I just posted some articles about him in the History section.
We have not been Easter weekend in many years but yesterday was a sad day in das Festhaus - the staff seemed to be moving at a snails pace and completely oblivious to their surroundings and how to do their jobs.
The food was even sadder - the red cabbage and potato salad were bland - the ribs - just don’t - sausage was fine. Lastly though the carrot cake my daughter and I always look forward to was the knife in the heart. Dry, with barely a smooth spread of icing. ?

We ate in the Festhaus tonight. (Mainly bc my dad doesn't consider it an actual trip to the park if we don't eat here.) And wow, it was /awful/.
It was about 6:15ish when we got in line. My dad gets the sausage sampler, and tonight they were out of smoked sausage and the potato salad. My dad asked to see when they'd get more potato salad, as he doesn't eat the red cabbage. And the employee said she didn't know. She did offer him chips instead.
As for me, I got the corned beef sandwich. It was also wildly disappointing. The bread was stale, the chips were stale, the sandwhich barely had meat.
It was 100% not worth any of the money I paid for the meal.

No potato salad?! That's the whole reason to eat there.
All the lines are now self service for drinks and the beer stall out front is finished. I think it blends in well and lines seem to move quickly.
Yes it's more practical, time efficient, and cost efficient.
But man do I wish there was still a sweet old man to ask me what I'd like to drink this evening.

Does anyone know when they revamped the menu? We were at the park this weekend and ate at Festhaus and noticed that zero entrees come with red cabbage anymore. It must be bought as a side. Example, the sausage sampler now comes with just german potatoes and sauerkraut as a "garnish."
You can still swap it. I just did the other day. It's just not a standard side.
Swapping sides is always dependant on the team member, Ive been told no swapping of any item, sometimes just certain items and then times they have swaped out for things I know they shouldnt.
I don’t think they have sweet tea anymore, I was looking for it but it’s not at the self service counter, and I didn’t see a container in the back. They don’t even have the Gold Peak ones in the fridges anymore, just unsweet tea.

My wife got sweet tea, on Saturday, at the Smokehouse if you need your fix.

When did they remove items from the menu and change things? Was there early June and everything normal and then this weekend POW, the German sampler gone. No photos or anything. As if it were never there. Then they swapped the chips that cone come with the turkey sandwich for literally four pieces of fruit. Utterly disappointing and will be contacting then about it. Soon there won't be anything left but American theme park food.
The menu is always pared down and simplified during HOS from the spring and summer. It's happened every year for as long as can be remembered. It helps to increase the speed of lines and simplifies food production to keep up with demand.
