RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

Ok, now you're just being willfully silly, Flamanar. Losing _This is Oktoberfest_ tops losing the BIG BAD WOLF???!!!! No way! [shakes head]. You're just trying to get attention now. :p:p

(Of course I'm just kidding! Flamanar would have to be insane to say that, not merely silly ;))

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

I dont like this show, but if this is what it takes to get the nurses back, I will have to deal with it being there. The problem is, if the nurses do come back, there will be even more complaining because parents will think that the Festhaus is a kids show venue like it is in the summer.

Oh and for the record fairy tales are not a bad thing
The park can do plenty of things to make a show about fairy tales appeal to everyone. We've all grown up and had experiences with them, whether it's the Disney-fied version or the original darker stories. Busch can make them work in the Festhaus, it just doesn't work as well as it should.

Oh I love fairy tales, I was raised on them more than on books like Dr. Seuss. I've said for years that the old Dwarf Village statuary from Tampa belongs somewhere in Williamsburg (like on the banks of the Rhine for viewing on the cruise boats, or in landscaping along the train tracks).

This fairy tale show, as stated, could be better - be it the venue, the music, the costumes, or (my POV) all of those things.

*For those not familiar, these are some of the Dwarf Village figures formerly displayed in Tampa:

Those figures and props would definitely be a welcome change to enhance the boat rides and/or train rides, that's for sure. I've never seen those figures till now.

I was just looking at our initial reactions to Mix It Up from when that was new, and this one pretty much summed up most of the reactions:

The show sucks. Hard. I can see how they tried to model it after Blast! But They pretty much did the same thing to BLAST! That they did to jack's image and his show.... It's a kid's show. With one or two "serious" numbers thrown in that fail hard. They play the kit kat song for crying out loud, what does that have to do with an Italy? If I still marched and got casted into that show I would've quit regardless of what they were paying me.

Dont get me wrong.. It's a good kid's show. But It's not what I expect from BG. A good show can awe and thrill and excite and entertain all age groups.

Anyone see a programming trend? I fear this is just the beginning...

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

I wish I saw that earlier so I could say something, but I'll insult youhow in the chat. :p

I hardly think Mix it Up is a kids show. There's some slapstick and some songs which are obviously kiddy, but the overall tone of the show was all ages.

I think people need to make a distinction between family friendly and kiddy, but I agree that Entwined falls under kiddy.

Indeed; about eleven months ago. I think a lot of it applies here as well; a trend, as it were...

I think what I find jarring is that, after things like Starlight Orchestra which was family-friendly but adult-focused (not to be confused with adult oriented - that's Fiends), it feels kiddy by contrast... I even likened the soup-making bit to the Wiggles.

Busch never hesitated to direct a considerable percentage of their entertainment at the adults, but it was never inappropriate for the younger set. It's like when I was small, and my parents watched 60 Minutes - it clearly wasn't aimed at my age group, but it was also okay to watch with kids in the room...

I agree that maybe the balance has shifted, but I don't think it's in a way where every show is Sesame Street. Mix, while not adult focused, doesn't really have a focus on an age group. That being said, this is Oktobefest didn't have a focus on an age group either.

I'm interested to see what this rumored show in the Globe next year, I think that if there is trend for regular shows in becoming kiddy or not.

I just hope it doesn't get gutted to make it happen...

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

The Globe needs to be gutted, all the years of water from the 4D shows have made the place very musty.

A musty smell can generally be eliminated through fresh paint and replacing soft surfaces (carpet, draperies, etc); if there is actual mold growth, people shouldn't be in there at all right now. Nevertheless, I fear its period interior will be next on the chopping block to make way for tinsel and LED screens...

Anyway, back to Entwined...

Imagine if Mix it Up was replacing a show that people really liked. I bet the firestorm would have been about the same as what we're seeing now with Entwined.

In my opinion, both Mix it Up and Entwined are pretty awful shows- especially by Busch standards.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

What is their standards? I believe try to be on the edge of the modern world at the moment.

Interesting article, but most of the largest paragraphs in that article were pilfered...word-for-word...from Busch Gardens own website. Plagiarism is alive and well!

As far as the Globe: I'd hate to see the Globe gutted. I only have vague memories of it, since I haven't watched a show inside of it in years.

I would have to say by now that it might need to be gutted (although I say that with a lump in my throat). All that moisture is not good for fabrics and woods. I don't know how/if they treat that place to dry it out on a regular basis...but if they don't, there's probably mold. Only way to be sure it's all gone is to gut it. Otherwise, you have people complaining all over the place about breathing problems, then lawsuits, etc. etc. Shame to see it happen. And sad as well, if it does happen.

I have no doubt the park supplied them with a press release for that verbiage - you see that with most new additions when promoted.

I have no idea what that is supposed to mean. Elaborate, por favor.

RE: Entwined: Tales of Good and Grimm (2012)

That article Shafor posted is very upsetting to me. If Red's hood is changed in the show, it will be getting rid of part of the only redeeming things about it.

I noticed in another TV appearance (last week, I think) she was wearing a more... "traditional" cloak like that; I wonder if they gave the isopod cape the axe altogether, or if they're just not putting it on TV so as not to scare people off.

At first I was surprised they weren't performing a musical number in these appearances, but it may be a) If they went to the people who hold the rights to each song, the contracts may say that broadcast is prohibited... or b) they never technically got the rights and don't want to push their luck.
