I don't want to make this an internet penis contest. But there are plenty of areas the park is losing money, we all know that. But shutting down rides to make up for it is kind of a problem.

The real question is just how much money the park is now saving by not operating EitA, and how much it helps with their budget limitations. Is EitA going to be the only thing cut?, or are there going to be even more cuts around the park in order to save a budget that the park likely can't survive on?

Obviously shutting down a ride will help. I'm sure it wasn't a rash decision by any means. But as Zachary has said, there have been cuts in other areas that also raise concern. This isn't a one and done deal.

I can't believe they'd just close a ride like this. Is there no way to scale a bunch of little things back? Rent out shop space to independent vendors? Microbreweries in the restaurants?

I don't know. It's crazy to think that they just have to shut down a ride in the middle of the summer because of money troubles.

I just wanted to see actually how bad the ride was. I saw members have a love/hate relationship with the attraction. Well, maybe, hopefully, something else will go in there, and try upgrade. Something 3D. I mean closing a ride doesn't mainly mean the park's in trouble. Maybe they "heard" how much all the members didn't like it, and are going to go with some ideas that's been thrown around. It's been said that they have taken ideas from here. I'm thinking positive here!!

When Zach says it is because there is no money. It's because there is no money. The ride has been in operation for 3 years now and they just so suddenly decide to close it for not being liked without a replacement mid-season. I doubt it, HIGHLY doubt it.

SOOOOOOO, Zach is always right? Does Zach a special relationship we don't know about? Time to put on our journalism hats and find out about Zach's personal endeavors to get information at the park! DATELINE: How the Hell does Zach get his info?

Cutting rides because of budget is generally cause for concern.

When it's a ride that NO ONE rides, has a horrible reputation, and has been nothing but a massive embarrassment to the park since it opened...?

So then why haven't they cut Mach Tower yet?

Oh come on. If they have given you a week's notice you'd post about how you would never ride it anyways abd good riddance. Based on everything you guys have said here like, "worst ride ever...haven't ridden it in years...it should be closed immediately" you don't really get to be sad you didn't get notice. Sorry for calling y'all out, but you're insatiable haha

I also find it really hard to believe that this is because of budget cuts. There's no way operating that ride put a major dent in their wallet. Whatever the"source" is it sounds like speculation more than anything else and I don't buy it. Screw these"sources" and mysterious all-knowingness.

Because the damn thing doesn't work?

They are trying to run it until the tower falls over so that they can collect the insurance money to help put money in the bank. Unlike EITA where they might have to pay the hospital for neck injuries.

This hasn't been the first cut, just the first of this proportion. Nor will it be the last cut. HOS website looks exactly like last years (not saying this couldn't change). Though they already have other supported site reporting on it, so they seem to want to get word out.

We can all agree that not being able to justify maintenance and operating costs for a very unpopular ride is different than the park being in financial trouble right? ((eye roll))

Saying they are in financial trouble might be a tough word to say, but events are being cut back and staying stagnate, new additions are being cut, other rides are being cut back, etc etc. So take that for what you will. All starting on 4th of July week. Which we all know is a huge week for the park.

You mean the new owner of the park is adjusting its focus after Busch created a million new events that weren't as well received as they probably hoped? Say it ain't so!

Listen, I'm being super sassy because you all called for the closure of EITA and bashed illuminights. Now that they're receiving some "refocusing" it's because the park is in financial difficulty? And dude....it's July 1st. Don't expect a new site for Hollowscream.

Closing for replacement does not equal closing for saving costs.
