Evil Clown Band semi-confirmed.

...jokes aside, that would be pretty cool...

When done right for a Halloween event, creepy clowns = scary.

Should not be too much longer before the park starts dribbling out pieces of Haunt information. I thought the park started the information leaks at the end of last July for the 2013 Haunt.

The "other" KD fan site reported that they heard power tools in the Corn Stalkers maze on Intl. Street over the last couple weeks. Course, I assume the Dodgem bump cars will shut down within the next 2 weeks for its makeover into a maze.

I don't have a clue as to what mazes and/or scare zones will get the axe for 2014. Kings Dominion still has not tried out themes used at other Cedar Fair parks such as a Construction site, Werewolves, Witches/Warlocks, Frankenstein, the old West, gypsy's, etc.

Knotts Berry Farm has been on a roll churning out wonderful Haunt Themed attractions; a few of which have been re-created at KD. But, most current and recent KBF Haunt themes have yet to be tried at the park.

I would love to see Knott's Haunt maze based on the horror stories of Edgar Allen Poe make it to Kings Dominion. I think it would be pretty popular given that Poe lived in Richmond for a period of time (his girlfriend lived in Richmond as well).

I wonder if the park has any plans on what they will do with some of their new KD40 additions to the park. There are quite a few things they will have to work with creatively to fit in with the Halloween theme:

- Singing Mushrooms. There most realistic option here is to just let the mushrooms sing like normal and turn them off at night and leave them unlit. A small part of me hopes somebody was being extra thoughtful and programmed the mushrooms to sing Halloween songs (not likely at all, but just how amazing would that me?). They could at least dress up the mushrooms in vampire capes, witch hats, etc. to make them festive.

- Floral clock. A big wall of colorful flowers doesn't exactly scream "scary." Maybe they will put in some darker, fall plants. Another possibility would be to just decorate overtop of the structure (spiderweb it, cover it in bones, etc.). I guess this means there won't be room for the electric chair animatronic character, but that thing seemed so potentially controversial that it wouldn't be a horrible loss.

- Candy apples. Once again, bright red sweets don't scream "scary" unless they theme the scare zone after evil dentists (bu-dum, crash!). I highly doubt they will remove the candy apples for the season, so I suspect the candy apples will be covered with black tarp or something, leaving a canvas to be decorated upon. If the evil carnival theme returns, the could have different polka-dot/circus-y designs covering the apples, perhaps with signage on it. Should be easy to work in with the area's theme. For the apples that just sit on the ground, tents could be constructed to hide them and go with the carnival theme.

- International Street floral planter. This I see as the biggest issue because when the area in front of the fountains was flat, there was plenty of room to construct the skull-shaped structure for the Overlord's Resurrection show. Now with the raised planter, I wonder if they will be able to continue the show. There is still space behind the planter before the fountain pool starts. Perhaps the structure could be rebuilt so the back half of the stage sits on solid ground while the front rests on the planter. This should be stable enough and work okay. I guess we'll have to hold our breath here. It would be a shame to lose Overlord's Resurrection.

I'm pretty curious to see how the park addresses these little issues they've taken on.

While Miner's Revenger is being replaced, I believe we'll see at least 1 more new maze. I'm also thinking we'll see a new maze in Dodgem, replacing Medieval Macabre. This is one of the oldest mazes there, one of the weakest mazes detail wise, and is in the best location for a GREAT maze (well trafficked). Not only that, but the Singing Mushrooms replaced the photo booth for the maze, so if they don't replace it, it will be getting a new beginning. It just seems like a good year for it to be replaced overall.

I'm eager for Haunt teasers and construction to begin. Dodgem closes the first Monday in August nearly every year, so we should see everything beginning soon!

I am not so sure at this point that the park will totally scrap everything in Miner's Revenge. I could see the park re-using 60%-70% of the props and the mine/cave structure. I think a good chunk of the set can be salvaged and re-staged with a new concept.

Say the park decides to use a story-line of an explorer or a spelunker (cave explorer) who discovers a new cave and they disturb or awaken an underground monster(s) of some sort (orc's and/or goblins). They never return back. It is now up to you to discover their fate and will you be dealt the same?

It should be interesting to see if the park scraps everything and starts brand new or if they will go the route described above. Given the maze was brand new last year, I have a hard time seeing KD trashing everything. Time will tell.

In what way? I'm curious because a house's purpose is to create an uncomfortable situation. There wasn't anything like Fear Fair's chicken smell when I went.

Since the park is putting so much emphasis on past rides/attractions for their 40th, I think they should totally do a full on maze based on the park's former attractions. The park DID have Haunted River at one point.

Basic premises is similar to mwhinva's post about an explorer except instead of a generic cave theme, you could be a guest stumbling into KD's ride graveyard. Instead of monsters, just have sets based off of the park's past attractions.

- Haunted River is self explanatory
- Time Shaft could be a spinning vortex tunnel with a few added effects
- Hypersonic (my fave concept) just have a dark room with one of those air blasters like Root or Deadline. Then have an actor at the end banging on a loud trash can lol
- Safari could be an animal laboratory gone wrong
- Skyride could totally be one of those fear of heights rooms
- Train would be tough. Didn't the train have actors playing out a western skit in the middle of the layout? Maybe something like that but in zombie form or something

That really just leaves King Kobra, some of the apple rides, and Galaxie. I'm sure the park can come up with a concept for those. Maybe incorporate them into a segment based on past Haunt/Fear Fest mazes.

- Last I checked, the graveyard still had tons of old props and stuff. This would be an awesome way to repurpose that stuff and still have a new maze while reusing the old one.

I apologize if this has already been mentioned, but I've been hearing rumors of the Venetians not making a comeback this year to Haunt. Is this true? And if so, where/what/who is the source?

I believe this was in reference to my gross-out comment?

Slaughterhouse has things like bloody, butchered human torsos hanging in you way and on a rotisserie.

I don't mind if the park keeps Slaughter House another season. Though I think it needs a refresh. Maybe change out some props and/or redo the maze path.

I don't don't hear too much about the good or bad of this particular maze. Very little negativity on any fan site. I assume the public still enjoys it.

That's kind of one of the hallmarks haunted house, but okay...

I rather enjoy Slaughter House, it has some really cool aspects to it. A decent refresh could do it wonders.

Semi-Confirmed:
MAZE OF MADNESS returning for the 40th Celebration! Rumors are it is replacing Medieval Macabre.

This was always one of the park's most popular mazes and I'd love to see to see what they can come up with now that HAUNT is so much better than several years ago.

The room with the mirrors/strobes/hospital beds that they had in The Asylum back in 2011 needs to be recreated in this.
