Close in cancellations can still have an impact. It's just my understanding that's why the your tickets already been scanned shows up online. You can call and they can override the cancel which will release new reservations. Then the barcode gets marked as inactive.If this is the case then it's a little harsh to be shaming people for reserving a lot of slots and then backing out at the last minute since close in cancellations have no impact to ticket availability. Many people have busy schedules and weather can be unpredictable this time of year so forcing them to scramble and pick dates as soon as tickets becomes available is going to drive this type of hoarding behavior.
BGW really needs to limit how many reservations any member can have at any given time to 2 or 3, and if there are still sell outs start making stand-by tickets available for members as an additional option to help manage the demand and make this a fairer system.
It's just a limitation in the system that they have. I don't know how hard it would be to have it fixed but that's what I've heard.
