Zombie’s building has been used for storage at least since 2019.

Dodgem is no longer used because it took too long to set up every year, plus they couldn’t be as detailed with it since it’s in a temporary spot.

Also, FOF’s house walls are still up, but they don’t use it anymore because too many guests complained that FOF wasn’t open. I wouldn’t be surprised if they used this for storage, too.
Wish more people would complain about Grizzly not being open. It's totally easy even with grimmwoods. Just route an alternate path and split the existing one in half. Would be an insane night ride.

Yea grizzly not being open for haunt night rides is a god damn crime. Get AC in zombies building and remove grim woods or re route it
Grimm woods has good set pieces I guess but isn’t even scary. Needs to go. I get the novelty of having an outdoor maze but it prevents one of the worlds best night rides from being open at night.

Grim Woods ***used*** to be the best maze at the park. Back when they had everything lit up properly. Back when every costume and actor was thematically relevant to the corresponding faerie tale, and acted the part. Back when the Hansel & Gretel actors literally jumped out of the oven prop. Back before they put a skeleton in Briar Rose's bed. The theme had so much potential and they just squandered it, so yeah I totally agree that it can go if they're going to leave it in its current state.

KD has AC in the mazes? Never noticed it. That’s awesome though and I’m super jealous. SCarowinds doesn’t have AC and it’s lead to miserable times both as a guest and actor.

To remain on topic! It’s interesting that MonsterCon was seemingly scrapped. I liked the maze a lot in 2024! Hopefully, a really good maze replaces it! I wouldn’t mind them giving FEAR the boot and moving MonsterCon to that building. I think the idea of MonsterCon in a smaller building would fix some of the issues it had. We shall see!

I think this is 100% what KD should do. Move MonsterCon to FEAR and combine the scenic of both into a MonsterCon v2. MonsterCon is a great, unique, compelling, amusing theme for KD. FEAR is unique... but none of those other adjectives apply.

Really hope this is what KD has in mind, but sadly, my faith in KD's Haunt leadership is not high at all at this point. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

It's not much but prep is starting. Trick R treat is returning
Looks like Site X and Cleaver Brothers’ Carnival are also returning!

Honestly, both zones have run their course and I was hoping for replacements for these two. Cleaver Bros. will probably stick around for a very long time due to its popularity, but Site X has no reason to exist in its current form unless it has a larger footprint. Last year’s small zone was quite underwhelming.

Yea site X was so stupid lol. You had to actually stumble on it vs traditional you have to go through this zone to get to the other side

Honestly. So many of my friends that only come during haunt completely missed it. Even though they walked all over the area multiple days.

We talked to the park about Grizzly being open at night during haunt and it’s something that they want to do. Will see if it happens but it was brought up when we had the focus group.
Similar to a repurposed Joe cool for trick or treating, when the go karts closed a few years ago I was convinced that year they would use the closed track for a new Grimm Woods queue for minimal investment and keep Grizzly open (which was also the year it got it’s retrack, so the perfect selling point).

I happened to be on the final Grizzly dispatch before closing for Haunt last year and I was surprised how much fog covered the station and lift hill the moment they were turned on for Grimm Woods. Most coasters at KD easily run through fog during Haunt, but Racer 75 and Grizzly both use a ride attendant’s visual to watch for cell phones going up the lift hills (whereas steel coasters have someone in the booth watch from cameras). Grizzly even added a large floodlight on the lift hill ruining the best night rides I assume for this same safety procedure.

No inside information here, but if I had to guess, closing Grizzly for haunt really has more to do with proximity for fog than it’s lack of queue accessibility (they could fix this if they really wanted).

All that to say, I see no changes on the Grizzly Haunt front and no upgrades or replacements at all to Grimm Woods in the near future. Outside of BSC’s pending retheme, the next major investment at KD will be in Old Va. With four locations available (Sky coaster, Go Karts, Dinos Alive/Grimm Woods, White water canyon plots) and three of which directly adjacent to Grizzly, I don’t think KD knows exactly what or where the next investment will be. With less dollars available each year it won’t spend money on Grimms Woods or Grizzly plaza until a long-term plan is in place.

They have actually used the go kart track as an extension to the line for GrimmWoods. Nights where they have to do that are a nightmare, though.

Have they done that since the go karts closed though? I remember standing in line there when the go karts were still part of the attractions line-up (obviously closed during haunt) but not since then.

With Six Flags announcing new IP houses chain-wide every Friday, KD is the only major park who has not had an IP house announced yet. I’d have to imagine it’s very soon. Great Adventure’s House pass for 2026 went live yesterday as part of its 2027 pass offerings, so I would think KD’s house will be announced before its own 2027 passes go live in the next weekish.

What do you think the new house may be? Do you think they are saving KD’s IP because it may be a pretty big IP announcement, to go along with Haunt’s 25th anniversary? What major IPs are left that Six Flags could have realistically leased?

SMH. It’s even harder to justify buying a haunted attractions pass this year because last year showed that, if you wait long enough, they’ll relent and open up the houses for free admission anyway. Why would I buy a pass and risk the value being wiped away?
