RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Cursed was better last year than the year before. It is themed good but it needs to be scarier. And its deffinately better than revenge of pompeii, its been like the same thing for the past 10 years.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

The Pompeii revamp is by far what I'm looking forward to the most for this year's Howl-O-Scream. If you haven't already seen it, here's a picture provided a little while back by an old friend of the site, Cedarva/LoveDoc:

According to the person who passed along the Mach Tower news last night, yes.

Busch can plan it to be as scary as something could possibly be. The level of fright factor comes down to the employees and how pumped they are. The employees motivation is a direct reflection of how scary a maze is perceived.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Cursed wasnt designed very well to be too scary. Not all of the mazes were made to be scary like Hunted or Bitten. Cursed was a good House for people whoe would be too frightened by Bitten or Hunted. And actually Scoutn, I'd have to disagree SLIGHTLY with you on that. Fright factor comes down to how well the employees are trained to use the maze to scare the guest, on top of the morale. They havent been trained well in the past years.

ALSO. All that freakin security in the maze... Hide them... Please.

Think so? Then why did the top ranked maze every night last year… except one night send eight of their top actors to Cursed and that was the only night Cursed was ranked top?

The input from the actor and how he/she makes the maze their's is how the maze will be perceived.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

ok seriously they're going to keep bitten back there in that overly heated df building and tear down what is in my opinion at least the best HOS maze to date? honestly if this year continues the trend I might have to give up on my season passes, HOS WAS awesome but they are being passed up last year the worst house at KD was better than the best house at BG... I haven't given up all hope but I'm starting to get fed up, let's hope the return of clowns is enough to rekindle my love for HOS

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

The park has started completely gutting Pompeii for a full revamp, Swift posted a concept pic earlier. Don't be shocked if you see something along those lines in Pompeii.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I am excited for this year's HOS, and believe it could be the best to date. Cursed wasn't a scary maze, but I agree as it was a good maze for starters. Catacombs was my favorite last year, and I really hope that it returns. It was still a bit short, but I can deal with that as long as the scare is still good. Pompeii being re-vamped is a good sign. Pompeii is a great place for a house, and the first time I went through probably my favorite. This was back in 06. Every year it went down in the list, but that is because it didn't change. I am also pumped by the whole clowns returning. They should be good for the park's scare factor since almost everyone is terrified by clowns. I can't wait!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I've heard from multiple people that they're defiantly returning, but according to someone who contacted Chris yesterday, it's now down to a most likely.

Welcome back. I figured once HoS discussion fired up again you would be back here

Maybe I'm behind on something or not quite understanding but what is being torn down?

The old Pompeii maze is!

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Just received some more Howl-O-Scream news. Cursed and Pompeii are both completely gutted as of last night. Reconstruction on Pompeii starts on the "volcano tub room" and the "crypt section" later today. The work on the "oak island" area is planned to start on August 1st. No news on Cursed or the area that it inhabited. According to another source, there are rumors that nothing will take Cursed's place.

Current Rumored House Tally:
1. Pompeii building (✔) Under reconstruction.
2. Europe in the Air queue (?) Only hearing this from one person at the moment, but I'd say to expect it.
3. Royal Palace Theater (?) I haven't heard anything about it yet this year; I guess Catacombs is coming back?
4. Drachen Fire Station (?) I've heard mixed things.
5. Drachen Fire Maintenance (?) Same as the station.
6. Field behind Festa (X) Everything I'm hearing says unlikely or no. Anyone know why?
7. Festhaus Park Field (X) Everyone who's said anything about it agrees that it's not returning due to 2012 construction.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

I can't believe we are already seeing progress on the construction of Howl-O-Scream, but this is a great sign. I think this is going to be Busch's year.

RE: Howl-O-Scream 2011

Okay, One thing bothers me. There is no way in hell they can pull off a successful HOS with 4 or 5 houses. Attendance is far to large to do that, unless were getting shows like crazy. Even then, and with the houses spread out, It'll just be sending the 3 hour+ clusterf$#^ that was the Bitten/Hunted/Cornfield to the rest of the houses. I mean, they just cant have any less attractions than last year. They need another maze or two... the question is where?
