Has anyoneelse noticed thatthe trees around the base of the tower look sickly to in some cases even dead? I was there today a a fairly decent sized branch came off of one of them with only light wind which made me notice that a lot of them were bare to nearly bare of leaves.

Yes! It looks horrible. They died sometime this spring. If you look for that same type of tree throughout the park (there are some by Dominator and some more by Ricochet), you'll notice they're all dead. I assume some disease got to them. :(

I really think those trees need to be removed ASAP. Not only do they look bad, but all it takes is a strong gust of wind to seriously injure or even kill someone.

Apparently not even that strong of a gust there was at most moderatewinds more like light today and one big enough createa large enoughnoise that everyone that I saw in the area dumped and reacted to it came down.

Actually, those trees have been dead since last year at least. I remember pointing it out to the group I was with last summer. It's nothing unusual for KD, their arbor care is abysmal. Planet Snoopy had a completely barren tree (not one single leaf) sticking out of the middle of the pathway last year also, and last I checked it still hasn't been removed. There are several trees around the park that are dead or half dead, and needed removal or major pruning and care a long time ago, they just don't seem to care. There are actually very few trees in the park in which I can say are growing in a healthy fashion, and that includes recent plantings. KD needs to understand that trees are not a "plant it and forget about it" type plant, they still need monitoring and care.

While I wouldn't call it abysmal (trees die at places where I live all the time), KD's arbor care isn't nearly up to BGW's standards. For instance, it looks like almost a quarter of the trees that the park planted in the lawn surrounding Delirium have already died, or are close to death.

I would love to go into this more in the shrubbery thread, but their arbor care is very bad, maybe not as bad as it gets, but pretty bad. Leaving dead trees up for years is simply unnacceptable. The best things I can say for them is that they don't commit Crape Murder, nor do they usually plant things with tree volcanoes. (I could explain those terms if we were to start a conversation in the shrubbery thread)

It's going to end up looking like Kings Island's Eiffel Tower.

I just looked at a photo of Kings Island International Street today, and that was the first thing I noticed. I would prefer KD's dead trees over hardly any trees at all.

I went up the tower today and on the ride up and back noticed there was a decent amount of chipped paint and visible rust in the middle. Does anyone remember when it was painted last? It really is starting to look like it's time to be redone.

I agree! Lots of corrosion from the mid section up. It really doesn’t make you feel at ease when going to the top. Many of the crossmembers look like they should be replaced before something bad happens.

The tower was last fully painted in 2000. It is "supposed" to be repainted every 10 years, according to the park.

Are they finally painting it the color of the actual Eiffel Tower or just keeping it ugly turquoise?
