RE: Fiends (2011 to Present)

It is a bit like erotica vs porn, I guess? Maybe burlesque vs strip?

This.

I think one of my biggest problems with the new bras is that it goes hand-in-hand with the teenage sitcom-level dialog and the dumbed-down bits of the story to create a Fiends that just feels like a cheap, "we have to explain everything to even the most dimwitted of guests"-type show. I don't know- it's clear why the nurses were there to begin with- was adding signalling equipment to the bras so people will notice them even more really necessary? No.

Anyway, if the trend continues, I expect glittery arrows pointing downward on all the nurse's shoulders next year. Clearly guests aren't smart enough to find what they want to look at for themselves.

I umm kind of liked the new costumes...

I'll take this costume over last years with the bad wigs.

Also, I only saw the show sunday afternoon. It looked like the doctor was lip synching a lot. I wish there was more actual singing. The new Simplicity can sing pretty good once she gets going. I only really noticed the Justin Beiber reference and I thought it was kind of funny. Didn't hurt it in my opinion. They could have picked someone else though to be even funnier. "Pluto" could have been gold. I also thought the creature needed some makeup around the eyes and the side of the face.

Just a slight step back from last years production at this point IMO.

I didn't notice, but one of my friends thought Freakenstein was lip-synching on Sunday as well. We were at the 7:30 show.

RE: Fiends (2011 to Present)

I'm not normally nasty toward any performer. So, I'm going to say this was a management descion for some reason. Since he was singing Friday. Not belting it out. But in tune. The track of his own singing sounds fine. Why can't it be live then?

Going to ANY live show and seeing lip-synching is a HUGE negative for me. How furious would one be to pay for "Shrek the Musical" and it's all lip-synched? This just screams KD to me. Even Carowinds has a cast of strong vocalists for their Halloween (albeit Glee) show. SO, who is BGW hiring here if they can't get acting and singing in one performer? If it was the mic problems. Just fix the wireless! Duh!

Also, for those that go there, I have to say, Jeff did such a good job acting the part that his singing was only slightly distracting. After all, he was a mad scientist and not a singer (unlike this guy who thinks he is God's gift to the undead).

BTW, speaking of Shrek, this is the Perry Sook chap referenced earlier? I guess I don't see it.

Note: Pandora may have to change their signature. That excellent line is history in 2013. :(

Wow, didn't even notice that. I must have been distracted...

Good news!

I was talking to someone on the inside about the Doctor's lip syncing that everyone reported seeing on Sunday and this person explained that since last year the park has been doing professional recordings of each character's vocal parts individually so if they get sick or whatever and aren't up to doing their singing parts, the park can use the pre-recorded copies and the performer can lip sync to them. This person theorized that after the intense rehearsals last week and then the opening performances on Friday and Saturday that the Doctor likely just lost his voice and asked to use the pre-recorded track.
