I might be going to BGW this weekend. I have a few questions.

As you can tell by my username, I'm a KD fan. Since most of you like BGW better than KD, be honest. Which Halloween Event is better, Halloween Haunt at KD or Howl-O-Scream at BGW?

Best House? Scarezone?

Worst House? Scarezone?

How are the lines for houses and rides (after dark)?

Are the fast passes worth getting?

Which rides are closed during Howl-O-Scream?

It has been covered 100000 times in this thread. Take a good glance through the thread with posts beginning around October 1, 2011.

As far as which event is better… There can be another thread for 2011 started on that. It DOES NOT need to be discussed in this thread anymore. This thread was derailed for a few days with posts pertaining to KD.

^Where are you getting that guest information from? Just curious. I'd like to hear more stats along those lines... Or maybe even reasons why guest are have a lower satisfaction.

Ok...I feel like such a noob asking this, but I never go on Saturdays--

The earliest my cousin and I can get there is 3:30. (we both have passes- it is the only day that she can go.

Best guesses on chances of us getting in?

(i'm thinking around 30%?)

If you are getting off of the interstate at that time then more than likely you will not get in. Last weekend it hit capacity around 4pm. The people who got through the tolls last were in line since ~3. (source, cousin and others)

Protip: Don't ever take the BGW exit.

If I had taken it last weekend, I wouldn't have gotten into the park. Take 64 to the 199 exit, take 199 to 60, and enter the park via route 60. You can easily skip at least 75% of the line to get to the toll booths entering this way.

I believe it. I came off 60 at about 4 and was able to get in though.

I took exit 247 and caught Jefferson, Which turns into Merrimac Trail. The interstate usually gets backed up right after that exit due to everyone trying to catch the Busch exit. So I take this exit and then Circle back around to Pocahontas Trail once I get to it.

^^
Swift, I was thinking of doing just that. Glad you were able to confirm that it's a possibility to get in from that exit.

Thanks for the help guys.

The weather is suposed to be nice on Saturday and its close to Halloween. I am expecting it to fill up quick. I plan on going to the park againon Saturday. I hope to get there around 12:30, but you may or may not be able to get in at 3:30 .

BGW was not prepared for the crowds tonight. They did not use the parking lots across the street and when we rode Apollos at 7 pm, the parking line was to the interstate and all parking lots close to the park were full. They could have had many more people in the park if they had the trams to go across the street. What a way to loose money, but it made it not too crowded in the park.

Way to lose money? To me it would seem they gained money over what they had anticipated. I am sure you have no idea how much prep work is required to open up satellite parking. If they plan for a certain figure then they are not going to set it up. It is not a "Oh we need to open satellite parking, let's go do it real fast" type of ordeal. It takes quite a bit of time. If they saw at 5 they needed it to be set up then it would have been WELL after seven before it would have opened.

I was there all night. Quite frankly, the park didn't seem all that crowded to me. Who knows??

It was packed. I went to Williamsburg tonight and used the BG exit for 60… bad idea (7:15)
