Had the chainsaws last week. The last 2 days has been the 6 hours of stump grinding. If you think the chainsaws are bad wait until they grind the stumps. We're literally sitting here with earplugs.

BTW, if you are planning to attend this weekend the better day is going to be Saturday. Sunday they are forecasting rain.

I have a question about reserving a spot for Halloween Harvest (or even the upcoming Christmas event). A coworker and her family (family of 5) are pass members and when reservations/sales opened for Halloween Harvest, she booked the evening slots for every Friday & Saturday that the event is being held (she said she was able to get all of the Friday/Saturday dates). I have no problem with her or anyone doing this IF they actually go to the park, however she is booking the dates so that if they "decide" to go to the park that day, they will have a reservation on hand to get in. I asked her what about someone who wants to go but can't because she is holding 5 slots, not even knowing if she will actually use them. Her response was "not my problem, if I wanna go to the park when I want to, I want to be able to get in and not deal with this reservation crap." So my question is does BGW track no shows for members that book multiple dates/slots like she did and not show up for about half of the slots? Just curious. Thanks!

There is not, as far as we know, any attempt within the system to punish people for being disrespectful of other passholders by block-booking for the purpose of their own convenience. But provided that you have a strong enough relationship with your coworker to politely shame them, I recommend telling them that they should at the very least call and cancel the reservations if they know the morning of their visit they will not be attending so that someone else could use them. It doesn't sound like this person would be persuaded to do so, given the entitlement you suggest, but I guess I hold out hope that these people will do the reasonable thing if pushed.

If BGW is going to enforce or penalize no-shows, then their system needs to be able to facilitate electronic cancellations day-of, whether that is through the rescheduling tool, email, or a simple web form. Asking guests to call in day-of and wait on hold to cancel reservations is a total disincentive to much of anyone doing it.

Really all they need to do is simplify the process of cancelling reservations. Just send an email day of, or maybe even the day before, confirming that they have an upcoming reservation, and then provide a link to re-book or cancel. It’s too complicated of a process for the average fan and takes way too much time and energy, especially if you have to sit on the phone with the park day of for almost an hour. Most pass holders/members are already fed up with the reservation system and the capacity lock, making it easier to cancel reservations would allow others access to the park and make it less strenuous on members who can’t make it last minute. This event is grid locked and sold out across the board, but knowing that there’s a good chunk of people who won’t even show up or cancel their reservation out of sheer laziness only adds to the frustration.

What are we basing the good chunk statement on? My understanding is that the park has over sold several events and had people waiting to enter which to me points to either they are over selling by a much larger amount then we thought or that no shows are not happening as much as people are thinking.

I mean, in MY world the crippling guilt of feeling like you've robbed somebody else of an opportunity to go to the park is enough of an incentive to sit on the phone for 45 minutes, but then again this also meant that I didn't make dozens of reservations to begin with, and always cancel more than 24 hours before I do decide to bail on a reservation. Which is all to say that I don't think making it easier to cancel would necessarily make someone who makes this choice care at all about their fellow members. If they're entitled enough to schedule it this way, I don't think "it's hard to cancel" is the only barrier we're dealing with here.

I can’t make my reservation for 3 people tomorrow...what do I do? I can’t honestly figure out how to cancel. Please go easy on me, and help me open a slot for 3 people tomorrow..

This link should work - however the rebooking site never works for us; when trying to cancel a reservation it tells us "Your passes have already been scanned at the gate". We have not been able to change the reservations on this site successfully, has anyone? We feel terrible for not being able to cancel but now finding out we can call we'll just do that if it happens again, I definitely will sacrifice a 30-45 minute phone call to cancel for the opportunity for others to go.

^^-- I just rebooked next Wednesday to Monday yesterday. I also cancelled one previously. However I do think I've seen the "Your passes have already been scanned at the gate" but can't remember when.

The best thing for cancelling would be the system to work 100%. I actually wonder if they do anything with it if you call and cancel day of.

You can't cancel online within 24 hours typically. This is because they have already loaded the barcodes into the scanner system. At least that's the explanation I have heard.

That explains the already been scanned messages people have received - they should change their error codes if they can't change their process.

If this is the case then it's a little harsh to be shaming people for reserving a lot of slots and then backing out at the last minute since close in cancellations have no impact to ticket availability. Many people have busy schedules and weather can be unpredictable this time of year so forcing them to scramble and pick dates as soon as tickets becomes available is going to drive this type of hoarding behavior.

BGW really needs to limit how many reservations any member can have at any given time to 2 or 3, and if there are still sell outs start making stand-by tickets available for members as an additional option to help manage the demand and make this a fairer system.
