Yarp. I was just saying that you can find a carnival atmosphere in more than just the flags in France or Oktoberfest. I think the real issue is the color of the flags.

But I think the colors were chosen more for Illuminights as they match the lights and theme of the area during that time.

Do they fit in now without Illuminights? Nope. But I think that may be what the park was going for with them.

Nora, if you had ever been to Disneyland before they overhauled Fantasyland in 1983, the theming of that land used to be similar to Festa Italia but with a medieval twist...Lots of colorful "tent" facades, etc.

You underestimate how old I actually am. When I went to Disney... it was 1980 and I have never been to DisneyLand. In fact, I have never actually set foot in California except for the airport going to Japan.

Interesting comparisons of general structure and framework. What do you think?

I think it's supposed to be the Eiffel Tower, they just didn't construct the top. The railing on the top and construction design on the sides is extremely similar. After looking at the real thing, I can clearly see it's modeled after it.

So they ended up building 1/3rd of the Eiffel tower? Sorry, I didn't get to see that yesterday. We went around the bottom through Italy & Germany. Never went through Ireland/France this time like usual.

Only there during Illuminights.

OMG! This is better than I EVER expected LaBelle to look! Fantastic! So, so, so happy with the way it turned out.

Not to get picky though, but with the second floor having windows now, the Turrets look like they need second floor windows too, just a suggestion.

Happy otherwise.

I hate to say it... but I think the towers need flags. Not the shitty ones they had before, but like some long triangle ones with some sort of French crest on them.

I agree with this. Also, the roof is still in desperate need of replacement. It's looking very, very rough.

I'm more than slightly out-of-the-loop. The angel statue: is it back in its original location in the brick circle (where they had the Eiffel Tower)?? The picture above shows it against a wall. Thanks

The elongated fleur de lis topiaries are a bit, er, phallic.

The original location would actually be in the courtyard where the backstage door is...

More pics to add for France:

I am absolutely blown away. Honestly I had no real problems with what I saw last weekend, but GOOD LORD. I love it all, especially the France update, and I really really hope that the French cafe stays beyond the festival. That cafe makes the area.

I'm going to the park on Thursday but I'm thinking I need to go for a few hours Friday to just try the food. -wishing for early tastings Thursday night-

France really is looking nice. Lots of little detail things to check out. Too many pics to post one at a time. Y'all should definitely go check out the new cafe area. It is awesome!! It may be my new favorite place to hang out and relax. We usually just pass through France.

Looks like some of the powers that be really DO read these forums. :)
I don't suppose any of them could still do all of us a favor & add lasagna to the Italy Ristorante menu, hmm??
