Fearfair
Confirmed. Official description:
On the dark outskirts of the Fair Grounds near Festa Italia, a traveling carnival is waiting under a stained and tattered big top. Lift the flaps of the tent and discover the macabre—a fantastic collection of freaks, psychotic clowns and other insane oddities that defy human explanation. Will your sides split with laughter? Or will you turn around and run for your life? Either way, you’ll quickly understand why this evil carnival is doomed to wander the Italian countryside … never stopping in the same village twice.

Grin and Scare It
Confirmed. Official description:
Go ahead. Step right up to the creepiest show on earth. A traveling carnival has just crawled into Festa Italia, and you’ll be one of the very first guests to see what terrible traps these carnies have in store. As they unpack boxes brimming with ghastly tricks, the high-pitched laughter of evil clowns echo from the shadows. At this sinister circus, you won’t be calling for an encore.

DoctorMoney thanks for correcting me. For some odd reason I wrote Sweeney but thought Sleepy Hollow, my bad.

So fear fair isnt going to be over there by roman rapids?

Yeah, I am really confused by the whole map. Fear Fair is over by the front of Festa and Grin and Scare It is over by Roman Rapids?

^I think we've found the issue.

The Best "Scare-Zone" Busch ever did was Last-Year's Harvest Hallow.

I know I said I liked Last Laugh Industries, but I actually agree with this. I thought it was extremely well-done.
[/i].

I dont get it exactly. You agree the best thing Busch ever did in the way of a scarezone was Harvest Hallow(2010), but you go on to talk about how the taste and the market is different for each thing.

My Ultimate point is that there is a way to do everything, every kind of scary, every kind of event TASTEFULLY. I laughed at the decorations in Banbury cross. It's got *little* to do with the "target" Audience. But I mean stuff like the Crows and Rats... I see Garage Haunts more tastefully done than that. I mean the scarezone that accompanied a house like "Catacombs" looked so family friendly, I wonder how many parents let their guard down and took their kids in because the area didn't look "so bad"... And then was right down there at Guest Relations after complaining about how scary the event was...

Scarezones are not decorated areas with a sprinkling of actors. Anyone remember the Germany "Scare Zone" last year? The standing around Vampire Skater Sliders? Where were the props? Where was the lighting, where were the decorations on path and off the path? Where was the change in atmosphere? I felt like I was walking around Busch at night with a few actors out. The Scare Zones arent really scary in any kind of way and Im not impressed with them... Like I've said again, and again, and again, and again, really, It only takes a bit more than a few actors standing around in a barely themed area to scare me.

These are good examples of well-executed scarezones themed to terrify everyone entering. I understand this is not what Busch is aiming for entirely... But these scarezones if you ask me are a great example of how the lighting and theme and Props should be taken care of in a scarezone to create a creepy atmosphere. After you have a well themed scarezone, all you have left to do is fill it with actors giving performances in accordance with the theme.

Busch hasnt done anything like that for any scarezone other than harvest hallow. It'd be one thing to do a good job and a scarezone and perhaps have one or two actors on scaring duty to keep it tame. And of course the themes would be more tame than anything HHN does... But even with the minuscule budget they appear to have for HOS, they should be able to provide better quality experiences at HOS, While maintaining their "image".

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Well, I don't know. I watched the video, and I can appreciate the level of involvement there, but I personally can honestly say that it looked like it was a little crowded with stuff, a little too much going on for my tastes.

I didn't find Banbury Cross, or any other place, to be laughable in terms of quality.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I enjoy by visits to HoS. I have yet to not enjoy it. Has it always been as I desired? No, but still enjoyable.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I think one area of improvement that we'd all appreciate would be if the park added more of a storyline to the entire event. Something that tied everything together. What's a shame is that it would take almost zero extra effort. Put out some write ups on the website, some pamphlet handouts with the maps, and post signs along the line entrances that give you a build up of a story as you're about to enter the house (not to mention a great attention diversion for the scareactors to do their thing). That, and adding some theming elements to each house and scare zone that tied in to the story, is really all they'd need to do.

It would definitely give you a more of a sense of being at an "event" vs an "attraction."

not even the 4 vampire skater sliders?

See, but I didn't notice there were only 4. I just thought "well, there're some guys scaring people out here," and then enjoyed the fact that, if I really wanted to, I could walk through the area without being accosted. I didn't feel like I was being harassed the whole time, as I have felt at some other haunted attractions I've been to (KD not included, cause I've never been).

Like ScoutN said, is HoS everything it could be? No. But what is? I've always liked going...I can't recall being disappointed. I can agree with you, of course, that there can be improvements. I just don't think that that we agree on what would improve it.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

It's good they're bringing back the clowns because they know... it just perfectly fits. Plus they haven't had a "scary" clown theme for a while (since Last Laugh years back). Now they have their chance to make all of Festa one big creepy circus again.

Haha scary dance flick? I thought it was Grin and scare it

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

i merged two things i saw at once lol it said "step right up' so i merged that with 'grin and scare it' haha sorry

im guessing that was a simple mistake by the staff... like was said before, dont reaad too far into it

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Im not missing hunted. It was just an overlay house anyways... Glad were getting a modified Catacombs, and 3 new houses and a maybe modfied Bitten. Anyone got any news on just how "modified" the two returning houses will be?

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I just had an idea that might be epic and will never happen. Since RR is drained during HoS, you could use that as space for a house. All they have to do is put ramps over the pipes that create waves and whatnot.
