Presumably if the rumor is true and Fun Spot really is in dire financial straights, the cost to disassemble, relocate, and reconstruct AF1 in Orlando would be way out of the realm of possibility.

This is really strange....not surprised the park is going away but Arie Force demo is crazy to me. Yes it's big but we've seen B&Ms of this size relocated, plus the structure is entirely made out of steel. I cannot imagine there is NO ONE out there would be interested in it who would pay more than the value they would get back scrapping this thing.

Fun Spot literally had this park in the bag.

ALL they needed to do was market the place to locals. When I was there, nobody knew the park let alone a 13 million dollar world class coaster even existed there. That's a huge problem.

Cheap beer, open late, cheaper than Six Flags, no parking fees, world class coaster - in this economy, people would eat that shit up in a heartbeat.

Its a damn shame Orlando management was so incompetent when they bought this park expecting it to bring millions of dollars without any marketing. 0.001% of the population cannot support a park like this. It needs locals to come regularly.

And its so weird. Orlando markets their parks literally everywhere. Why couldn't they do the same in Atlanta.

Damn, I have plans to be in Atlanta in September and it's going to royally piss me off if the park closes before then. I went in 2022 when ArieForce One was supposed to open only to see it partially built, so if I miss out on what most consider a top ten coaster in the US by a few weeks I'm going to be mad.

Am I the only one who been to this park and is not surprised at all? Everything aside from Aire Force One might as well have been being held together with duct tape. My ride on Hurricane was the closest I've ever come to feeling like I was going to die on a ride. On an absolutely beautiful day, there was only maybe two dozen other people in the park with me. They have a literal "rotating tunnel" from a fun house as a stand alone attraction. Like if you've been to the Florida parks and thought they were janky, this place will destroy all of your expectations. Yes, it sucks that the thoosie community will be losing this absolutely bonkers ride, but nothing else of value will perrish.

To summarize with a quote from that report:
But yeah, AFO is absolutely nuts. Is it worth a trip to this park if you're not going to be in the area anyway? Not really...but ride it while you can since I have no idea how this park survives.

Do we have any proof besides for the document and park management? As much as I don't want to believe it I also need to remember that I may just be in denial of such a thing. But also, I am very much skeptical, as the total value on the 2025 assessment was $5,021,543, so they're planning to demolish a place worth 5 million dollars for a 20 million dollar write-off?

Haven’t been there myself, but my brother went last year when he was picking up his student visa before he moved to Japan and most conversations we’ve had around the park are how unsustainable it is. For someone like him who drinks maybe once a year (and it’s never beer), there is virtually zero draw to the park other than AF1. He was fairly certain there weren’t even 20 other people in the park when he went.

That’s the EXACT same fate that the FunPlex Myrtle Beach had. They didn’t market it enough, it went belly up after 4 seasons. Kind of ironic if funspot Atlanta’s Hook n Slice, FROM the FunPled Myrtle Beach, goes under with it. It will have seen the closure of two parks.

The Lake Winnie report (I kept scrolling past the sad write-up on Fun Spot Atlanta) is great and the comparison between the two parks is such a contrast. I don't believe Fun Spot Atlanta has a lake, so advantage Lake Winnie, but there are similarities between rides (far less of them at Fun Spot). With arrangement of them all by somebody who looks like they give a damn, Fun Spot could have been more appealing. And like others said, marketing is so important. This is a sad situation, made more so because it looks very preventable.

When I was in Atlanta last year, I just stopped at Six flags because I've never been and the group I was with did not want to go to two parks while we were in town. Really kicking myself for not making it to Fun Spot. It is just hard to justify the time to go over there when the only thing worth doing is AF1.

Would actually be a real shame if no one does buy AF1 from them. It’s an elite ride…
If its possible, someone will. An all-steel, recently-built, elite RMC at a discount is an extremely rare opportunity. I'm already bored at work so I'm gonna make a shortlist of parks that A. Have the space, B. Have the gap in their lineup, and C. Have the means to buy and transport it.

It's definitely not possible for Fun Spot to retain the ride if the Atlanta park closes. I have not a clue if it'd be completely cost prohibitive for a chain like Six Flags to disassemble and reassemble an all-steel structure that's only a handful of years old.

SFOG, Kings Island and Carowinds come to mind as parks that need major new thrill coasters and have space that can be manipulated to install the ride. But would that be more costly than a brand-new addition straight from a manufacturer?

I need to plan a trip to Atlanta... 😢

Holiday World, Lost Island, COTAland & Adventureland are a few parks that come to mind

IMO Holiday World would be the ones who’d benefit from it the most cause the Red White & Blue color scheme and trains don’t need to be changed cause they could slap it in their 4th of July section and have it be perfect

I was thinking Holiday World too but I don't think they have the space.

Lost Island, though, would be interesting (but likely not feasible financially). My money would be on Herschend if anyone grabs it. Although I think SFGrAdv would be the best fit. Welcome back Great American Scream Machine
Yeah honestly. Great Adventure would make a ton of sense for that
