$5 for a bottle of water? $7.50 for popcorn? $18 FOR A TURKEY LEG?!

Normally I'm not phased by prices at parks but Jesus, these seem insane even for the park market, right? It's always hard for me to justify buying food/drinks in-park given that I have the meal and drink plans, but with prices like those, there's no chance in hell.
Is it bad that from being to so many live sporting events, I don't think that's terrible pricing?

Hook & Ladder having hand-scooped ice cream is a big win. If they put some signage out along the nearby pathways, I could see it getting really popular.

The Coca-Cola ice cream shop up front always seems to be closed, so hopefully Hook & Ladder ends up being open more consistently.

Same. We took our daughter to the circus at the Philly arena a few weeks ago, and these were the prices. Over $9 for a soda, over $10 for nachos. At another stand, it was $20 for a cheesesteak, $28 if you wanted it with fries.

In their defense, a chessesteak at most of the independent shops in Philly proper will run you at least $15, so that markup isn't too bad. But yeah $9 for a soda (especially if it's a fountain drink that's gonna be watered down and mostly ice) is ridiculous.

15 years ago when I was working concessions at a music venue we charged 3.99 for a water a dollar more today feels about right with inflation.

I guess this is probably the best place to put this. But operation feel very rocky today. I seen many people with pass issues and rides just cycling extremely slowly. Food operation are slow and disorganized in my experience. I honestly feel like in skipping a preview night this year KD missed a golden opportunity to smooth out nany noticeable wrinkles before opening fully to the general public. Hopefully with a weekend under their belt things will quickly improve.

The thing is, I think the park would actually sell way more water bottles if they priced them around $2.50–$3 instead of $5.

At $5, a lot of people just opt for the free water cups. But if you make bottled water feel like a reasonable purchase, more people will skip the cups—and that probably leads to higher overall sales.

I’ve been noticing this too at most food places. In particular there’s supposedly an issue with dining plans on the legacy six flags memberships and Carowinds home park passes. Apparently guest services has a workaround they can process to get it to work though. Other than seeing these pass issues, I’ve not noticed any big hiccups other than typical fist few week issues in the past.

I haven’t had any issues with my pass, nor any of my friends passes, but we all have kings dominion based passes. What is strange though, and I’m 90% sure I only got the regular season long drink plan (not the plus). But I’ve been asked multiple times if I want to get a icee or a hot beverage with my drink plan. I even opted to get an icee an saw they selected that button and it went through no problem.

Food operations were definitely on the slow side. Guests and employees were having issues at Victoria's Pizza when it came to pass and their meal plans. Some of the employees at the registers seemed to be needing help from supervisors. Operations on rides didn't seem too bad from what I saw, but we also didn't ride Twisted Timbers today with that also running one train and the line being long as it was, even with Fast Lane.

Speaking of Fast Lane, I'll admit it wasn't as tedious as I thought it would be. That said, I really wish and hope they bring back the wristbands. The battery on my phone is really good, but by the time I left at 4, my battery was at 55%. And I've been at the park a lot longer in the past without it dropping below 65%. There were a few ride attendants that mentioned about not being a fan of the new system. Some were having issues scanning our QR codes a couple of times. I also think it's a bit annoying that it has to be used off a website instead of the actual Six Flags app which would be more convenient.

With all that being said, it was pretty good opening day. A few other things I noticed

-Grizzly Falls water cannon game is no longer there and boarded up with a few chairs and tables in it's place

-Some early work being done in Soak City as well

Fascinating. I went to guest services and they told me they couldn't see any legacy Six Flags membership addons and I was told I would have to speak to corporate—they didn't offer any solution at the park level today.

Preferred parking was also not working for grandfathered Six Flags memberships. Guest services said that's a known issue but again, no real solution since the car was already parked by then. Seems like if it's a known issue, they should be comping people with preferred parking at the booths automatically? Seems like a simple solution...

Also also, speaking of guest services, the removal of the guest services counter inside the park is a complete nonstarter. Being forced to exit and re-enter to fix issues is absurd.

Im sorry you were having these issues too. I’m gonna assume the workaround for dining plans I saw were for the Carowinds passes that were having issues today. When I was talking to one pass holder, they didn’t have any issues with their pass until they got to a dining location in the park. It worked for them for parking gate, preferred parking gate, and getting into the park. Their fast lane also worked, after I helped them link the portal to their pass (this is the only confusing thing I’ve had with the new system too). Where they were having issues was when they were going to any dining location, they would get an error saying something along the lines of “account mapping error” on the POS system. They said that guest services had to “re-do” something on the account and it allowed the discounts and dining/drink plans to pop up as expected.

As an anecdote to all of this: back in the fall of 2025, I went to Carowinds. I tried to use my pass barcode in the KD app, and it worked no problem at the parking gate but it would give a invalid scan at the park gate itself, the supervisor who came over said I had to use my account in the Carowinds app instead and that it wouldn’t work on the KD app. So I was able to login to my online account in the Carowinds app, but I couldn’t link my season pass on it. Worth noting that I saw other people using their season passes on their phones that night and they had the regular barcode version six flags uses (not the QR code format legacy cedar fair uses). Eventually guest services caved in and printed me a one time barcode for my pass to use at the gate. But once in the park, I had no issue using the KD app pass QR code at the vip lounge and when using the drink and dining plans. Nowadays, it’s all the same in the six flags app, but we should be having all of these integration issues with the different pass/membership products like unfolded today.

It's the movie theater popcorn "Decoy Effect" pricing. Instead of buying bottled water, people end up opting for larger cups of soda. (See below but instead of "Small" its the free tiny cup of water).

It wasn't just legacy SF passes that were having issues I know of peopls with both Carowinds and Cedar Point as home parks that had issues.

But to be clear I wasn't just talking about system issues but also operation in general. For example I went to Outpost for a meal a round 3:30 and ended up with only a choice of chicken tenders as a meal because they ran out of every other option not because they were out but because no one was bothering to tell the food prep people hey this is getting low start some more just waiting for it to run out and then going hey we need this. No one could also tell me how to get access to my one time fast lane that comes as part of my prestige pass. I also went to purchase something and the person working register was like I don't know how to scan your pass for your discount if you want it you will have to wait for a supervisor to get free to show me.

If someone who did use them today could explain how they did it, that would be great. I was expecting a button to show up in the app to take me to the web portal a la the old Six Flags setup, but I can't figure out how to access the page. I asked at guest services and was told to go to the upgrade counter and they'd give them to me—so the old KD system—but I was at the upgrade counter moments beforehand and they seemed to have no idea what my pass even was. Ended up just giving up on the front of the lines today and leaving. If anyone figured it out, please share!

don't even get me started on the "Walking Taco." $13 for a gentrified version of the cheapest meat-based indigestion imaginable

I was able to get the single use fast lane as part of my prestige pass to work. The first time in the portal, and setting up so it links your pass is kinda tricky. Here are the steps I took to get it to work (Ill edit this tomrrow when im at KD again on Sunday and do it again):

  1. When you sign in using the same login with your six flags app, there is a option I believe towards the top of the screen that says "Add my fast lane"
    1. If its the first time logging in you add your season pass number (it works with both the 20-digit number code in the app, and 8-digit letter/number code on the older KD pass cards).
  2. Click on single use fast lane (I don't remember exact wording on this)
  3. You'll see a menu of the eligible fast lane rides in the park, if they're open or closed, and what the current estimated wait time is. Select the ride you wanna use the fast lane for, then select "Get on with my single use"
  4. You can then get the fast lane on your phone, I have an iPhone so I added it to my apple wallet. Itll generate a QR code once the current minute is lapsed, so if you confirmed you wanted to use the fast lane at lets say 1:00 p.m. it will generate the QR code at 1:01 p.m.
  5. Have the QR code scanned at the merge point by the employee in line then get on the ride like normal.
You also have the option to cancel the ride selection and re-do the selection in the app too. I haven't messed with this yet.

I used my single use fast lane today on flying eagles, since I do like riding it but I dont like the slow load/unload process and limited capacity. I had no issues using it or having it scanned at the ride.
I get that this seems such a convoluted system, but I was able to use this benefit. But I do wish there were more communication and instruction on how this works from the park though.

On another note, theres an option in the portal to buy the fast lane for the same day and same price as on the Six flags app/website, but theres no extra service fees when buying it in the portal.

Once again, ill edit this reply once I go though the steps again .
