Pardon my ignorance, but what does 'upper trough' mean in this context?

The upper trough is the chain trough that guides the lift chain on top of the track.

The lower trough is the trough that is suspended below the track which guides the lift chain back down to the tail sprocket or drive system. Also referred to as the return trough on most coasters.

On an inverted coaster with a chain lift. The return trough is the upper trough. And the lower trough is what guides the train up the lift.

Hello! I'm new here... thought I'd make a little review on Griffon, and I will do so for every other ride on this forum. I love it. It's my 3rd favorite coaster in the park behind Apollo & Pantheon. I love how smooth it is, and the floater that you get on it. B&M OTSR rock!!! They're so comfy and nice. That first drop always gets me, especially in the back. The feeling of going from almost completely leveled to 90 degrees that fast is insane, and you get pure ejector. That mid-course really slows the ride down, but it does offer a pretty nice view of Nessie. I love the whip of the Immelmanns and that little airtime moment you get right before hitting the brakes, I gotta give it a 9/10. This ride is pure awesomeness. Below is my ride on it back in July 2022. The little kid next to me is my brother, he loved it! He doesn't have the best roller coaster face however. Griffon Rider-Cam Video

Yeah that’s my thought process at this point even though I’m sure it’s not the reason. I’m going tomorrow anyway. Maybe they’ll surprise me with the Roman gods out of nowhere.
