perhaps it shouldn't have gone into the only non-upcharge indoor dining & show venue, where families generally go to take refuge from the rain, the heat, etc...

Yeah, but they posted A SIGN at the front about "parental guidance" so you should totally expect to see a guy simulating masturbation and pointing at your family while you're eating dinner. If you have a problem with that then you are like totally stupid dude.

Then that's when you go to the front and suggest changing the sign to sexually explicit. Profit.

We did.

BTW, there was NO sign out front on Friday when we saw the show. When got there yesterday (luckily no line at GR) we suggested that they put one up and to make it more descriptive than just "PG suggested." They told us they had a ton of complaints and added a sign out front Sat morning.

Next suggestion: an announcement "Fiends begins in X minutes. Some elements of this show are not appropriate for children."

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

Something needs to change. I saw it again in the back yesterday with a friend of mine and his female friend (about 16 or 17 years old). At the beginning when Dr. Frankenstein and Igor circle the stage looking at the people, Igor pointed right at my friend's friend and said "O, she's a hot one". At the time I thought that was a bit odd to be saying to a teenage girl, but I didn't think anymore of it at the time. Then, during the guest interactivity part of the show, two of the nurses came over and tried to get her to dance. They were really nice about it and eventually convinced her. She was a bit embarrassed at first but soon got over it. Then Igor walked up. He got up really close to her and you could see that she clearly didn't want anything to do with him. He then (purposefully) bumped his rear into hers two or three times, and poked her a few times on the shoulder, arm, and neck. The whole time she kept trying to back away from him and her face clearly said "Just get away." She returned to the table right after it happened and you could tell that she wasn't very happy about it. Just to be clear, she doesn't even look her age- she probably looks more like 15, especially because of how short she is. Am I the only one who thinks this is completely uncalled for and more than a bit over the line? I think if Igor was just cut from the show entirely, it would fix most of the problems. What's even his purpose?

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

Didn't she see the SIGN!? Is she illiterate, ignorant, or both? :p

But, yeah, there's just something pretty pervy and uncomfortable about watching a guy come on to teenage girls. Call me crazy.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

I thought he was hilarious-- I was actually watching him most of the time with a glance now and then to see if someone was singing.

ETA: and just so people don't think I'm saying that to be argumentative- there's a post in the HOS thread saying how I thought the mad doctor/Igor were excellent.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

Took a guys hat, acted generally like a buffoon- I know there were more things, of course I didn't think I'd be quizzed later haha.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

Like I said in the other HoS thread: reasonable expectations are reasonable. Signs don't erase them. If they have signs that say "some content may not be suitable for children" and then proceed to put on an Amsterdam Red-Light show, people will RIGHTFULLY complain, because it crosses the line. All those signs do is say to the guest "this is going to be a LITTLE more adult than what we're used to," it doesn't totally erase the long-standing customer relationship the community has had with Busch Gardens an the content expectations that brings with it.

The wolf/girl part in the show I saw yesterday was great. i was sitting close by and I thought it was funny that they were bringing a girl on stage, and she looked convincingly shy until they gave her a microphone. They must be getting better at that part.

I didn't have a problem with it, but a little more fuel for the fire:

Doctor: Turn me on.
Igor: Ladies....
haha

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

There is overwhelming demand for a more adult hos. You have to start somewhere. Busch has done an excellent job at informing people its gonna be pretty wild this year, and to leave the kids at home. simply ignoring that fact due to past hos content is ridiculous. only thing busch can do is be more stern when it comes to warning adults about the content. NOW, I *do* agree if you are gonna have a show like fiends, it best not be in a venue like festhaus. i also agree that there should be a watered down version durinng the day and stronger warnings on the signs.. people arent getting it. but while you are providing conntent like that during the day they have somewhat of a justificationn to be angry cause its only sposed to be that way at night according to all the signage.

Yay! We finally see eye-to-eye on something!

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

^First, I dispute the claim that there has been an "overwhelming" demand for a more adult HoS. I think there are some vocal advocates of this, sure, but I think that previous years' attendance indicates that a lot of people are happy with their PG-13 HoS. I also think that if you opened an adults-only HoS, you'd be out of business before the season was over.

Second, I'm going to say that nothing, no signs, no warnings, NOTHING excuses the overly-sexual content in a show that is open to minors. Nothing. If your read the previous responses, there's a good chance a minor was criminally sexually assaulted in this show. Not acceptable. At all. If what happened to that girl happened to my daughter, I'd be in jail. No question.

As much as some people seem to want it to be, Busch Gardens is not an 18+ nightclub. It's an amusement park. Historically, amusement parks are for families. There are 60 years of general precedent reenforcing this perception, and 40 years of specific precedent in the case of BGW. Halloween doesn't change that. HoS doesn't change that. Signs that say *some* content *might* not be appropriate for *some* children don't change that.

If you let kids in the show, you absolutely CAN NOT have overly sexualized, inappropriate content. That's it.

Put the show somewhere else, make it 18+ (not to open this can of worms :) ) and have at it. Otherwise, knock it off.

I was thinking the exact same thing; the most prevalent complaints were usually the lack/quality of scare actors and props...

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

On the train right now, there was a warning about show content. Dispite the argument whether warnings are effective or not, they're really pushing them.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

The more I think about it, the more I believe Castle O'Sullivan would be perfect for this... they can easily monitor what ages go through the doors, and the shot girls can go from table to table in there...
