Alright genuine question, has anyone that posts on this thread ridden the clone of Griffon in South Korea? I figure it’s unlikely. If not do you know anyone that has ridden it out of curiosity?

If you didn’t know there was an actual copy of Griffon out there, yup. It’s just in South Korea. Almost want to call it a bucket list ride just because I grew up with Griffon being like the big exciting ride opening in my teens in Virginia. That said if I went to South Korea of all places I’d have many other priorities specifically T-Express and Lotte World. ……oh and I guess other South Korea…….things (/s on that part just poking fun at my enthusiasm 😂)

how is that internet bullying? Lol people can be so soft.
Sarcasm by nature is intended to make people feel stupid or inadequate.

How is that response supposed to come off to me? "Hey you're dumb for a giving a sh*t about a clone of a ride at our local park on the other side of the world at all there's copied rides everywhere!" is literally what that comes off as to the author of that initial post. I don't understand how I am being soft for calling it out. Forgive me for expressing coaster enthusiasm.

I made a joke, since there are dive coasters everywhere, much less South Korea. Sure this specific one may be almost exactly like Griffon, just to me they are all the same.

Would say calling me an "internet bully" for that one is an interesting take. A small goofy quip that isn't directed to you personally is not at all supposed to be taken as "lol you're dumb". Apologies if it offended you, and I wouldn't flat out call you soft, but I would say you should tend to think the joke is being made at the overall subject, not at who you are personally.

A bit of an odd request but, does anyone here have a clip of the Griffon announcement? It had a small production that went along with it. I think it was at a pass member event at the end of the 2006 season.

We got the better ride, but I think Sheikra would’ve presented better from the plaza. Griffon’s second drop is pretty hidden, and Sheikra’s would’ve towered over the pathway.
Funny, I have the opposite opinion. I prefer Sheikra’s layout, but I think Griffon is better suited for BGW. The second drop towards the Rhine and the second Immelmann on the other side of the river help the coaster feel more integrated into the landscape of the park, and that second Immelmann is just so picturesque from the San Marco Bridge and Grimm’s Landing. Not interacting with the Rhine would’ve been a missed opportunity.

That said, a “tower” before the splashdown like Sheikra has would’ve been a cool addition.

He found it? Just sitting there? Like on the ground?
Yep on a concrete ledge outside Drachen fire’s station. I was 17 at the time working as a ride operator on Apollo’s chariot.

I was fascinated with Drachen, while exploring outside DF station one evening while in the park as a guest I found a binder sitting on the ledge of the station. Inside were multiple lighting schematics for curse of Darkastle. As well as multiple plan alternatives for 2007 attraction. Multiple variations of how they may develop the new France area (games, rock climbing, food)

The most exciting was the document that I scanned that you see. Rumors were already going around Busch that we may get a dive coaster. This was almost guaranteed proof. I was an idiot and posted about it on a coaster forum at the time. Word got around to the park and I got a call down to corporate office.

At first they played it really cool, they just wanted the binder back, which I complied with. Afterwards, they suspended me while Busch in St. Louis contemplated my employment. I was terminated a few days later, and went off to enjoy my freshman year at Virginia Tech.

On the one hand, that was obviously a bad idea to snoop around restricted areas and take anything not meant for guest consumption from the park - I know I can't condone those actions.

On the other, why the heck would there be a binder full of interesting concepts and plans lying around near an abandoned coaster station - shouldn't those sorts of things be in an office somewhere unless actively being used by staff?

And on the other other hand (maybe a foot, I guess?), given this was in the early 00's if I'm reading the story correctly, if any direct copies were made, they could be valuable as historical documents... Though I'm pretty sure posting them anywhere won't be with permission and they'll know who did it.
