Well see its one thing if what people are saying isnt true to any kind of degree... But alot of the comments are pretty truthful.

Yes there is some truth to what has been said and i was one of the first to say i was alittle disappointed but i went on the first day so i expected it.

But there is no reason for people to get all mad and upset about it.
Some people are calmly making suggestions other people are blasting the park for what they have changed.
Just saying enjoy it this year and hope for better next year.

Wow, I haven't been on in forever! Anyways, I've been to Howl-O-Scream friday, saturday, AND sunday, and obviously I loved it.
It was great. I wouldn't say that it was their scariest year ever, but overall it was still scary but wasn't too serious and it was fun which is great! :D
Monster Stomp was BY FAR better than last year. The vocals were amazing and the new lead guy was so awesome.
The Bitten, Hunted and Harvest Hollow combo was definitely the scariest and best maze, I never understand why Catacombs gets the attention.
I loved the zombies as well.
The best and scariest scarezone was the chainsaw guys, I screamed... loud. :D :O
Great job Busch. :)

Oh, and by the way, each day I went I saw the woman with the wigs and odd clothing and her boyfriend. :D Lol.

About the new jack is back show: I think they should change the name to like " Jacks Dance Party" if it really isn't going to be the normal Jack is Back story. Not back street boys dance party! They should RENAME the show so people won't say it's not as scary or good as the old show because this would mean it's a new entierly different show basically made for the kid/preteen age group. am i right?

It's made for the teen group I'm assuming, but I agree about the name part for sure.
I would love it if they kept all of the same new music, but replaced the cheesy pumpkin girls with scarecrows, and gave Jack his old look back.
That would be the best!

Well, I do think several even on this thread have said they like HOS as is. My family certainly does. Overall I am very happy with the HOS experience and do think it has gotten better over time -- as in, bigger, more immersive themeing. I haven't really bothered to note my personal level of scare each year and compare it to other years, not that others won't do that, but again I think that's more the "average" park goer's way of looking at HOS -- just a simple did I have a good time at BGW today?

The Jack show is a kid's show. Simply put. If you don't like it, you're probably not the intended audience. The only reason the old jack was the way he was, was so that he could mascot the whole event, not just a show in Ireland. The new costume is made especially for the show. It only makes sense.

I always enjoy myself, im just saying it isnt really up to standards, or should i say, wasnt up to standards on Friday

Well it's never as good the 1st weekend as it is later in the season..

Howl-O-Scream is a different experience every time I go. Some weekends are lackluster, while on others the atmosphere and scares are great. I went on Sunday, and overall it was pretty good. Here are my thoughts:

Bitten was really good. It was VERY dark in there. (Or maybe it was just because it was my first maze and my eyes hadn't adjusted.) There were a lot of actors. Also, something very cool happened. A girl slipped in front of me just as I was going through the gate, and I thought, WTF? Throughout the maze she was texting on her phone and looked uninterested. Then, about halfway through, one of the male vampires grabs her and drags her away as she's screaming like mad. That's dedication! One thing it didn't like, getting sand in my shoe.

Hunted was...meh. None of the actors were really up to par. The set up was improved from last year, but nobody was really scaring, or surprising. I think It'll probably get better later on.

Harvest Hallow was improved over last year. But that's not saying much since last year it was AWFUL. It was ok. The actors were creepy, but not surprising. BUT I did this one while it was still light out, so the atmosphere wasn't at its best.

Cursed was pretty good. It was lacking in actors in some parts. There was a problem with backups in the maze when I went in, so that was a real mood killer. But this maze has lots of potential.

Catacombs. It wasn't as long as I hoped it would be. But the dark claustrophobic environment was created really well. The actors could have been WAY better when I went in. I expect this to be the best maze once HOS runs for awhile.

One thing I think they should do, especially on slow nights, is space the groups apart, and make them smaller. Sure the lines would be longer, but it would give the actors a chance to get ready, and improve the overall experience of the maze.

Scare is Everywhere. It's not really everywhere. There are lots of gaps in coverage, like Ireland, Oktoberfest, Festa Italia, and (when I was there) the Wild Preserve. Though, the chainsaw guys in Canada (I'm not even going to bother calling it New France anymore.), were really good. Plus, it made sense. I think there could have been more mummies in front of Pompeii, and those guys who skidded on their knees in Germany disappeared once it started raining.

I didn't see any of the shows. (yet!)

I will probably go to Howl-O-Scream at least two more times. I look forward to any changes that are made.

I went friday, and i actually thought that harvest hallow was better last year, Bitten was boring bc it was exactly the same thing as last year, same with hunted but in reverse, cursed was so much better this year, revenge of pompeii has been the same forever, and Catacombs was a big improvement and i thought the best maze there.

@Dream: I wouldn't recognize Hinckley, so he may have passed me often at HOS without my realizing it [kidding of course -- he's still hospitalized I'm sure].

We are going to HOS again tonight i will report on the progress since last friday
