So because it is themed to a dig then they cannot put other items found in pompeii that is found in digs? LOL.

You're right. They should put objects more related to daily life in Pompeii. Then they could close the area to anyone under 18. You think the nurses in Fiends are bad? Do some research on Pompeii. Sure, the sundial at the Temple of Apollo survived. It looks NOTHING like the monstrosity at Busch. But Pompeii known for it's timekeeping? I think not. There's a reason that early archeological digs reburied many of the artifacts. They were prudes. What Busch put there has absolutely nothing to do with Pompeii. My guess is someone saw the thng at a garden shop, and figured it would be easy to move for Christmastown. Maybe we can make the giant Santa themed more like something from Pompeii too! That would be popular with the kids.

Do a bit more research, yours is not that accurate. Your quick Google search has obviously failed.

Like a real dig site, that area is now complete...

Vitruvius (a Roman Engineer) considered sundials important enough that he listed the notable sundials in the Roman empire in ~ 25 B.C., less than 100 years before Vesuvius destroyed Pompeii!

As far as declining, I will leave my judgement out until we see what happens with a lot of the rumors over the next few years. It's strange, we see something decline here or there, but then again, a heavily themed dark ride (though maintenance could be better), a coaster that's highlight is the theme, a highly produced show (even if the target is off, the effort was there), rumors of a 2nd themed dark ride, rumors of an entire country, rumors of eagle's nest area being used for animals, etc. And to be honest, it's not like they paved the area over (like Kings Dominion) and left it barren. It's still beautiful scenery even if it isn't as good for the story of that one ride.

I'm not so sure the park isn't just experiencing some growing pains as it figures out how to be more than it used to be. Sure, there will be missteps, but I'm not writing off BGW yet, particularly when there are some pleasing developments as well. However, don't take this as me trying to silence anyone talking about these issues, just a few more pennies.

I've always viewed your points as "death, by a thousand cuts" in my head. (Regardless whether I agree or disagree with anything specifically, just how I approach your viewpoint.)

?

I hope you mean that you've always taken what I've said as describing the slow decline by baby steps....of course, I can also read that as you saying "reading your posts is like getting murdered a little bit at a time," which is a little harder to take.

LOL, ah...no. The other thing.

What I'm saying is that whenever I (or usually others;) ) find one of your criticisms to seem very petty or nitpicky, I just try to ground my reaction to it on the fact that I believe your philosophy is that the park is in jeopardy of dying a "death of a thousand cuts," or that every little piece is contributing to a total picture of the park that you believe is changing for the worse.

I may or may not agree with a specific point, but I think I understand and respect your overall viewpoint and it helps me put it in perspective.

Oh, and back on topic, I can confirm what Swiftman said about the new statues in the sundial area. Perhaps the theming is not complete there yet and we were jumping the gun a bit with our reactions. Wait...nah, we'd never do that. :p

For a bit of interesting info, there is some Roman Rapid like states and such hidden nearby Pompeii out of sight. They all have a pinkish tag saying boneyard, perhaps to clear out the boneyard for other things they are moving old things to new places???

I was perfectly dry when the boat splashed down.

Here is me right after getting water blasted by a 6 year old.

Help to answer your question?

The water cannons have pretty much killed the ride for me. However, I cold sit there and squirt people all day. Cheap too ;)

I have sat there and squirted people... and recieved dirty looks and cursing from people on their way to the dryer.:). It's still fun and I still do it though... guess i'm just an evil SOB ( or plain ol SOB) :p.
