RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

The "Scare is Everywhere" is gone. That's a major change...

Although we now know for a fact the theme is not "Scare is Everywhere", I've read on a few websites, that continue to use that phrase in their descriptions of 2011 Howloscream.

Such as this Article from a Virginia Tourism Website ( I know not the best source, but it's a start) :

Busch Gardens’ Howl-O-Scream is rising to a whole new horrifying level in 2011 in honor of its 13th anniversary. Brave guests who dare to enter better beware that the scare is everywhere with new bone-chilling mazes, terrifying shows and gruesome creatures lurking around the park. Howl-O-Scream opens Sept. 23 and continues every Friday, Saturday and Sunday through Oct. 30. For more information, visit www.howloscream.com or call (800) 343-7946. Howl-O-Scream may be too intense for young children. Parental discretion is advised.

First off, welcome to the forums! Secondly, I honestly wouldn't pay attention to anything that's reported about a theme park from any news outlet or tourism site. People outside of theme park related communities often know nothing about what's actually happening at the parks. More than likely some clumsy reporter searched Google for Howl-O-Scream, saw "The Scare is Everywhere", thought it was a catchy slogan, and just dropped it into his article. I haven't seen anything official (or unofficial for that matter) about bringing back the "Scare is Everywhere" concept. In fact, I've heard from a few people that they actually acknowledged that it didn't work. Also, the inclusion of scare zones on the Howl-O-Scream site would seem to indicate that it's not returning.

Thank youu! I seem to find myself on this forum often, especially this thread, so I thought I might join in :)

But, I thought about that. They may have just saw something similar to those words in a media package relating to that, and put it in their article.

On another note, I'm sort of disappointed that they're bringing back the people with the chainsaws in that Scare Zone in New France. In my opinon, they're not very thrilling. They're actually rather annoying! Although they do go along with the theme of the area. I'm interested to see what they might do to go along with the spider theme, other than use those spiders from the reserve, or use lots of spiderwebs. I mean, people dressing up as spiders isn't going to work out.

I guess I will welcome you ScoutN style. Because you thought the saws were not affective means nothing in the grand scheme of the props. Those were by far the most effective method of scaring last year. Complaints on the actors and the intensity they brought in was regularly "complained" about several times a night. Saws annoying? not hardly. Saws effective? I think so.

You're right. I do have to say, as much as I am personally disappointed, I didn't think they would take them out. Considering the fact that they were rather successful. Still my question remains, spider theme? Does anyone have an insight on how this might work?

Too many methods of possible execution to list them all. Or that I care to list I should say.

::waits for Youhow to come and list::

I'm glad the chain saws about back just for the ability to sit at a table and watch people running through New France in absolute terror. Watching people throw their bags of popcorn 5 feet into the air and spilling their drinks is just too funny.

I used to do that back when they'd have the scarecrow people sitting around, especially near the beginning of the night, when most of tourists were completely clueless as to the fact that they were real people. hahaha.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I spent the wonderful day at Water Country and found this wonderful news upon arriving home! I can't wait to see what they do with this house! It looked great back in it's prime.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I've received more information about the event from a trusted source.

Houses:
"13: Your Number's Up" (Ireland)
"The Dead Zone" (Italy)
?
?
?

Scare Zones:
"Widow Makers" (New France)
?
?
?

Shows:
"Monster Stomp Revamped" (Ireland)
"Dig It Up" (Italy)
?
?

"The Dead Zone"
"The Dead Zone" is the official name for the new house that is currently being constructed under Pompeii. I've been told that the theme revolves around a zombie infested subway system. The house starts off with a few above ground scenes and then progresses inside the subway tunnels. The source says that they expect it to be "fantastic".

"Dig It Up"
"Dig It Up" will be replacing the show "Mix It Up" during Howl-O-Scream this year at Ristorante della Piazza. I'm told that the two shows will be pretty similar, just with a Funeral Parlor theme. The performers will be dressed as ghosts.

More as I get it...

Hmm, The Dead Zone sounds like it would be cool, but I don't get the modern setting compared to Revenge of Pompeii.

My thoughts exactly; a subway under the ruins of Pompeii... not exactly befitting a park formerly known as "The Old Country." This bit of info has seriously quelled my excitement of yesterday's news...

:dodgy:

All of the MSR drummers (and then some) are also in Mix It Up. Wonder if they'll be pulling double duty, or if they bring in 3-4 new drummers?

Hmm, good observation... I hope they hire new drummers for "Dig it Up." The current drummers know MSR so well, and do a fantastic job in it...

I'm not sure what I think about The Dead Zone. On one hand, I think it will make a really impressive house, but on the other hand, it's a shame they're having to move away from the park's theme to do it.

Exactly; it sounds as if it would fit well in Tampa, where they do things like demented toy factories, naughty nurses, etc., or even HHN at Universal. What I've always loved about HOS is that they stick to the traditional, old-world Halloween themes...

This.
I agree completely with that. This could possibly make (in my opinon) one of their best haunted houses thus far. The story is well thought out, and I really like it. Although subways, bit too modern I think. And has absolutely nothing to do with Italy in any way.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Just thought of something else: Wouldn't this make Catacombs a bit redundant? Catacombs are basically the same as subway tunnels when you think about it. Could we see Catacombs be replaced after all?

Ehhh, I personally never liked Catacombs anyway. It had major flaws.
I'm sure they'll put something there, but hopefully a different maze.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Or maybe they will have no maze in France and will try and squeeze 2 mazes in the Festhause Park somewhere and we could have a show back in the Royal Palace theater there instead and tell Jack to never come back EVER!!!!!!! Muhahahahahaha sorry that's my evil vision but to make it complete bring back the train LOL I know I know
