RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Swiftman, if there is no Festhaus Park attractions for HOS- perhaps no summer concerts in that area? Maybe they will all be at the RPT. My guess is that the construction site will somehow render the area blocked until the ride opens in 2010. Those cranes can be massive and if you are building a coaster that mimics the path of the BBW somewhat; that land would be perfect locations for cranes and large stacks of materials and equipment. It is a very nice open space that is easily accessible to the jobsite. That is what I would do if I were building a coaster in that area; otherwise you would have to remove a bunch of trees.

I believe this change will be for one year only; but the park will make it up in other areas.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

that's where they put the track for the BBW when they took it down. Just a note.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I hope they do something like Alone at Tampa. I dont know about you but I would pay to go thru alone and get a t-shirt at the end.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I HAVE AN IDEA!!!!

Ok so if the Festhaus Park is going to be used for the new coaster's part storage (as rumored) we're obviously going to be relieved of 3 houses. If they could find an area in the trees that is paved enough for safe travel, they could have a maze through the trees. It's a little far fetched, but I think they could manage it. There is a TON of empty forest in the FP and if they just build like a little tent structure for us to wait in line in so we don't see the parts of the ride. If they could find a way for a maze in trees to work they could make a REALLY good werewolf theme (maybe even stick with Hunted). Honestly if you have werewolves in an actual forest, it bumps up the scare factor even more. Especially if they take those dilapidated sheds from Harvest Hollow and stick them in the trees having the werewolves hide in them. They could also bring back the bungee jumpers and stick them up in the trees and you can have them all over the ground...basically werewolves coming at you from all levels.

It's kind of like a win-win situation...no one sees the stored parts (win for the park) and we still have an awesome maze in FP (win for the public).

Thoughts? Ideas?

"Busch Gardens' Howl-O-Scream is rising to a whole new horrifying level in 2011 in honor of its 13th anniversary."

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I went to halloween horror nights last year and skipped out on hos. Although I hated to miss my yearly visit to BGW, I have to say hhn impressed me! I know everyone says its all about budget but it really isn't. The whole park was engulfed in "Fear" from fog in every corner to dim lights and shrieking sounds. & I could really tell the actors were dedicated, something hos has been lacking for awhile now. It's like every actor in every scare zone played a role in the ultimate horror movie. Something else I really liked was that as you were leaving, you were asked to take a survey to improve for next year. I hope hos steps it up this year. Maybe the KIDsiderate events earlier on in the year will be reason enough to let the scare-loving teens/adults have their time after 6pm in Oct.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I remember the first time I went to Howl-o-Scream in 2004, it was truly a scary event. I agree that BGW needs to get the clowns back in Festa Italia and have a clown-themed maze. I also was very disappointed the year that they moved the werewolves out of the Wildlife Reserve. I would always sit on a bench in the shadows, and watch person after person run screaming. The spiders defenitely leave something to be desired, especially with the lack of scare actors on the ground. I say get rid of Hunted and put the werewolves back in the Widllife Reserve.
The idea to have a maze down by the Rhine River seems like a great idea- they have the space to do it easily. Does anyone remember Sea Dog Cemetery where Forest of Fun is now? I think something similar to that down there would be extremely cool.
The chainsaw men in New France, I thought, were very good- defenitely better than the scare actors from 2009.

The sum of my thoughts comes down to is you get what your actors put into it. If the actors are not producing then the results will not be where they should be. Some of the mazes clearly showed that last year.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I just started reading this thread:
My first thought is for michaelcollier1 posted back on 12-05-2010, 12:39 PM ( Post: #7 ) I remember while riding the train in the morning that they where warning parents that after x-time the park may not be good place for your little ones, and the scare will be everywhere.

KIDsiderate Is a big theme at bgw last season and this may also be why that HOS was SOOO lame (to me atleast). when I spoke to one of the scare squad members about how it seemed alittle lame I was told that they where not to be too scary when "small" kids where around.

MY 2 cents: Make it after x-time the gloves come off and all hell breaks loose and if you decide to stay with junior and he is not able to sleep that night ooowell. This is coming from a parent of 3 kids. Bring back the clowns they where the best scare in the park. Also Bring back the Haunted Train Ride I personally donot care if grandpa is too tired to walk back to the front of the park( the train when haunted was one stop only). This was a great ride and used to be better then most of the show they had at the time. A haunted boat cruise ride also sounds kind of cool if you donot mind the walk up the hill/steps afterwards.

I have been told that the entertainment department at BGW is incharge of the scare squad and most of the scaring things that happen at the park, If you really want change in how HOS is done at the park then send them a e-mail at GuestCorrespondence@seaworld.com this is the corporate email so make sure that you include the park name in your email

I know for a fact that the Howl-O-Scream thread from last year was read by important people- I imagine that it won't be any different this year.

I'm still mad Phil Raybourn knew who I was at the Social media event by my comments... It was pretty awkward... :D

Anyways I hope he really took what I had to say to heart.... cause really, I love Busch... But Howl-O-Scream has been horrible. Great themeing inside the mazes but like I've said tons of times before when it comes to actual scaring, and scarezones... KD wins. If they were to combine the themeing at busch with KD's scarezones and tactics...

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

At least you were invited. :dodgy:

Hey, important people, anyone want to fix that for me?
