RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

You both lost me there. Thai food?????

1. I think y'all are inconsistent. Trappers is OK, because it fits in the totally illogical New France Hamlet. I don’t buy it and never have. (See my posts on that hamlet’s thread.)

2. I never said anything about Thai food. I said British Indian food, which isn't entirely out of theme. I'll admit I am shifting centuries a bit, but I believe other Hamlets are closer to the Age of Imperialism anyway. The fact is that a variation on Indian food is essentially British at this point. I hope I don’t have to explain why Indian food is so pervasive in Britain and how it became so integrated into their culinary culture.

I don't think anyone is a fan of New France being themed to New France. We accept the park putting off a retheme of the hamlet because it's still a nice enough area, but I think the imaginary long-term plan for the park that we all no doubt have in our heads involves bringing that hamlet's theme in line with the rest.

1. I love New France. 2. Have doubt, my friend.

Has anyone else seen the survey monkey survey that Busch put on Facebook? The survey is about which new stand should they add for the Food and Wine Festival. the options are; American Southwest, India, Thailand, The Caribbean, and Vegetarian. I don't see how any of these fit into The Old Country theme, but still. I'm probably going to vote for the Caribbean.

I was just using Thai to point out how terrible the options are as far as the booths will look in the park.

As far as New France, I really don't see the issue. There could be a better option, but the theme is New France. That's not the question here, if it's a food fits the theme of the hamlet. When seeing if something fits the theme, you have to look at what the theme is, not what it should be.

The food in Trappers fits the theme of New France better than Indian or Caribbean, which why it works.

Good news: I've come up with a justification for Asian food in the park- it actually makes a lot of sense in Festa Italia as long as the story of Marco Polo's travels is presented in some way (which, thanks to the removal of the hamlet's signage, it no longer is right now). Anyway, if that is done, I could get behind Asian food in Festa during Food & Wine.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

I would not mind if they put a tropical Caribbean booth down by the new Rhine bridge. Then it's out of the way, not in a hamlet and could have food from several colonies. They could draw from the Spanish, French, English and Dutch influences. Any other location and it would look out of place.

This explains everything besides American Southwest and Caribbean, actually. Now if people can remember Festa actually exists.

Let's just keep everything the way it is. We don't need F&WF or HOS or CT because too many people are afraid of change. Good thing we still have Hastings, Pirates 4D, Fiends in the Festhaus, and Le Mans, because the park would be terrible if they changed any of that!

That is just about par for the course on what I expected as a reply.

I bet it was. I am proud to embrace new things. It means I have an open mind and find that change brings new life into things. The difference here is, I am not a purist. I get this with baseball people all of the time,"no replay, no interleague...". Change is progression. In the next 10-15 years the hamlets will all be different, and I will still be there.

Yes, but that is objective. I like to see the change before I make a decision on whether or not it is bad. We live in a progressive society. If you go in thinkning everything will be bad, then it will, I prefer to be more positive and enjoy myself. If I think something sucks, then I find something I enjoy. It's called being optimistic.

Then you should realize that when we don't like an idea, it's not just because it's new. It's because we genuinely think it's a bad idea for the park to do based off our experience.

People don't care about of the park, fine. Don't give other people crap for caring about them.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

I think people can care about the park equally and have differing views about what is good and bad for it. There is no objective Truth here.

First of all, I meant to say "People don't care about certain aspects about the park", that's my bad. What I mean is this. Nic, you don't care for the shows at the park. Nothing wrong with that.

What would be wrong is of there's a conversation about shows going on and you criticize people for caring about whether a show is good or not.

I certainly don't care one way or another about the soaps at the park, but if there was a conversation going on about them, I wouldn't certainly dismiss their feelings about it because that's not what makes the park important to me.

Untrue in most cases as well as this. This line of nonsense is called on Disney forums day and night. You have those who are fine with mediocrity and label it has "progression" or "change." Then you have those who understand the product, know what it has been and what it should be. They also are aware of what you should be getting for you dollar and what the value should be. Those with a lack of comprehension on the product's history over the course of time will never understand that. Instead those will continue to settle for mediocrity and defend it. On Disney boards they are called dust snorters. A term certainly needs coining here.

RE: BGW Food and Wine Festival 2014

I agree with PK and Atlantis, nobody needs to be criticized because they expect more out of the park, and are more focused on the minor details. We've put up with people's viewpoints who don't necessarily care about what the park does. When we care about what the park does, that does not mean you criticize or go trolling on every post saying the opposite of us. We're fine you think that way, but don't criticize us for thinking our way either.(thought I'd contribute my 2 cents)
