First of all, I meant to say "People don't care about certain aspects about the park", that's my bad. What I mean is this. Nic, you don't care for the shows at the park. Nothing wrong with that.

What would be wrong is of there's a conversation about shows going on and you criticize people for caring about whether a show is good or not.

I certainly don't care one way or another about the soaps at the park, but if there was a conversation going on about them, I wouldn't certainly dismiss their feelings about it because that's not what makes the park important to me.

Don't disagree.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

So how about that food.

Personally, my take on the Food & Wine Festival is that the whole purpose for the event is for guests to try new foods that aren't at the park. It is an opportunity to teach guests about food. Yes, they can go with the strict European theme, but that isn't really what the event is about. It is about opening up, trying new things, and providing a different experience that the park does not offer on a daily basis.

For example, you can always get German food at the park. Yes you could offer different German offerings, but really it would be much more unique to get something completely different. I mean any of those new German offerings could end up stuck in the park as a regular thing, but I bet you won't ever see Asian entrees being served on a daily basis.

My biggest issue with special events is that people fight about whether the event should follow the park's theme or not. Well, a special even to me, has every right to break away from the same theme you can get any other time of the year. One thing you can say is 13: Your Number's Up. How is that in anyway shape or form strictly European? Its not! But it goes with the theme of the special event therefore it works. How is Holiday Hills in anyway shape or form strictly European? Its not! But it goes with the theme of the special event therefore it works. How is a American Southwest booth in anyway shape or form strictly European? Its not! But it goes with the theme of the special event therefore it works.

You can keep fighting and arguing over who is right and who is wrong, who hate what. I personally don't care.

Now I vote Caribbean. It is definitely extremely different than the everyday options you could have. Also it is an entire grouping of food that many people don't fully understand what makes it different. It is a good teaching opportunity plus for those who are dead serious about keeping things European, keep in mind France had a very strong influence over the area but Spain was the first to discover the such new lands therefore they could have a strong influence as well.

How is a horrible pop-driven construction-themed show in anyway shape or form Irish? It's not! How is a fairytale show in an authentic beerhall in any way shape or form German? It's not! See where I'm going here?

On the other hand, Holiday Hills as a whole is intended to be American themed. It's separated from the rest of the area, just like the terror-tories.

If they want to theme the entire Festa Italia hamlet to Thailand or the Caribbean, as dumb as that would be, then the stand would fit. The Caribbean is not European. Thailand is not European. They don't fit! European food in similar countries does, in fact, work.

Please refrain from posting things when there isn't anything to back it up. Some people actually expect more from the park than what we've been accustomed to.

Actually the park did advertise the event as being strictly European. In the ads you heard waiting in lines for the major rides they said specifically "Take a culinary tour of Europe through Busch Gardens' F&WF." That shouts, European to me, plus they could've icked so many more countries out of Europe that in my opinion have a lot better food options than any of those on the survey do. I loved F&WF last year specifically because it extended my culinary options specifically beyond what they offered already. But really, what am I supposed to expect out of the park now? I had a bad feeling as soon as they excluded all signs of Europe with the logo, and now it seems as if they really are starting to move away from their European theme, but it's no surprise anymore because the park obviously does not care anymore, so what am I supposed to do about it?

Holy crap, dude. You have got to be trolling now. Either that or you've read none of the above posts.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

So my Mom, decided to vote for the booth she called me over when she was voting, and asked me what she should pick. I said "Whatever you want," so she votes for the Caribbean.

And then asks me without me telling her anything about how they don't match the theming. "But, how do any of these have to do with Busch Gardens?"

It's not just us(or at least most of us), that noticed the F&WF was centered around Europe, as you can see a lot of other people(who are sensible) got that too. I'm sure a lot of people will notice that these options aren't matching BG theme. Because most people don't see this as a Special Event they see it as a build on to what Culinary offers. So, based on this I would say that F&WF was perceived by most people last year to match the European theme.

Yes! They should make a symbol to put next to each item at each stand that is vegetarian friendly. A Vegetarian booth would be a waste of a new booth considering about half the options out there are vegetarian friendly. If Vegetarian wins, I will be beyond mad, but I'm sure most people did not vote for Vegetarian.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

Sorry for the double post, but do we think that this will be the only booth getting added? Or will there be more, and this was just one that the "people" decided? If this is the only new one, a lot of people aren't going to be very encouraged to come back considering not one of those choices really shouts great food to me, even if it is Caribbean, I really don't think the food will be as great as most of the other countries that are already there.

Oh, by the way the Caribbean booth could always go in Banbury Cross since some parts of the Caribbean were colonized by England near the Victorian era.

Oh wait Banbury Cross is going to be 1960's psychedelic "Peace, love and happiness," and the feeling of being a "rock star," so no The Caribbean booth won't fit anymore.(The Banbury Cross re-theme is affecting the park in more ways than one)

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

I think one of the other booths is going to get the boot for this new booth.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

Hopefully not, I had a favorite dish at all the booths last year!

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

I hope they don't remove any booths too. They should be trying to expand, not replace things that work with stuff that doesn't fit. That being said I would not mind seeing some changes in the offerings, as long as the schnitzelwich stays! I would like to see some new booths join the existing ones. I would particularly like to see Switzerland and then maybe Russia. Another cool one to add would be Turkey. I would place this booth over in festa since Turkey is the gateway to Europe and was on the silk road.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

Ok- I love Thai food- big time. So yeah- I voted for Thailand. There is no real great location for the booth as Thailand was the only southeast Asian nation not to be colonized. The connections to any country at BGW is weak at best. However, Thai food is my favorite cuisine in the whole world... I'll sacrifice logic for some super hot Pad Thai and Tom Yum soup any day.

(Oh and as for me- Gluten free options with both Thai and Indian food make me hope for either one to win).

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

I have absolutely no background knowledge of this at all but maybe the new booth will go somewhere like the Jack Hanna area which isn't really themed to a country? Then it won't clash as badly with the European theme.

At least that is what would make sense to me...
