Let me tell y'all about how thoroughly upset I am with Fiends. I absolutely hated it. Honestly, there were only two things I even remotely enjoyed in this show, and it's the doctor and the vampire.
I was beyond thrilled to find out that the 2012 doctor was coming back for Fiends this year. Only to feel sickened that he had to go through the absolute shit dialogue that is 2013 Fiends.
The vampire I actually enjoyed a lot for some reason. I'm not sure why, to be honest. Maybe it's because last year's vamp was a bit too Edward Cullen for me, and the previous year I couldn't get past that trash they called a wig on that man's head.
Igor absolutely terrifies me. Like not haunted house scary, but legit "You need to stay the fuck away from me" scary. I don't understand why he was constantly wide eyed and smiling, and sticking out his tongue. It was terrifying. I felt physically uncomfortable watching him. And I have no idea if they told him to be this creepy guy or that's just his take on Igor, but it is awful.
The Werewolf, I'm not sure if it was an improvement or not. I legitimately cannot tell. While on the one hand, I'm thankful that that awful fur suit is gone. But, gluing fur to your legs, and having fuzzy wrist cuffs, while trying to "be sexy" is far from appealing. I can't stand how they continue to keep "Hungry Like the Wolf" as the 'sexy' song. You cannot be sexy with fake fur glued to your legs. You just can't.
I did like Simplicity better this year, than last year. But I'm sure just about anything was better than last year's Simplicity. So I really can't say if it was an improvement or not. I do see how PK saw how she went back to the ditsy girl, rather than keeping the 'strong woman' trope, after "Eye of the Tiger". Overall though I do like her.
Swampy really didn't have that good of comedic timing. Combined with Igor's general creepiness, it made that whole sequence painful to watch.
why the hell did they put the creation in a wig. More importantly, why did they put him in a generic, trashy, Party City wig.
That's what he wore basically. (It's late and I'm tired and bitter, so my google searching will only get me so far tonight. But, trust me when I saw I've seen that wig many times before.) It's absolutely awful. If they were trying to make him look like Rocky from Rocky Horror, they failed in the most tragic ways possible.
Keeping to the wig theme, while I do like that the wigs are shorter. Thus, hopefully if they take care of them, they should last til the final night and not be a tragedy. HOWEVER, with short wigs comes difficulty with keeping hair in said wig. I have this problem all the time when I wear super short wigs. And it's a distraction to me, seeing their real hair stick out from the back of their wigs. But, naturally this is a nitpick on my part, as I'm the only one who honestly cares about the wigs.
On the subject that is the nurse's outfits. While I'm 100% on board with the pink bra being shown, and would be one of the first to completely defend the nurse outfits, I'm completely okay with the bras being covered, as they are still the sequenced bras. I cant' stand those bras at all. Plus, it's not really all that modest. I foresee more complains about the costumes in MSoRR than this year's costumes. So I'm a fan of them covering up. Besides, with the way they were dancing, I highly,
highly doubt you should be concerned about not seeing their breasts.
So at the end of the day, Fiends is a fucking train wreck. And the only way to save it is to go back to 2012 Fiends. It has completely lost all it's charm as a campy, risque show. It's trashy. It's not funny. It's not cute. And I'm so severely disappointed and disgusted.
