How close to Williamsburg do you consider "in the area?"

I don't know how safe it is during COVID, but we enjoyed this farm haunt in past years. It is near Richmond, however, and over an hour from BGW.

Richmond might be a bit far from Busch but that looks very fun. I've never done one of those types of haunted places but Ashland Berry Farm might be a goal for next year (or this year depending on if I can convince my cohorts). Also on colonialwilliamsburg.org they're saying they're still doing covid-friendly events:

"Colonial Williamsburg is canceling the trick-or-treating portion of this year’s Haunting on DoG Street Halloween event due to continued health risks associated with COVID-19.

For a Halloween-themed experience this fall, check out our Haunted Williamsburg and Ghost Walk Junior ghost tours, which have been modified to comply with state and public health guidelines to reduce risks associated with COVID-19, including reduced capacity for tours and limiting programming to outdoor sites."

Is 'covid-friendly' the right term? ..Covid-compliant? Anyway, maybe the Replacement Event will be enough of a draw to make the trip up. I do hope they announce something soon though, now is when we're all trying to figure out what to do about Halloween. I'm not even sure if my neighborhood is trick-or-treating!

Hunt Club Farm in Virginia Beach. It’s 45-1 hour from Busch.

We're thinking about going to BGW for whatever this autumnal event turns out to be but I was also wondering if anyone knew of any other haunted tours or other fun activities to do in the area? With Colonial Wmsburg right there I'm hoping there's some spooky walkthrough or something perhaps?
If you stay The Historic Powhatan Resort they have a ghost hunting event at the manor house on Friday and Saturday nights. It's run by an actual paranormal research group. I know the guy who does and and went on investigations with him.

I believe they have haunted boat tours or something like that out of the country marina in Jamestown. They used to at least.
They still do it appears.

Yeah, typically the event reservations have gone up sometime between 10 and 11am, closer to 10am in most cases. So we should be seeing some clarity then. I'm sort of crossing my fingers for a surprise Member Preview night on the 30th, since I can't make the 1st or the 2nd.

Currently you can only see the reservation calendar for September, which is pretty much sold out. I'm guessing October has been taken down till the event goes live. Hopefully soon!

it’s up on those site and well i blame covid..

In terms of the time slots:

Friday & Sunday 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. In addition to thrill rides and delicious fall food offerings, kids are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costume and enjoy contactless trick-or-treating and a pumpkin scavenger hunt throughout the park’s participating villages. There will also be attractions in the popular Sesame Street Forest of Fun area, The Little Balloons and The Little Gliders for the enjoyment of our younger adventurers.

Saturday 3 – 7 p.m. As noted in the reservation sessions detailed above, from 3 – 5 p.m. kids are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Halloween costume enjoy treats by day with contactless trick-or-treating and a pumpkin scavenger hunt throughout the park’s participating villages. There will also be attractions in the popular Sesame Street Forest of Fun area, The Little Balloons and The Little Gliders for the enjoyment of our younger adventurers. However, at 5:00 p.m. trick-or-treating will conclude and the park will then be geared more towards an adult audience.

Thursday, Friday & Sunday 5 – 9 p.m. and Saturday 8 p.m. – 12 a.m. The nighttime trickery begins. Enhanced Halloween theming, roaming ghouls and goblins, thrill rides, delicious food and beverages from some of your favorites like Jack’s Nightcap will be offered during the evening session.

Curious how much chaos is caused by still enforcing the “kids stuff ends at 5” rule in a four hour time slot: will they be closing Sesame at 5? Will kids just, like, have nothing to do after that?

when do reservations go live? i dont see that mentioned anywhere

edit: nvm see it tucked down allllll the way at the bottom

I'm a little nervous that DaVinci's Cradle isn't included given how often it wasn't running last year. Hopefully they're just giving it some rest and/or leaving it for high capacity days, but it's one of my favorite flats in the park!

Im sure they figured it out from the past events but 1 hour between events seems tight. I know one night we rode Verbolten right at the end of the night and after riding we started heading out. By the time we took a bathroom break and one more to wash hands right before exiting it was almost a hour past closing and there were still plenty of cars left. How will they work the parking lots with only 1 hour? If they dont start letting people in early lines will be huge and people will spend half their time waiting at the toll booth. I am excited for the 8-12am slot though. It would be nice i you had a back to back slot there was a area of the park you could go to stay so you didnt have to leave and come back through parking, security and temp screening.

This.

With Finn’s being essentially a supped up version of BR and Pantheon construction going on, I would’ve much preferred some rides on DaVinci’s Cradle.

I definitely think that the days of half-hour early openings of the toll booth are probably gone for Saturdays due to the change in time slots.

It’s one of many reasons I have no desire to deal with Saturdays during this event.

Edit: Although, I suppose if they wanted to, they could use the France parking lot for the 3-7pm slot, which feels like it would be the least attended.
