Ooops, sorry. Just subscribed.

Ok, I watched the video. Don't want to be a Debbie Downer here, but I thought the show was pretty bad. I mean, it's really is just girls in skimpy outfits generically dancing to pre-recorded music. There's nothing particularly talented being showcased here. These girls look like you could have snagged them out of any club somewhere. There's no live music (at least that I could see). I just didn't get it. It looked like an OK 3 minute routine that they turned into 20 minutes. The set did look really cool though.

I never thought I say this: Bring back Frankenrock! :p

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

"most of the music?" ;) A band would have been much better. Like I said, at the end of the day, the show was about 80% just watching these chicks dance around. Not that I have a problem with that generally, but I'd like a little more effort from a theme park show.

BTW, anybody who compares this to a strip club, has never been to a strip club. If this was a "strip club" I'd want my cover charge back.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

I thought the show was pretty good. Only complaint is it seemed like alot of the male actors were kinda just wandering around half the time. It needs to flow a little better.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

One could hope that as the show progresses, it will become smoother. During the show, the part where the werewolf that pulls an audience member who turns out to be a singer. The wolf couldn't find her and she had to run up to him.

A band would be awesome, but most of the lyrics were sung.

Yeah, that whole thing was really awkward. Even if it went smoothly, the concept still seemed odd.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

I've seen it done well in the past when the wolf takes an actress and she actually screams and struggles. The actress was sitting in the main aisle though where everybody could see her being taken.

I know Busch is all about 'going green,' but damn, can we say recycled?

I was really hoping after going missing for many years, that they would revamp (har, har) Fiends with some new music and new choreography. It's like they showed this cast videos of the old Fiends and said, 'here, learn this and then show up Friday the 23rd.'

Disappointed.

For your consideration-here is Fiends filmed in 1999/2000.

Eleven years ago. I have graduated high school, gotten married and popped out two humans and they still can't throw in a new dance move. They even took out the Thriller sheet thing, which I thought was creative.

Forget Frankenrock, Come On Eileen! This guy. THIS guy was awesome.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

Finally delurking after a year... /nervous

I said this on the Youtube video its self in a more condensed version, but I figured I'd explain myself more here.

I'll have to go in person to see the show to truly make a judgement on this show. I don't know if it was just the view the show was recorded from or it was just that bad. I was personally excited to see this shows return. But, the flow in the show... Was terrible. I understand that its a 20 minute show, but it seem to just throw the audience from one song to another with out any real means as to why. The songs cut off at seemingly random points, and just move on to the next one. It just didn't make too much sense to me.

Also, some of the characters that they have seemed to do nothing. I understand that Igor is just supposed to be the Doctor's assistant, but some more interaction between them (Or Igor and the nurses if you want to go Tampa's route) would of been nice. And was it just me or did they just have a bunch of nurses and Batgirl/Vampire dancers, and only the Vampire, Mummy and Werewolf as male entertainers? [excluding the creature, Doctor and Igor, who did nothing in the show except for the very beginning and the ending.] I remember in previous they had more characters in the show. They didn't do much, but they did provide more of a feel of a type of party/social gathering of some sort.

On the topic of costumes, I wouldn't say this is a problem, but more of something that just didn't fit right to me, was the batgirl/vampire outfits. Maybe it was because I was expecting their old outfits of a leotard and stockings or something similar, that it was rather unusual for them to be wearing pants. [especially when you compare them to the nurse's outfits.]

All in all, I'll have to see the show for myself to really judge if i enjoy the show or not. But as of right now, I feel a bit let down on this one.

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

I like the show, and I definitely like it more than Frankenrock. I think it might suffer a bit because the nurses hold everyone's attention, but there is a lot of stuff going on elsewhere. The singers they have are good and really own their roles, and the crowd interaction is just enough to be noticed without being obnoxious. They do need to work on the werewolf/girl in the crowd part. I saw the show where he couldn't find her, and that was awful. She does need to put up more of a fight and make it a little more "believable."

RE: Fiends (2011 Howl-O-Scream)

Okay, I haven't seen a live performance of this yet... but from everything I've seen and read, my only issue is this: perhaps it shouldn't have gone into the only non-upcharge indoor dining & show venue, where families generally go to take refuge from the rain, the heat, etc... Maybe next year the more adult show can go into a different venue: Abbeystone, O'Sullivan, the Globe...

Saw the show again yesterday. Still not a fan. I will say, at one point the "Igor" performer was right in front of us and, I won't be graphic, but let's just say he very explicitly simulated something using one of the dismembered hands and was pointing at a group of mid-teenish girls sitting behind us. They all giggled and took it well. But I can tell you, if he had done that to my 14-15 year old daughter, I would have had a MAJOR problem with that. IMO, there are some elements of that show that are just inappropriate for Busch Gardens, period. Like Swiftman said earlier, it's not so much the costumes, it's what they're doing in them at certain points that's the problem.

That's irrelevant. People are illiterate or ignorant to ignore warnings and go in.
