more people every year. If they want to do and up charge house, I think it would need to be big and on a large scale. And maybe it won't actually be an "Alone" style house. I could see them sending in groups at a time, not just one person. There is a lot of potential to do a really scary single-person/group house in there. My hopes would be that they could make it an experience, not just a maze. Send you through a storyline. (I didn't go through Alone, so I'm not exactly sure how it was set up, I'm just basing off the reviews I've read)
In the parking lot, they could do a fairy tale or Black Forest type of thing. I could see the entrance/queue line being the actual Black Forest Picnic Pavilion and it'll bring you around the backside of the Festhaus into the maze, with the big gate by the smoking area as the exiting point.

These are my hopes and food for thought for y'all. Comments?

Well, I will say that Hunted is probably done-- since they didn't bring it back last year, I doubt they'd bring it out again.

As far as Bitten, I do think it will stay for one more year :/......I know it's already been talked about in this thread (or maybe at the end of last years?) so you may want to look at that.

I do like the idea of the Black Forest house, but I would have it over near Verbolten. For the *possible* Alone house, I don't, however, think that they would go all out. I would think they would make the Alone house something smaller because smaller = less people in the house at a time.

Finally- and this is more of a question to Zach or any HOS insiders- do we have any OTHER information regarding the parking-lot house-- is it just going to be one house, or will there be something like a scare zone a la Harvest Hollow post-house?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

I haven't been on the forums long, so I'm sorry about repeating the Bitten conversation, there's a lot to catch up on. But as far as Bitten goes, they've had it for, what, three HOS seasons now? Thy need to either ditch it or re-Vamp it (see what I did there :p). Personally, I don't see it returning, but the park an do whatever it wants to. For the Alone style house, honestly I think they'd have to do it to a medium to big scale. They don't have to use both stations, but I think it'd make a good fit in FP. I mean, since the park does mostly rely on locals, they have to at least make it enticing enough for people to actually pay to do it. Especially since most of them are season pass holders, I don't think a lot of them want to pay to go through a smaller than average house.

For the parking lot maze, I highly doubt it'd be a scare zone type thing just because it's out of the way for a lot of people and they'd have to enclose it in some way so the guests don't see the employees going to and for and the vans and backside of DK and all of that. It'd have to be a house.

And if there were a black forest house, the only place where it would even remotely be close to Verbolten would be FP. There's no other way for that to happen. And the employee parking lot is right there next to the Festhaus, so...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Just a clarification: I'm 100% positive Hunted was not there last year. Bitten was the only HOS attraction in FP.

Anyway, Bitten should go- absolutely. However, the fact that they added 3 brand new houses last years makes me lean more in the direction of them keeping it than not. I could seem them redoing it-- that would be their best bet at creating something out of nothing.

I really have to disagree with you on the Alone house at agree more with pandorazboxx in that *IF* they get an Alone house, it would be on a smaller scale. The park is well aware of the massive crowds during HOS. By making one large house that only takes in one (or, as you suggested, small numbers) of people leaves hundreds more milling around the park when they could be standing in line. If, instead, they do the 2 big houses in FHP and leave them as "regular" (non-paying) houses, then you have a bunch of people occupied with something rather than crowding the walkways.

I do agree that the parking lot maze has to be a house though- I was just considering the possibility of something extra (even a second house), but I suppose if they design it like FearFair/Cursed and have it switch opened/closed building, then they could maintain the illusion fairly. I honestly wish they would have chosen somewhere else to make this maze, but I'll take something rather than nothing.

As far as the Black Forest theme, I was just saying I would rather have it in a semi-permanent location (a la Bitten or Sleepless Hollow, both of which retained their houses for a few years each) rather than have it in the parking lot. I realize FHP/the lot aren't far apart, it's just a personal preference.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Yeah I realized that after I posted. I went on the website just to make sure, that's why I deleted that part.

I'm not saying you're wrong, I was just thinking if you have a bigger house, you'd be able to send them in bigger groups (but not too big) and possibly even closer together, depending on how the layout went. Honestly, I could see them just keeping one house there. I mean, they did it last year. Plus, I think it'd be overkill to have three houses in one location. Four if they were to being back HH (which I doubt, but is always possible). On the train, you can see that Bitten decorations are still up, however they're easily taken down (I would assume).

Fear Fair and Dead Line are for sure coming back. 13 is half and half with me. Cavern of Darkness only lasted one year and 13 was more of a celebration of the 13th year, so I can see that one just completely going. Catacombs and Bitten obviously should be on the chopping block, but if 13 goes, Catacombs would *have* to stay so there isn't such a huge gap with nothing housewise (unless, of course, RPT is the site of a new house). Or 13 stays and Catacombs goes...either way. If Bitten stays and the parking lot house is the rumored up charge house, that's the only new house (that we know of). Even if there is no up charge house, the parking lot house would be the only new one. I think it'd be a poor decision to only have one new house and it be an up charge.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2012 Rumors

Well thank ya. Just a note based off of what I read. I know we already know that it'll be in the parking lot, but the bumper cars could never be used. There is an office behind the kiddie cars that is in use all day from what I've seen, if there had been one in there, they'd have to completely relocate. And that'd be difficult seeing as how what I've seen there, when employees were going in and out, there are like three computers and other useful looking stuff in there. I'm still holding out that we are all wrong and both Catacombs AND Bitten will be gone :D wishful thinking, I know
