I honestly would rather have nothing on the TV over Fun TV, it kills the atmosphere of the queue. It'd also be great if they would take down Lockdown, I would love to be able for the full indoor queue to be utilized instead of the switch backs outside. Still, FOF is probably one of the best themed attractions at KD if not the best.
Same, I find the whole FunTV to be quite pointless and rather distracting from the ride itself. Listening to Rihanna before entering a room filled with aliens is quite the way to set the mood. I agree it would be better of with no T.V. At least remove the one and take the other and actually put it far enough outside so that the effects inside make sense. Also agreed about Lockdown, I personally dont find it to be the greatest maze and would find the space better of in its original state.

While Flight of Fear has had sound effects playing in the "spaghetti bowl" for several seasons, Pretzel Kaiser is right, there's definitely something different about the music this year.

I'm almost certain they have a new soundtrack in the main coaster building this year. I really like it. It's dramatic, tense, and futuristic, with pulsing instrumentals and spaceship "whizzing" noises from a synthesizer. The new soundtrack is really intense, like something one would find on a Disney or Universal attraction. It also plays in the exit hallway, which made for a dramatic exit from the coaster.

I tried to Soundhound the music from the exit hallway, but couldn't find anything. If anybody figures out what music is playing in the building this year, by all means, share it! It really is a neat new soundtrack.

I also found the music to be abit louder in the bowl this year than previous years. I'm going for a few hours tmorrow and a few hours on Sunday. I'll tell you if I can figure it out.

More importantly, have they turned the lights down?

Honestly, I think the park chooses if they are or not. 6 of the 9 rides I've had on it this year had lights on.
Should I of added the 3 times the lights were off were all on one day. I think there was maybe some type of lighting issue of some sort though.

FoF wasn't running on Friday, but did open on Saturday this past weekend. They did have some lights on inside the bowl, but it was relatively dark. The main lights on the floor seemed brightest and shining upward. Music inside was pretty cool for the ride. You can tell Paramount spent some money on the theming, but over time it's really missed the upkeep needed. Its like they turned the lighting down to make it not as noticeable, almost to the point of missing the stairs leading up into the ship structure. But onto the ride. Launch is decent. I found this ride to be really rough. I did two rides, both of which left my head aching and the second time, my head snapped to the side toward the end and left me in a little pain. I gave up after that ride. Anyone else find it head ratting?

I've noticed one of the trains is far rougher than the other. I rode back-to-back rides last weekend, each on a different train, and while the first one was fairly smooth, the other one beat the hell out of me. Seems like maintenance needs to take a good look at this coaster.

And I agree with you, Strycker, about the theming. Flight of Fear is beautifully themed, especially in the "saucer hangar" area, but a lot of the props and effects are in rough shape. It's really a shame. Hopefully a few spare dollars come up that allow the park to give Flight of Fear's thematics some much-needed TLC.

Yesterday's ride on FoF was a little better than the previous trial. Not sure if it was the train or not (I think it was #2) The music was much louder inside the ride building this time and I could actually hear it. It was way too quiet last weekend. Still a head snapper in spots of the track though, even if prepared.

Here's a thread bump for a good lim coaster with classic KD theming that has tried it's best to survive debranding. I recall the first time that I rode FoF and thought that in the front row the pacing was strange; as if the trains were too long for the course. That said, I think that this ride has a great mix of hang and positive g's. It might be a clone, but it rides a lot better than JJ at SFA.

Speaking of the coaster's theming, in Kings Island fully restored the special effects in the Saucer Hangar for their clone in 2016, and even added some new effects.

As impressive as it looks, I can't imagine the restoration was that expensive... it's mostly just fancy light effects and the return of the preshow video. So maybe if KD ends up with a little extra money in their maintenance budget, we could end up with something similar. Our queue will never have quite the same scale as KI's as long as we keep the big black box for the Haunt maze, but just a few special effects are all we need to make the Saucer Hangar area look less like an alien-themed warehouse.

They could at least put the old preshow back on the monitors and on the FunTV's...

Also, did anyone hear the radio announcements coming from the "broadcast tower" outside the entrance last season? Usually, there was recorded dialogue between supposed "government employees" playing on a speaker from the radio tower... but 2016 was the first year I never once heard the announcements. Either the Flight of Fear staff just got lazy and never turned it on, or another effect has broken. :(

The only thing I remember is that god awful Will Smith song playing on the FunTV over and over and over again.. 'Hola Mamacita...Go Get Me A Beer-A....'. Anything would be better than that stuff playing over and over in a loop. Even silence.

A big help would be to keep the mirror polished behind the saucer.
As to KI, looks good, we'll see soon about KD's.

Hey guys. I was a member of kdfansite forum. Just found this site.

I'm happy to share this cool experience with you guys. Many of you probably don't remember, but in summer of 2009, Flight of Fear had 0% light inside the spaghetti bowl. Reason for it was the construction of I-305. They had to lay new electrical lines and the rerouting resulted in pitch black rides for FOF. This was a rather cool experience for many park fans. The only other way to experience this is if the ride attendants are slow finishing up on the last people on FOF during summers. One time they didn't get done until 10:25pm or 10:30pm; and the timer for the neon lights were off. So when we rode through there; it was pitch black.

Now on to the theme. The ride could use some more alien theme. It would be cool to see the park use the green haunt lights from Outbreak in the outdoor queue in the evening times. Maybe throw on some fog and let the fans circulate it to give it that alluring appeal. The on-ride experience could use a few alien props as well. Lights need to be very dim inside the indoor queue area. And why not add a suspenseful tune. I like this selection from the Saw III motion picture score. I'll post the link below.
