RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

last year was a step in the right direction and with the subtraction of an entire house sz's could be in for some much needed face time... but this Unleashed seals it for me if Dead Line is the house I will be so overwhelmed with excitement its not even funny I just hope the last two szs are fresh...

Yeah... I loved Banbury Cross last year. :)

I loved it too. Last year my friends and I just stood staring at the statues trying to deduce if they were real people or not. Just sat there staring at them for like 15 minutes!

I hope the next szs are in OctoberFest and Banbury Cross. The OctoberFest section is very empty on the HOS map.

I am so glad that they are having Unleashed, i love the werewolves so much, i think its one of the best things at hos

About HHN's scarezones.. ive been every year since 06' and the two events CANNOT be compared in anyway for many reasons.
I won't discuss them all but an obvious one is that HHN is higher priced and your ticket is JUST for HHN. Only a few amount of rides are even open once it begins, so they can easily utilize the space and money to do such an immersive event.

Although, I completely agree that if HOS used just a few more props and gave a more complete idea of what the scarezone was about.. it'd be scarier.

So far I am very excited about what has been confirmed this year! They're starting to bring back what I have loved about Howl-o-Scream since I started coming here. There are 2 things that would make this year anymore perfect. First off, including an "extra fee" ALONE haunted house would be incredible. I normally go with quite a few people, but I would be willing to spend the money to do something like that! And the other thing would be, and this is already a rumor, is to bring back Fiends in the Festhaus! i only got to enjoy it the first year I went, and then it went to a really bad show that is burned into my brain. Fiends is a part of my Halloween Life and I would love to see it back, as would many others!! :)

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Tampa's site goes live tonight so hopefully we'll get a little more info soon.

It's pretty rare that this happens, but that's a great idea that I've never had before. A stand-alone E-Ticket house that was really well done. Alone is a great theme for something like that, too, because it makes the most of the lower volume of traffic.

Great idea.

Tampa did it last year doc that's where the idea comes from!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

The reason why I said "How are they going to fit the subway theme in" is because usually, the themes for the mazes either could fit in easily in the Countries' set up, and landscape, or great decoration was done to change it to a zone that would support that. Tents and facades are laziness and not Busch Gardens' style.

Now after what HoSInsider has said, I'm really hoping a transformation of the outside of Pompeii into city buildings. d:

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

there will be no city buildings outside of pompeii....ha. Each mazed is themed to include some hint of the area it's in..To expect more would be a waste of a breath.... I would never go to BGT HOS if it was african themed. It's just not going to be scary. Yes, that's great for normal park hours, but for HOS it's really not. You need to tie in as much as you can to the area , but think outside of the box and create fright.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Ok, Wings, one of my sources read your comments/questions and told me that basically The Dead Line is a modern house set in Italy. Everything from the graffiti to the signs are in Italian. This is how they plan to integrate it with the existing theme of the area. Fear Fair on the other hand has nothing to do with Italy, but instead plays off of the festival theme in Festa Italia. It sounds like they're trying to tie things into the correct areas of park, but not at the cost of scaring you. Hopefully that clears things up a bit.

Source also says that Hunted has been completely gutted. I'm guessing this means that we'll see some of the theming and props from Hunted in Unleashed. Lastly, work was going on inside of Bitten yesterday. Expect changes, but nothing huge.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

You know, I'm thinking that if Alone at TB goes well again this year, maybe they'll turn Bitten into a similar house. Maybe call it Allein, you know, Alone in German, since it's in Germany.

And I'm late to the party. :D Looks like you've all talked about Alone already.

Yeah, BGT would never do that mainly because they have to compete with HHN. I took the VIP tour at BGT last year for HOS. Got to meet one of the main guys in charge of doing HOS. They have started on next year's theme already. I really like what they've come up with for this year. I think they will do very well against HHN.

Well, I don't know if that's a fair comparison. Most of the horror traditions that are familiar to us as Americans come from Europe, and the European motif has been used in a ton horror films. Africa just doesn't lend itself to the Halloween setting the way Europe does.

It's way easier to tie-in houses and scare-zones to the existing landscape of BGW than it is to tie-in to the situation at BGT, so it's less excusable for them to neglect the themes.

That said, I think there's got to be *some* flexibility if you want new ideas year-in-year-out.

If they do that, then this will probably be the best scare zone this year

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

If they use the "Hunted" props in the wolf Scare-Zone... I think I'd be the happiest person on this forum. just the thought of that is making me smile like an idiot...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I dont know if this has already been said but.... Evidently The new haunted house under pompeii will have a NY subway car in it and right now the beggining of the maze is just wrapped in white plastic with a plastic sheet hanging down every 10 feet or so. Also this year being its 13 year it will be less kid friendly and be more for adults as they are ramping up the scare level.
