So, I am thinking the park will turn into what Tampa is like, as far as ticketing and schedules go. Different prices though, and with a resort.

Dark rides sound cool! But it doesn't sound like there will be a new coaster until 2016 at the earliest. I know Busch is looking for the family and dark rides, but any more additions to the coaster line-up would be pretty cool. Busch could use a flyer or a floorless, imo.

Quick tip, for a family of four buy 1 Season Pass and 3 Fun Cards. Then you get the best of both worlds.

Exactly! A family of passmembers are essentially being ripped off. A pass is only worth the price if you are going to use any and all of those discounts on a regular basis. The food discount does not make it worth it whatsoever. Someone can list all of the "benefits" all they want to. The biggest draw to a pass ten years ago was the unlimited admission. Now you can have that for a fraction of the cost.

Both passes have their places. I don't see what all the fuss is about...

If a family plans on going to the park multiple times during the regular season, then maybe a few times to HOS, and then ChritsmasTown the season pass is clearly worth it. There is no way to argue that.

Now, for a family who goes only during the regular season, sure the Fun cards would be the better deal.

There's a reason they have multiple options when it comes to passes.

Yes, they have multiple admission tickets/passes for all sorts of reasons. Each on has its own benefit. You just have to find the one that benefits you.

Agreed. The big factor that I use is the cost of the parking, which I did with my SFA pass. This can add up.

I suppose this thread has gone off topic just a tad long enough. As for the future of the park, I think we can expect to see Howl-o-Scream being a charged event and Christmas Town free, with that said. Christmas Town hours will probably start at 10am to make it an event that happens during normal park operating hours, since after all, that is the reason why it is a separate event now.

As for expansions and such, I think the resort/train station/new country is a 4 year plan that will unravel itself like the 3 year Oktoberfest renovation plan. First the resort, then a train station to service the resort and then a new country to enter the park though from the resort.

Also, a huge push for darkrides makes sense because they can operate year round no matter what the weather is outside. The question: Can the park attract enough people during the current off-season to stay afloat?

Doubt it.

Unless we have a MAJOR climate shift to where this area has mild weather during the off-season you won't see people flocking to the Williamsburg, VA in the middle of winter. The park's major draw are the coasters. Nobody will come to the park in the dead of winter to ride a few dark rides.

I agree with your point as well and don't think anybody will come down either. The only way they will bring in bodies in the park, is a indoor coaster.

Yes roller coasters are a major factor, but I doubt that is the only thing that the majority of park guests really think about. I would say, rides in general will bring guests. If you can open as much rides as you can, you can will attract more people. Remember, they only have 5 coasters, soon to be 6 next year, I doubt every guest comes for those. After all, they don't have their coasters mainly advertised on TV commercials, and radio commercials, and all around like other parks. They advertise and really push towards a family environment, and super tall, super fast, and super big coasters are not necessarily family oriented, unless they were children's coasters.

Plus, if they advertise the new dark rides as if they were a major coaster, many people will really want to get to the park to ride it. For example, one night at the park entrance a family comes in and the first thing I hear from them is, "Is Curse of DarKastle open?" Because that is the one thing they really wanted to ride. My point is, major dark rides can pull in bodies too, not just coasters.

Post on other park's forums. Their number one reason for visiting is the class collection of coasters. They would HAVE to have a seasonal price in order to draw crowds. People will not pay the same price for a couple to no coaster as they do for everything when the park is fully operational. Busch is not an idiot on that part, they would have lower pricing through March when their season typically commences.

I would think they can open year round however cut admission down to half of what it is at least, that way the reduced cost will being in people as well as whatever new dark rides they develop.

The Wild Maus is being used in Tampa, and honestly I don't see it making a return unless Tampa finds something to replace it.

I think he meant building a new one. Wild Mouses arent super expensive rides and by the time they took it down, shipped it, and out it up, it would probably be easier just to buy a new one.

You guys really want the park open from January to March? No offense but once all the christmastown lights are down and no coasters are running, what would make people want to go into the park? 3 dark rides and some shows is not enough to justify keeping park operations open and guests there. Are you kidding? That would be miserable.

^This. I can see them opening March-December (including November) just like Dollywood is, but January-March, no. The only parks that are open like that in the USA are either in Florida or Southern Cali. Not even SWTx is open year round.

What, I meant is that they can build a Wild Mouse indoor which can be a dark ride and it can run year round in all kinds of weather.

I remember back in the day when I was little (70s) the park had the scrambler inside a building and the cool it had strobe and chasing lights were use as part of effects as the ride was running.
