no more fake blood shots? Oh, what a disappointment.
Those "fake blood shots" was the nastiest god damn thing ever. My GF threw up from it once we got out the maze. I dont know what the hell was in there but jesus christ they were gross.

Alright so I am deciding not to go this year to this event. The issue with the crowds and everything disgusts me. I'll take the hit or miss HowloScream events with drunk, but usually not rude or violent, people. The story of the mazes at this event should standout to me, not the fact that the guests are crappy. Sorry this just really pisses me off especially since this event is more popular meaning I have to spend more time with crappy people waiting in lines. Tell me how the mazes are if you go.

So what are Fridays for Haunt usually like crowdwise? Would Fright Lane be needed to do every maze? I've only been on Saturdays which we are all aware that they are terrible.

As several of us have mentioned, it probably does not make sense to generalize from our experiences on opening day to the rest of the event. The problems we had with the crowds are not likely to be replicated on a Friday or Sunday. I believe last Saturday was the perfect storm: It was opening day on a Saturday when the park was closed Friday and Sunday; we believe there was a corporate event going on, increasing the crowds; we know the park chose to offer $20 tickets to up to 6 guests of every pass member, amounting "bring your own mob" day.

Aside from the appalling opening day guests, the event was phenomenal. The worst house was better than anything we experienced at HOS. The best jhouse could compete with Florida, in my opinion.

Fridays are better, but the lines can still get long. I suppose it depends on your tolerance for waiting, but I always get Fright Lane. The good news is that Haunt closes at midnight on Fridays, so you have five hours to get through everything.

Fridays are normally MUCH MUCH better, with far less crowds. We will be there again this Friday and weather (as forecast currently) is supposed to be very good.

I don't think you need fright lane as IMHO you can get through all mazes in around 3 hours on a Friday and leave plenty of time for repeats and scare zones. Other who have attended on Friday nights many times in the past can chime in as needed.

I’d like to point out that without Volcano keeping people in line, crowds will be much different than in years past.

In my opinion, I would think having Twisted Timbers open during Haunt would help crowds a bit.

I'll repeat everyone else in saying that you should not let the opening night crowds scare you (pun not intended) into avoiding the event. This event is amazing, especially if they keep performing like they did on Saturday, and I wouldn't want anyone to miss it. Well worth your time and money, just avoid Saturdays. KD's Haunt is easily the best theme park Haunt in Virginia and one of the best in the country. I still think the park's placement in last years USA Today poll (2nd place) is making crowds larger, but that's a good thing if you want Haunt to get even better in the long run.

We always go the first friday that Haunt is open for the past few years and the crowd is usually not that bad because the state fair is opening that day as well. No need for Fright Lane passes on Fridays until closer to Halloween.

I'm going to be there next Friday, October 5. I want to do some rides in addition to the houses. So I'm getting a Fright Lane pass.

Most of best Haunt experiences have related to times when it was extremely noncrowded -- for example 4-8 monsters ganging up on me at once. I don't know if that will be the case but surely last Saturday contrasts sharply.

Often the first weekend is more crowded and seems too warm for Haunt. These are related. When Fall kicks in it's usually good until closer to Halloween.

Just want to make sure you know that Fright Lane only works on the houses. Fast Lane for the rides is separate.

The park was super chill last night, with enough people around to make it fun, but lines were still short and everything was easily manageable. We had no problem hitting all the houses and scare zones and riding a fair number of rides in 4 hours. Everywhere (houses and zones) with the notable exception of Blackout, was FULL of actors last night. Probably my best Haunt experience in recent memory, which is impressive for a year without much new, and presumibly attention and resources dedicated to Winterfest. A+ from me and my group.
