RE: In-Park Music

Okay, so I've decided to put together some videos with the music of certain BGW hamlets. I just finished making my first video, below, of Oktoberfest. I've also provided the names of the songs and their respective artists, as well as some horrible pictures I took. Enjoy!! :)

By the way, check out the guy photo bombing in the barrel picture! :p

Thanks Joe, Zach and I have been trying to figure out the best way to get this music to everyone just hadn't gotten around to it.

Does anyone know the songs that were in the show Jammin Jukebox back in like 2004? I know some was The Village People, but I don't know the exact song list.

RE: In-Park Music

Oh, just remembered to add, they changed the main entrance music. It is now a playlist from around the park. Some Irish, some Italian, some Beatles, and even a little bit of Water Country USA was added.

RE: In-Park Music

I heard French Music also, and I bet there is some German in there somewhere. I thought it was better than last year's, I didn't really like that music.

RE: In-Park Music

I liked last years music because I was nice music that really felt welcoming and cohesive. This year, it makes me feel like the area itself does not have a theme. As explained elsewhere the main entrance should be themed and immerse you the very second you walk up. Having different music from different countries just ruins whatever one single theme it had.

Also, heard the snoopy song in Land of the Dragons.

No, I actually like it, because I think as soon as you go through the entrance area, you should know that this park is themed to Europe. Last year's was something I would expect to hear at Disney World, in some area themed to fairies.

RE: In-Park Music

Most people do not spend a lot of time in this area and only have the chance to hear one song at most unless they end up waiting in long lines. With that said, I think the songs were nice because they flowed well with the garden theme. The songs last year gave me this feeling like I was exploring through a garden which is technically what your doing.

RE: In-Park Music

You're supposed to be exploring Europe, with beautiful gardens, or else they would've named Oktoberfest, Flowerfest.

RE: In-Park Music

I have to agree with PR here. I loved, loved, loved last year's music so much. It filled the gap between "adventurous" and "beautiful" pretty much perfectly. Jonsi's "We Bought a Zoo" and the Odd Life of Timothy Green's "Love and Be Loved" were absolutely perfect for the area.

While the entrance area is *technically* part of England, the rebranding of the entrance area in 2013 made it more of just a "garden" themed area, with English accents. While the England theme certainly fit the old country theme more (thereby making it better, in my opinion), they did do a good job of fitting that beautiful garden theme they were going for. The green paint, the new fountain, the new arch, etc. meshed very well with the feel of the music.

Course, now that's all gone. When I first heard this new soundtrack I hoped it was just for opening weekend, but that is not the case. The big, flashy music (like that yucky stuff played by Mix It Up) by the likes of Frank Sinatra doesn't fit the area in the slightest.

I mean, that's almost as bad as Paramount playing rock music on International Street. I don't understand why the park has to mess with perfection, especially since it only lasted for one season. Whatever the reason, I'm almost certain Gasparich is behind it.

I didn't like most of the music, I just liked it because it fit most of the Europe theme, but then again I didn't like last year's either.

The British invasion music was just awful, if that's what's going to be played in Banbury, we should all be really worried. The first time I came in it was the Beatles, and I could barely understand what they were saying because the speakers were muffling the music. On my way out I heard some song most likely called "downtown," and it was just a women singing "Downtown" again, and again, and again, definitely not my type of music at all.

However, I thought the French music was very, very nice, but I haven't heard anything else yet soooo...

I know I am in the unpopular opinion here, but I love listening to the Beatles in Banbury Cross and the Main Entrance back when the park played those songs constantly. I think they fit the area as a nice relaxing place.

That 'downtown' song was played at Water Country USA.

Well the music currently played there, is very peaceful and considering it fits the are 100x better, I think I know which one should really go there.

RE: In-Park Music

Thanks of posting that netdvn! I've had the songs beat stuck in my head and it was killing me not being able to find it.

RE: In-Park Music

SO with Kings Dominion owning the rights to the Peanuts group, is the park allowed to play the song or are they playing it with hopes nobody recognizes it?

RE: In-Park Music

I don't think it matters, well... it does matter, but I don't think they care, considering they're using other soundtracks from movies around the parks for various themes and seasons.

It's just one of the ones that I know has been there forever. I doubt they'll remove the song just because KD has Peanuts at their park.
