I thought that Catacombs was the best maze. Cursed was actually much better this year.. and i thouhgt that harvest hollow was better last year. Bitten was exactly the same. And hunted was a lilttle bit better. And pompeii was exactly the same.

Cursed is probably the most improved since last year. Hunted seemed to be the same exact maze, just in reverse.

Ok, show-wise, saw them again and...: I stick by my Monster Stomp thoughts, although it is still an awesome show. Jack is Back was cool. Very contemporary music. Frankenrock was better the second time around. Still a horrible beginning, but got better as it went on.

Yeah, I think it had more vines hanging down though.

Hunted was horrible. My Jesus, It was my favorite tied with catacombs last year now... just horrible.

So anyways. I did everything but monster stomp, I left frankenrock after a few minutes. Jack is back... Whoever wanted the video of the show. Just avoid it completely. Jack is not Jack at all, and thats all I can say... Last year was bad, and this year is the final straw. I got to watch a 8 minute show with the Elmo version of Jack and the backstreet boys sing Miley Cyrus, Katy perry and Lady Gaga... I hope monster stomp is like the best thing ever, because if it's not I can honestly say atleast last year the shows were better at the Haunt, which is something even I never thought I'd say...

Anyways here goes my review(s)

The scare is everywhere.... is a lie.

There were scattered spots not marked on the map where there were scare actors, but never really more than one or two. They actually had scarezones this year. I was impressed... decent spread of props, Good prop to actor ratio for the most part, though they still need some improvement on the prop to scareactor ratio. Several of the scarezones had no props and actors just standing around. The sliders were pretty horrible. They made no sparks and stayed in one area. They were dressed like vampires but had on helmets and an insane amount of armor. It was pretty ridiculous if you ask me. They looked like they belonged in some kind of extreme sports vampire show...

Praises:
Improvement on how many security guards they had in the mazes.

Actual Scarezones, with actual props and actual scare actors.

They actually used gore and blood. Chainsaw guys with Blood, Blood in Bitten which is probably one of the two houses that actually demanded it. Hunted had a little random gore that wasnt really necessary where it was used, though the overall theme could have used it tastefully.

Cursed was probably one of the best haunts I have ever seen, though it lacked scares, I actually felt like i was in some kind of evil village plagued with witches and warlocks. It was pretty similar to last year though. It must have been the lighting that changed

Catacombs is the epitome of awesome. Exactly how a house should be... The only thing is could really use is a better story. It was very similar to last year, but it was still good, it was a little different though, and the length was definitely increased.

England, France and The Webs had/were the best scarezones of Howl o Scream

The Bad:

Any scarezone not in England, France or part of the webs was pretty... Bad. Unless you count the in front of Pompeii as a scarezone too.

Either just one actor, a few props and no actors anywhere, or no props and just a scattered actor hiding in the bushes. Not very effective.
Oh and the sliders were a joke, get them proper equipment and a larger roaming area... Teach them how to slide properly too.

Jack is back, Franken rock. Nuff said...

Bitten: Exactly the same as last year, just a random assortment of vampire related things and absolutely no story to follow. Well actually there was one room I cant remember if it was there or not. but it was still pretty much the same, and pretty lame

Hunted:
WTF? how do you take one of the best houses from last year and make it suck that bad? I remember last year I liked the transition from bitten to hunted that wasnt on the map. It was pretty awesome.... No where to be found... Very few actors, pretty much the same maze reversed with less actors... Seemed like they removed some of the props.

Escape from Pompeii:
Exactly the same. EXACTLY THE SAME as always...

Harvest Hallow:
I dont even count this as a maze. It really wasnt even scary, it was like going through some random cornfield with small sheds scattered everywhere. Poor execution. I didnt even understand why it was sposed to be scary...

Overall:
I think it's improved since last year especially... But as of right now I still think it's not as good as it can be and that overall it's a pretty bad haunt as to what it can be. I look forward to checking out KD's haunt this year to see how they compare, but as of right now I feel that KD last year was still better than HOS this year...

for everyone who has not gone to HOS yet theres no need to panic

for MANY years now people have gone on the first night and have come out disappointed. there are many reasons for that.

1. its the first night. everyone is still learning who works HOS and will get better with time
2. its a friday night. because many of the kids who work HOS are locals im sure at least a few cant work on friday nights. so if anyone is going today they might find that there are many more people around.
3. even though the scare is everywhere, BGW does have a budget and they cant blow it making sure every nook and cranny of the park has a prop or scare actor. for example- the little adding theming and people between the 2 mazes in festhaus park is missing this year somewhat...well would you rather have that and not have the detailed scare zones in the park?
4. also in years before BGW will make changes to its mazes and scare zones throughout HOS to improve on it even more.

chris when will the pictures be up from last night?

I didn't take any pictures last night, I just went to enjoy it. I'll be going back tonight just to take pictures though. So they'll be up either later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Alrightly, if it's possible, take some pictures and or a video of the New Jack is Back show! :)

I'm a little upset that Pompeii wasn't changed AGAIN. Lets hope LoveDoc is listening to all the changeable complaints. How do they manage to change like 18 Mazes of the course of 10 years, and they can't even change 1 for 7? Pompeii is finished, I don't see why they refuse to recognize it.

We went last nite and i can say for all the hype about it we was not impressed.I know it was the first nite and we will go again after a week or two and see how things compare.
We did all the mazes and seen monster stomp.

Monster stomp was good but they need to work out their timing issues they have.Still a good show.
I hope BGW does so fine tuning on HOS to make it better than last nite.

I actually scared one of the scare actors more than she was scaring people walking by :D

Like i said we will go again and see how things are but so far not impressed.
BGW shouldnt put out as much hype and not back it up it was a big let down for us.

Just our 2 cent

(It's LoveDoc, by the way)

I wasn't going to post (and actually haven't in a couple days now), but I wanted to get this out now so something doesn't come to annoy anybody here, or myself, later on down the road.

Pompeii was significantly different a month ago (some of you may remember this), but due to a technical limitation and another issue, the maze was altered with the time and budget constraints that was had. That being said, as you can tell it's (nearly) identical to previous years. I told Chris and a few other people privately that there were going to be slight changes to the final draw this week due to some issues arising. Honestly, some things can't be helped and while I can tell people what to expect, I've taken a slightly more backseat approach to saying what is and isn't going on in detail because, as this shows, things change on a daily basis and I just can't (and won't) keep up with it here.

With all that being said .... http://bgwfans.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=428&action=lastpost

Here's a few pictures from HOS tonight.
