Seen an ad for the F&FW on the electronic billboard at the base of the high rise bridge going home today. So they are advertising down here in Chesapeake. I've also seen ads for the Kidz Bop and InvadR on it earlier this spring.

Can someone with experience speculate what the crowds will be like on Monday (or link the crowd calendar, which I can't seem to find at the moment)?

The crowd calendar has green but I am skeptical. I expect at least moderate crowds until late afternoon. It should die down pretty quickly since most school systems will be open Tuesday. At least that's what I'm hoping. I'm getting into town Sunday afternoon.

Did F&W today with my Mama and had a great experience! All weather aside, we started with baklava from the Greece booth. Then decided to buy a ten item sampler deal at the Asia booth. We each got an order of dumplings that were delicious. I still say put a third dumpling in there, but quantity and quality are two different things. Then we hit the carribean booth and each got gamba fritters and I tried the loose cannon brew. Again, fantastic food and beverage. From there we visited the Hawaii booth and split the chicken with purple sweet potato salad. This dish was very well prepared, but lacked any unique flavor in my opinion. Our last booth was Virginia. We got she crab soup, honey bacon hush puppies, and the bacon pecan dessert bars. My favorite here was the hush puppies, but all was delish. I also had the porter on tap here that was teeming with chocolate aromas and aftertaste. All of this and a ride here and there made for a really great trip to BG today. Looking forward to a couple more F&W visits.

We went today also. Arrived around 430 and the virginia booth was super crowded so we headed over to Ireland where they were out of mash for the entrée I wanted. Oh well will hit it tomorrow. The Hawaiian booth had the chicken, desert and the hibiscus lemonade. I agree with the previous poster that it was not enough flavor but the sweet potato slaw was suprisingly good. My wife who doesn't like sweet potatoes even enjoyed it. The coconut dessert was very good as well as the lemonade. Had the BLT and cordon bleu crepes. Both were very good and went back and forth on which we liked better. We will try the spinach and strawberry tomorrow. Then to the new orleans booth. This was a big dissapointment. I consider New Orleans my favorite American food city and was really looking forward to this booth. The gumbo was too bland and just didn't have the texture or flavor right. I did really like the bananas foster cheesecake. I must admit I love bananas foster (have eaten at Brennans and even had 5 servings at one sitting before at the Paris buffet). By far the biggest dissapointment was the beignets. They were NOT beignets. It was filo dough fried with honey and powdered sugar. Definitely not close to cafe du monde or others in the city. The kids loved them and they tasted good but more like deep fried baklava . After that headed to Canada and was pleasantly suprised. We got all 4 dishes and liked them all. The mac and cheese portion was a little small but the deer sausage over polenta with carmalized onions was fabulous and easily won dish of the day for both of us. After riding some rides with minimal wait times we stopped by Italy on our way out of the park toward closing. They were out of the tiramisu but ordered the Panna cotta and every one loved it so much we got 2 more. We have 4 kids so it wasn't as pigging out as it sounds:) We are going back tomorrow and looking forward to visiting all the other booths.

Has anyone done the Rhine river cruise? Debating doing it but was curious to hear some feedback about it first.

This is what it says...

"Date Night on the Rhine
There is nothing nicer than a cruise along the Rhine River in the heart of the World's Most Beautiful Theme Park - unless you add a sampling of food, various wines and beers.
ADULTS ONLY cruises available at 7:00PM & 8:00PM during our Food & Wine Festival"

You probably found the oysters hard to find in the Gaspascho con Ceviche because it is a vegan dish this year. The name is a misnomer because instead of oysters, they used oyster mushrooms. I was very disappointed by this, because in the past this was one of my favorite dishes.

They should say that in the description. Otherwise, I consider it a blatant lie to those who love seafood.

Thanks for the heads up! I have never even heard of oyster muchrooms so a description wouldn't have helped me lol but this saved me from trying it when I go tomorrow.

Attended the F&W Festival today and I thought it was fairly good overall. However, I did have one major issue. I purchased the $66 deluxe food and beverage sampler, as I was excited to try several types of the beers listed on the website. However, once reaching the park I learned that many (likely around 40%-50%) of the beers were NOT included in the sampler. On the website or the pass it says NOTHING about certain beers being excluded.

"Mix and match 15 entrées, desserts, 10 oz. beer, 4 oz. wine, 10 oz. specialty beverage samples (excludes shots, frozen beverages, & cocktails)"

and

"Only valid on Fri., Sat., and Sun., May 26 - July 2, 2017 for up to FIFTEEN Food & Wine Festival entrées, desserts, beer, wine, or specialty beverage sample items only. Excludes shots, frozen beverages, & cocktails. Wine and scotch tastings are excluded and are sold separately. Must be 21 years of age to purchase or consume alcoholic beverages."

I will be contacting the park about this, because it was disappointing. I know several of the beers are more expensive and likely harder to get. I have no problem with them not allowing some of the beers to be included in the sampler, however, that should be noted BEFORE a purchase is made.

Yeah I had the same issue and thoughts on that.
