RE: Fiends (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

I also like Fiends in the Globe, but make sure there's a proper warning. The current Some Content May No Be Suitable for Children is pretty ambiguous, considering that that wording is almost identical to the language that accompanies every PG film. I mean, that's Lilo and Stitch territory. Hocus Pocus territory.

Yeah, let's not forget "PG" as in PG films, means "parental guidance." Which is the label that they're slapping on HOS attractions. As parent's we see "parental guidance" all the time.

RE: Fiends (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

problem is i some parents might find the show totally suitable for their kidds. looked on the facebook wall and there are really only 5 or 6 people complaining about. now who knows how many complained at guest relations but truthfully the highest rating the show should get is pg-13.... which is basically the same thing as pg, but just suggesting parents only take teens and older and pg-13 warnings get ignored all the time, even after listing everything the movie will contain, and you know what happens after that? parents complain the movie wasnt suitable for their kids.... the show is not even on the same level as rocky horror, and if that came out in the past 10 years it would get a pg-13.....

This isn't directed at you, just a general thought, but this could be a bit to blame for parents not taking the warnings seriously. Then you think, okay, say PG-13, that implies it's not suited for anyone under 13, problem solved. The last Harry Potter movie was PG-13. How many kids and parents went to see that? I guess a lot of parents don't put blood/gore/death and suggestive dancing/outfits at the same place on the "inappropriate" scale.

I think a move to the Globe could be a really good idea, but then they'd have to find money in the budget for something else to go into the Festhaus. Maybe move Jack is Back, since it's considered "family friendly," and lose the Ireland log-jam?

There's movie Studio Ghibli (Little Nemo, My Neighbor Totoro) called Princess Mononoke that was released in theaters here by Disney that had a PG-13 rating. While no sexual content, it did contain a large amount of blood and violence. Parents were really upset when they took their kids to a PG-13 movie which they thought was okay simply because of the company, I think that's what going on here. Despite all the warnings, parents assume it's safe because of the park and it's the park's fault when they try something new.

I've noticed that in order for parents to get the idea that something might not be suitable for kids, you have to put an "R" rating on it, which is severely overreacting on the current Fiends content. Moving to Globe is a good idea, but is it equipped for live shows?

If you put Jack is Back in there, I think listening to Katy Perry or Black Eyed Peas while eating is far more offencive than the content in Fiends. The point being "inappropriate" is a relative term depending on the person.

Jack is Back being moved to Das Festhaus actually sounds like a really great idea.

On a completely unrelated note, can we get the movies put back into Italy? They were great at setting a creepy atmosphere.

RE: Fiends (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

OK, so next year: Fiends in the Globe, Jack is Back in Festhaus, Movies in Italy, and Monster Stomp needs to be revamped again. Only problem is Jack's origins of ireland. GP wouldn't care though.

If the Globe can handle ice skating, it should be able to handle a live stage show.

RE: Fiends (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

i actually think this year or the next year needs to be msr`s farewell. its already run 3 seasons "revamped" and the show is getting stale. keep elements people love, and turn it into a new show. actually i think it`d be great if they combined fiends and msr into a new show. also can we get some "new" songs in the show, and have people actually sing them? a live band would be great too. I`d be happy if they put a show in the globe. even if they bought bak haunted light house just for Hos it`d be great. A new show in fethaus i wouldnt mind, and i know people hate the clusterf@%* jack is back creates in ireland... but i think it should stay there. also on a side note i wouldnt be opposed to a house in the abbeystone or the globe. as long as there is a show in the one not housiing a maze. oh and whille we are talking about next year bitten needs to die and they need to put a new spin on the catacombs. i know bitten is popullar, but it got old last year and the lack of gore and blood in a vampire house just makes them kinda lame

RE: Fiends (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

Jack going in Festhaus makes great sense except that it is an *Irish* themed show. However, I don't know that anybody is really all that concerned with the countries at HoS (What is Irish about MSR or German about Fiends?). Besides, Jack is as much a HoS tradition as an Irish one, and you could easily say something to the effect of "This Halloween, Jack Takes Over a Whole New Country!" and pass it off.

Jack is the correct show for Festhaus. Split the more adult shows into the other available theaters, and put appropriate warnings on the doors, maps, and signs.

Also, absolutely agree that MSR needs to et re-R'd.

No, just something more descriptive that "not suitable for children."

Which "children?" A 1 year old? 3? 6? 10? 12? That couldn't be more broad.

Does anyone have a problem with "Elements of this show are may not be appropriate for children under 13." Or parental guidance strongly suggested for children under 13."? Generally, people who wouldn't let their kids see a PG-13 movie, wouldn't let their kids see a show with that label. Seems like that would solve a lot of problems to me.

BTW, this would be a much better warning for all the scare zones and houses as well.

I have more to post tomorrow, but I will say that there was a noticiable difference between how raunchy it was at the 1:00 show and the 9:00 show.

RE: Fiends (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

Sorry for the double post, but I wasn't able to upload this pic last night. It's the new warning for the Fiends show and I think it does a great job indicating that parents should not bring young children.

Some of us got to watch the show from the Festhaus balcony last night :) And met the cast afterward. Pretty cool experience.

I'm jealous! I've always wanted to get up on that balcony... if for no other reason than to photograph the stained glass.

RE: Fiends (Howl-O-Scream 2011)

I caught the 4:30 show on Sunday. This was a great performance. Good music, talented singing, costumed performers and a theme. The dialog was a bit muddied, but the song segments were clear. The nurses were sexy, sensual and flirty, just what I like. There was no overtly sexual acts (mock masturbation, humping or grinding) as previously posted. The closest came during the Time Warp. It was a good show, the fun kind I expect.
