Awe! I got the email just today, and it sounds really great.
There were only about 23 or so people invited, they said that they were choosing their most active facebook fans.

I got my invite on the first round that went out. Then there was a second, then the post on FB, then the post on Twitter... and now I'm wondering just what is going on! I thought it was a small thing, but I don't know. It'll be fun no matter what and cool to see some of the BGWFans people there for sure!

We're "experiencing all that HOS has to offer" with reserved Monster Stomp seating, some kind of reception, and "giveaways and opportunities for unique experiences" or something of that nature. Basicallly... I'm not 100% sure! But I'm pumped. My guest is flying down from Boston for the weekend and is probably more excited than I am, and that takes doing. I can't wait to see the changes that have been made since the first weekend.

Have they done this HOS Fright Night before? If so, what is it like? I too received an invitation and my husband and I are beyond excited to celebrate our anniversary there and be invited to something like this. The invitation is very vague so I was just wondering if anyone has any other details.

They had a similar event for Illuminights. It was very nice. A reception (food, open bar) then a special tour. Most of it is on your own though with an agenda to meet up at certain times for special events. Sounds like this will be similar. This will be our anniversary "night out" as well:shy:

And here I sit, silently, lurking. About to make the trek down to HoS tomorrow for the entire weekend. Boy that "Fright Night" would hit the spot :)

I waited til we could go again to finalize my thoughts ... I think HOS this year is great! The overall impression you get as you go through the park is fantastic -- thrilling or spooky or festive by turns.

We were there last night and had a wonderful time. We passed through Ireland as Jack is Back was going on. We didn't stop to watch and appreciated the passthrough lane, but what we saw was a big group of parents and kids having a really good time. And the atmosphere was very party-like, as was the area in front of the Festhaus all evening (whether the show was running or not).

As for the individual mazes, overall I thought they were great. For those who really like to break down the specifics, I thought Harvest Hollow was not quite as good as last year (but I still love the outdoor haunts the best), Bitten and Hunted about the same, Catacombs better, and CURSED was OUTSTANDING. Love that you weave in and out of a group of sets in that one, like a little village or something. That one was the best for us last night by far.

To the Monster Cake lovers -- gotta agree, there's something about that purple cake and green frosting that is beyond the ordinary!

We ended up doing far more of the HOS stuff than I thought we would, just because we enjoyed it so much. Of course we still hit the coasters and were glad the train was operating as usual and no longer a HOS attraction (although it was always fun but huge lines when it was a haunted train ride) and were especially glad the skyride was operating.

The crowd was really mannerly, too, really more so than some days during the regular season. I sometimes think of HOS as being overrun by obnoxious folks but that was not at all the case last night.

so we ended up going last night instead of today to avoid a huge crowd.
i can just say that this year was awesome. its true that the scare isn't EVERYWHERE, but there are waaay more than there have ever been!

my favorite maze was catacombs, hands down. i love that it is longer, and there were so many actors in there! bitten was good, and i dont know how i feel about hunted. some of the sounds (growling, snarling) that came out of the speakers were just too loud, my ears were ringing at the first sound. it was waaaay dark in there too. harvest hollow is excellent! the different masks they have in there are just terrifying. i loved the chainsaw men in new france, they were so creepy, and got my little brother many times! monster stomp was great as usual, but i still want them to bring the original back. whoever the lead male vampire was was absolutely FANTASTIC. i would watch him over and over again! cursed was better, but it still isn't as good as it could be, there were maybe 10 actors in the whole thing.

overall it was a great experience, and i hope to go again before the season is over!

When i went through Cursed their were plenty of scareactors, And were their more ppl in harvest hollow?? Bc wen i went through their was like 1 guy

Yeah, there were very few in Harvest Hollow when we went through, really it was just one or two, but Cursed was great, so I guess it depends on how many are working a certain site, who is on break, etc. etc. I'm a little surprised it varies so much but I guess it does.

I just saw on facebook that the park was closed for a while due to capacity. Wow, that's great for the park, anyone know what capacity is?

i dont know why it was so different. it may be due to people on breaks and things but there were sooo many more people in harvest hollow than there were in cursed.

I've actually never seen it reach capacity before. Any idea how many that is, and if I can expect it to be there by 2:00 PM tomorrow?

2:00 PM tomorrow should be fine. It's Saturdays that you have to worry about.

how about QuickQueue? I got them two years ago and it was a life saver...bought them last year and it was a waste of $30. I only like to do the mazes and Halloween shows once it's dark (I guess around 7). I know they only sell a limited number of QQ passes per day...I'm hoping I don't need them, but am planning on buying. Guess we'll see tomorrow.
