RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

I suffered through this show twice yesterday and as I was watching I was noticing some actors talking that didn't have microphones.

It was pretty clear that there were a few characters lip syncing and at times they were "talking" but the actors weren't even moving their mouth.

Having watched it yesterday I'm more than happy to jump on the "It was awful" bandwagon. Within 5 minutes of the show starting I had already turned to Nora and said "How... how could they make it worse?!"

I say that like I'm surprised but, well, all things considered, I probably shouldn't be.

I hadn't seen it yet this year. Really that simple. (Evan watched it a second time because he had seen it before I got there and then we all went back so I and a few others could get a viewing in. Plus the weather was awful.)

Took in my first Entwined of 2014 this past Saturday.

This has always been one of my favorite shows, second to Night Beats.  I had mixed feeling on the show this year, so here goes..

I miss the Narrator and Luna from last year.  I think this year's Luna definitely has the chops and sings just fine, but her acting skills aren't nearly as good as last years Luna.  Hopefully she'll grow into it a bit more in the upcoming weeks.  The Narrator didn't really stand out to me.

They seemed to take a lot of the spot light off Luna with all the extra bits they added.  Seems like they added too much and you kind of lose the story a bit during the way.

The acrobat (Jack) this year can't hold a candle to last year.  Last year was amazing compared to this guy who just swings around in a couple circles.  Last year it was an intrical part of the show and this year it's nothing.

The stilts are gone... The Narrator is taking over Bratwurst in a Pot....  UHG.

It's nowhere near as good as last year (YET)

Malsdad, your review and mine are almost identical! I felt the exact same way. For the Giant, that guy can REALLY sing, but he doesn't have a deep giant voice during the talking parts, so it comes off a little strange and I do miss the stilts. I was also wondering why Rapunzel has red hair. I still like the show and so does my daughter, I think the actors will grow into the parts as time moves one.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

I think it's a good thing that Zachary takes the time to re-watch the shows to make sure nothing has changed. Also, to not fall victim to making a judgment without having actually seen what's being discussed.

Sad to read from several people that the show hasn't improved. That should be the goal every season that a show returns.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

For those who didn't take the hint and watch the end of my video, there is a new "random/lucky" guest chosen from the crowd for a special photo op and surprise gift. It is strictly for girls at the moment. Was told they are trying this out. :)

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

That's awesome! We saw them do that on Saturday, but just assumed it was someone's birthday or something. My daughter got to take the keys up one time at Celtic Fyre and she still talks about it to this day....that kind of stuff is really special for kids.

I have to ask.  Why do y'all watch a show that you know you dislike so intensely?  I'm serious.  It seems a bit masochistic to me.

Sometimes you just can't believe it. It's like "smell this" or "taste this" and you do it more than once anyway. Then there is the whole thing for those of us with little princesses of our own; anything for my baby (not like she has me wrapped around her finger or anything ;) ).

It's no secret that this is not my favorite show, but I do love DANCING QUEEN!!

Well that's a loaded question. For me, it's the only way my wife will let me sit in the Festhaus and drink beer all day. The show grows on you the longer you sit there (and the more you drink) :)

Because the Festhaus is the park's largest and signature restaurant, it's the only fully indoor one, and it has what is in my opinion the greatest and most superior food choices. The Entwined show times are set so that you're sort of forced to watch it during lunchtime. I'm sure you can relate to being forced to watch a show. ;)

I want to be clear. I wasn't directing that question at anyone who goes to the show with kids or to eat or whatever. I was really responding to Evan's double-header and Zach's self-flagellatory experience.

What you all have been waiting for; be nice.  There's something very special in the last minute or so.  This is especially for you BGW Family!!

So, finally brought myself to watch this. How painful. The only 2 reasons we EVER watched this are gone (sorry Kitty). They have moved on to a better place, unlike this show. The only reason I'd watch this again is for those couple of minutes at the end! Thank goodness for fast forward and skipping. Lack of audience participation compared to that of the past is one of our pet peeves.

I'm not usually harsh on cast (not really their fault here), but I'd expect this from KD and not BGW. Is this the NY talent? Perhaps it's opener jitters and they might improve into the season? SO not impressed at this point. I'd have agree with Zachary, worse it is.

BTW, if the lip synch parts you noticed are the 3 guy acrobats they have always been prerecorded parts.

Gonna get some hate for saying this, but most of the performers I saw at Kings Dominion last year were more familiar with their roles and more talented as a whole than what I just saw. The performers at KD are actually very talented, which is why we saw some of them performing at BGW for Christmas Town. Just saying, it's not a good thing when KD's shows are better received than BGW's. I know you're familiar with KD and I'm not directing this toward you, BGW Family (;)), but I have seen a bit of general misconception on the BGW boards of KD's shows and just wanted to point out that the supposedly "inferior" park doesn't fall back on lip-syncing, gaudy in-your-face shows, and recorded soundtracks. Keep that in find, folks!

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good & Grimm (2012 to Present)

I don't know maybe this is a stupid question, but are Entwined and TIO sharing casts now? It looks as if the narrator/prince/whatever he is, looks very similar to the lead of TIO. IDK, that's just what I got out of CK's video, but I didn't see anyone else who looked like they were in TIO in that video(maybe one), then again you barely see anyone, they're always covered up in costumes.
