There was a point where I would have agreed, but I've come around. When the main gathering area is designed to be the main camping point for the Whey Foundation, so to mix that Whey Foundation with now a military instillation muddles the lore more. How do you explain why they are there, do you change the Whey Foundation to be a cover now, do you take something somewhat grounded and add a mystical element with the temples and aliens/military.

BLSC is the FAR easier refurb IMO. Change the Mini Coopers into Jeeps, and put as many fake trees as possible. Now it becomes an expedition from the base camp into unexplored depths of the jungle mountain side. The MCBR/Scene can be dethemed from the helicopter attack to an ape attack showing that they have gained intelligence and the ability to defend themselves (I know that sounds Planet of the Apes like - I just watched the movie last night) and that's what's happening in the thicket of the jungle. I would do some theme elements in the tunnels to make it really think jungle tree themed and bring back the splash at the end to be crossing a river to get back to base camp.
I've always understood Whey Foundation as more of an archeological organization and FOF is more of a secret government installation. Both operate independent of each other. The US Government discovered an alien saucer in the middle of the jungle and are doing their own research independent of Whey.

Retheming Stunt Coaster requires a lot more money. They need to add new shells to the trains. They need to invest in foliage or a facade to cover the shipping crates and the parking deck, take down the billboards, remove the police cars and replace them with different scenery, add an expensive animatronic that'll probably be broken in 5 or so years, and possibly redo the whole helicopter show scene altogether. In contrast if I were to retheme FOF, I would add barbed wire fencing surrounding the ride, maybe a guard shack at the entrance to the portal, and a few "secret government facility Keep Out" signs along the fencing and maybe on the building itself. Change the area audio to something similar to Area 72 at KI.

TBH I would be very disappointed if that's all they did to FOF to make it fit.

And to @Zachary 's talking points on BLSC - it's in much better operating shape where any investment into it is likely for the long term. FOF could have just that one more issue as a prototype coaster and with SF/CP operating MO they might just look to throw in the towel on continually throwing money at it.

It really just boils down to whether or not KD wants to put that much money and effort into retheming Stunt Coaster.

FOF still runs pretty consistently. Maybe the launch system is a bit power hungry but I can see them replacing parts with Joker's at least. I think the ride fits with the current land just fine. It doesn't really need any changes to it apart from maybe giving the UFO scene a good dusting and adding some lighting effects in the queue. Maybe they can remove the Haunt maze inside and give us a proper queue again

I can see Drop Zone and Windseeker getting the axe long before FOF goes down. Both of those are far less reliable

The fact that they haven't moved even slightly in that direction is a big hint to what they think the future of the ride is. Also these decisions are not being at a park or even region level. If they were we would have had a Volcano refurbishment and Anaconda would have gotten at least a farewell season.

Has anyone happened to talk with any staff to see if/when FoF will be opening? I mean there was never any official closing announcement like Pantherian last year so...
I got solid no comment from multiple people. My guess is that eere ard looking at probably closer to may at the earliest but that is just a guess.

Sooooo... any predictions? It's pretty weird that it's closed with no announcement
fwiw announcements aren't really typical for kd closures. when eiffel, drop, and delirium were closed for the better part of 2 years there was never an announcement for any of them nor was there one last season when Pantherian was down for 2 months post August. A park is never going to admit that a ride broke because it's not good optics, if a closure can't be blamed on an improvement project it will be quietly ignored.

Jessica N (Regional GM), Jennifer S (Park Manager), Brian Rath, and one other guy that I’m not familiar with came out of the FoF building as I was walking by today. Don’t know if it was good or not but at least they were down there looking at something.
I mean, if the regional GM is there then there’s a good chance something might be wrong.

It was fully closed, with a sign in the midway saying it was closed, when I was at the park earlier today. Not a single employee around.

Clarification: No intention to counter what @Haunted River said, if anything confirming the "not just closed for a day" status by the presence of the sign and lack of a rides-department employee at the entrance.
