Here's what I had yesterday at the F&WF:

Germany - Schinken Nudel, German Carrot Cake
Scandavia - Frozen Dirty Shirley, Krumkake

All were very good except for the Krumkake. It tasted ok but not worth $3.

I had the chance to meet Burton Farnsworth the other day and the guy is amazing! If you like animation or illustration; you should check out his stuff and just how detailed he is with his sugary cake creations.

Can we apply this logic to Pirates 4D and other things? :p

The fact that no one has burst out in passionate rage about anything other than school groups and a purple... tower is probably a pretty good sign for the park.

Speaking of the thing, it's time for a purple tower update! This purple tower update is brought to you by Nora of BGW Memories. You're welcome internet.

I think that the idea of having French posters on it would be great and would tie it in more to the French Hamlet. Like these (see attached)

I believe it is supposed to look like an Advertisement kiosk that you see in older big cities like London, New York, Paris..etc..

What would even be better is if someone in house at the park made signage to replicate the vintage French Art for the events of the food & wine festival.

Though this is true, as I have looked these things up, I still say what were they thinking? Couldn't something else have been chosen to represent France? Something less...phallic?

Now if we can just have a Toga party sometime.

Actually, the park does have those Vintage French Art signs, just posted them other places, and they represent Illuminights.

PR- There has been poster art in France for years and not just for Illuminights. But I was saying that also using this post as a way to "tie-in" the look and feel of the hamlet by adding similar art would be easy to do and give more purpose. That is some good real estate there. F&W fest advertisement would be nice; but making the ads look more like "vintage french advertisement art" would be even better.

Come to think of it- the post is in a great location to have signage to direct guests to the French, Belgian, and Crepe/ Coffee locations when you are walking to the area from New France.

So, here's what I had.

Irish Cheese Sampling
Kottbular (meatballs)
Rahmgulasch (stew in a pastry)
Panna Cotta
Tiramisu
Hazelnut Custard
Halloumi (grilled cheese)
Pumpkin Carmel mousse

I'm not doing reviews on them, but I will say I loved everything.

Two big, consistent complaints around here about the direction of the park the past few years:

A) The park is becoming too "kid friendly."

B) The park is moving away from it's "European roots."

I think this event blows those concerns out of the water for the time being. Hopefully, they'll get credit where credit is due. ;)

^^ "I think they like the idea, Hoov."

Sorry, couldn't resist. We could always do the Toga thing as a end of the season celebration! Of course, we'll be freezing our butts off by then, but who cares!! lol

I'd just like to point out to anyone at the park whose reading this that your website doesn't have any frontpage mention of the Food & Wine Festival at all. Your own website is the cheapest form of advertising you could ever hope to have- it's probably best to use it.

I will be there the last day!!! I have a friend coming that I haven't seen in 13 years who just moved from Texas to Alexandria! Gonna be a fun day!

I propose everyone who posts pics of the food offered do so using the park map as a placemat so we can get an idea of the scale of what we're buying here. I'm heading there this Sunday & my GF is wanting to pretty much try everything, but neither of us have much of any idea how big the portions are.
