Right.

My impression was always that the intent of the F&WF when it was created was to provide unusual flavors and cuisines, to which average BGW guests might not have easy, regular, or any access.  It seemed to be marketed to foodies.

"The park will celebrate what Busch Gardens® does best, offering guests a taste of Europe through amazing culinary offerings. The food festival will feature special foods and beverages not normally found at Busch Gardens. Busch Gardens is bringing the great sights, sounds and aromas of world-class cuisine out of the kitchen and into the park so guests can sample authentic tastes of Europe at the world’s most beautiful theme park."

My guess is that the perennial success of the most mundane dishes, like the Canadian mac 'n cheese, has probably lead to this unfortunate move away from the exotic and towards the familiar.

What is the possible purpose in serving the same food most guests make in their own kitchens and can buy up the street?  If I want Virginia ham, I will make myself one for much less money.

I notice that several of the "new" item are really just things served at the park's regular restaurants.  I feel as if the park has completely backed off of its original vision, and it makes me sad.

For what it's worth, the German chocolate cake was removed from Das Festhaus' menu several years ago. It's been longingly missed by many people ever since.

The desserts in Italy are just the normal desserts at MP Marketplace.

I understand that. You seemed to be replying/adding on to Mrsdecember's comment regarding the removal of the Linzer Torte, since the German chocolate cake seems like something that may be on Das Festhaus' menu. I also perceive, from previous remarks, that you may not eat at Das Festhaus often enough to know specifics about its dessert menu, so I was just making sure there were no misconceptions regarding the German chocolate cake, the Linzer Torte's replacement.

I am livid about the "German Chocolate Cake". There is nothing German about it. The man that invented it was a Mr. German. Otherwise, it is as American as you can get. They should just return it to Das Festhaus under a different name.

Also; even if they used real German chocolate, that is almost like sacrilege to a German. They wouldn't cook with quality chocolate, because the flavor is lost in cooking. At least the Linzer Torte was authentic.

...heaven forbid one of the most popular and well-received events in the park's history has a misstep...

My main question is on why so many are hung up on the VA booth? Carowinds has an entire event based on the cuisine of the two states surrounding it. We have a booth (with a pretty lacking selection other than the she-crab).

Because, at least my understand was, the point of Food and Wine was to introduce new foods. Better quality VA ham, prepared in a traditional way, for far less money can be found just down the road, at Pierces. She Crab Soup or Crab Cakes of what I assume will be of superior quality can be had at any number of local eateries.

It just makes no sense.

So by that logic are the VA craft beers served in the Brauhaus a waste of time and money?

Personally I believe the menu at the booth is extremely lackluster however I don't think the booth is a detriment to the festival. Y'all said something similar about how the Carribean would expand the festival in the wrong direction... Fast forward two years and it's one of the most if not the most popular booth.
