So excited!! We have actually been thinking we might not go to BG next year <gasp> but this will tip us heavily toward going. In truth we say this every year and end up there at least 2x. Hurrah for Food and Wine Festival!!

I may renew my annual pass because of this. Even though I didn't get sample all of the foods, I enjoyed the atmosphere and seeing all of the food selections.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

Has anyone else seen the survey monkey survey that Busch put on Facebook? The survey is about which new stand should they add for the Food and Wine Festival. the options are; American Southwest, India, Thailand, The Caribbean, and Vegetarian. I don't see how any of these fit into The Old Country theme, but still. I'm probably going to vote for the Caribbean.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

Caribbean is the only one that makes much sense since there are still European powers there.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

What? American southwest has so much more to offer than burgers. You have a great mix of American, Mexican and Native American cuisine. The southwest is considered to be from Texas to California. And just because Epcot sucks doesn't mean BGW can't do it better! Trust me, American southwest would be awesome, but I will still vote for Caribbean.

Maybe we could suspend the belief that everything must be THE OLDE COUNTRY for this special event; you know, just like HOS & CT. That being said, I do want to have a vanilla BGW park sometime this coming season. I like Cody's choice.

BTW, is there a country/region called "Vegetarian"?
That is sooooo open-ended.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

Two concerns...

A. Did they run out of Europe for this? I don't really have a problem with these choices by themselves, but they have so many other options to pull from, this seems odd. I'm also afraid booth theming will clash with the park since that's the only time we get to experience the natural beauty of the park. I can't imagine just waking around and seeing a Caribbean booth sticking out like like that....

B. Will these be additions or replacements to existing booths?

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

Sorry Cody, but it's pretty clear your trying to grab onto some reasoning behind this that clearly doesn't actually exist.

All of these options are bad and the park should feel bad.

We now have two special events during the park's main season: Food & Wine and whatever the new summer event will be called. Food & Wine held theme quite well last year- the list of things I would change in the name of thematic consistency was quite short. That said, with options like the park has listed, clearly any respect for the park's core theme has now been thrown out the window. You just wait, assuming this direction is followed, Food & Wine will be the next IllumiNights. I saw elements that mirrored IllumiNight's first season last year and it made me slightly weary of Food & Wine's future. This has firmly reinforced that worry.

Foiled again. And I would have gotten away with it to if it wasn't for you pesky kids and your pretzel boy.

Sorry to double post, but Nic is right, how "European" are these choices compared to Trappers?

1. None of these options are any less European than Trappers.

I don't think anyone is a fan of New France being themed to New France. We accept the park putting off a retheme of the hamlet because it's still a nice enough area, but I think the imaginary long-term plan for the park that we all no doubt have in our heads involves bringing that hamlet's theme in line with the rest. Additionally, I know for a 100% fact that under Anheuser-Busch we would have seen it happen- concept work was already done and it was in their 10 year plan.

Anyway, that said, show me the Asian hamlet that justifies the existence of a Thai booth. I can live with the Canada booth without too many gripes because there's a hamlet themed after the country. Does the booth look odd on a list of the other booths at the event? Oh yes. Does it look odd in the park? Not particularly. Imagine a Thai-themed booth stuck in, say, Oktoberfest. Yup. You're all free to recant your support now. :p
