Pompeii just got renovated this past year/in progress and Roman Rapids is soon, I think. Of course, these projects are both happening while Intamin is working with the park for Pantheon and 2021.

How long do you guys think pompeii has left? I'm thinking 3-5 years.
Depends on how badly it burns next time it catches fire. In all seriousness they just bought new but and did work on it so I would say another 5 to maybe 10 years

Not sure. The land it sits on could house a compact coaster, maybe a raptor, but not much else. My guess is that it will be removed by the end of the 2022 season.

I keep hearing people say that but I am not sure how true that is given the proximity to Nessie and the pipeline. Also I am not sure that I would really want them to try.

They’ll probably take it out right after lochness monster in 2021

They just repainted her and installed new trains she is going to be around for a while.

I believe there's ample room. But I agree. Why? With Pantheon and the Whatever Coaster coming the next two years, I think BGW should redirect their focus to the "dark rides" and other "family-ish" attractions. For this attraction, perhaps update the effects and presentation. And, while not related to this thread, do something with DarKastle and totally revamp that Roman themed concrete ditch.

There is a lot more land and space there then you are thinking.

The blue circled area is the area they could build a ride in that doesn't cross the pipeline. Nessie is being the Pompeii building but the park has shown that they will build close to get in the past. Just look at Griffon and Apollo, they are both nearly built on top of her.

The green circle is space the park could use if they opted to cross the pipeline with the ride. In my opinion this overall area is the parks last spot for a large size coaster after 2021 without expanding the park across the water from Germany and Festa.

Like I mentioned above the idea had built other coasters right next to Nessie in the past and even built Pompeii right next to her. As far as the pipeline goes the park needs to allow planes to see the ground level. The park is permitted to build roads and pathways over the pipeline and Nessie crosses the pipeline. It might take a little bit more approval work but the is can certainly build a coaster than traverses the pipeline. The only things they can't really build on it are buildings because they block site of the ground.

I’m lost, why are we advocating replacing a heavily themed water ride with another coaster? Was BGW bought by Six Flags? They have already lost a major dark ride.
No but I am sure with the failed purchase of CF this year that the internet will be full of rumors of SF buying Sea next year so we might as well get ahead of the game.

I totally agree on restoring the facade and updating the effects - however, the fire on the ceiling effect should stay.

My biggest concern about them updating/extending the ride is how they might change the existing soundtrack. EFP has one of my favorite ride soundtracks, and I would want them to keep it in full while adding a compatible new score to the extended portions.

That's assuming they'd have a way to extend it and not just refurb the existing rooms.

I could see Mack Rides coming in and turning EFP into a Journey To Atlantis type of ride. That would be a new coaster that is different from the rest of BGW's lineup.
