KD also has an entire water park to distribute the crowds even further
Right, unlike BGW’s separate waterpark site. Soak City is further divided in half by Racer 75 so it’s always impossible to tell just from a visual standpoint how crowded the waterpark or the dry park really is.

Got a solo / zen ride in the front of FoF tonight around 6:45. Lights are on and even the overhead light that wasn’t on when I rode Saturday.

That midcourse is NOT hitting hard! At all! WOW!

I remember hearing they were working on Flight of Fear’s structure earlier in the year and riding it today I noticed there are a few supports that are nice shiny black and not coated in 30 years of dust and grime. (Not like the whole support but like pieces of supports, like one side of the spot where they’re bolted together is old and crusty and the other end is new and shiny)

There’s one pretty big piece in there too that looks new. I mean I guess they could’ve painted random pieces of supports but I doubt it because they’re more well painted than Pantherian. Plus if it’s just a little fix usually they paint the spot and not the whole piece.

If those are really new support pieces then I think that bodes very well for Flight’s future. I mean they refused to pay ~40-50k to replace one support piece on Anaconda and just demolished it instead, so if they were willing to do anything for Flight I feel like that shows they have plans to keep it around for at least a few more years. If anything the fact it’s using the mcbr less is probably bc it’s more structurally sound.

Kings Dominion has been having to do pretty wild patch jobs on Flight of Fear's structure for ages now. It has long been aging very, very poorly. Combine the structural issues with all of the electrical/launch problems and it is a significant drain. KD has continued the bandaids this long, but there will be a time—likely in the not too distant future—where they pull the plug. I wouldn't onboard too much confidence re: FoF's future just because the plug hasn't been pulled yet, personally.
