RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

I thought the scenic painting was bad walking through. All lit up and having the time to really see it adds a whole new dimension of bad.

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

I will say I didn't notice the painted weapons until I saw CK snapping a pic of them.

EDIT: Not sure if anyone else noticed the terrible fluffy foam glue stuff in the Captain's Quarters. You can see parts of it in CK's picture. I tried to point it out to him but he was so "in the zone" when it comes to his pictures :p

I did Cut Throt Cove twice this year, once on the first weekend before the sun started setting, and then once this past weekend just before the park closed. The lines we way better when the park neared closing time.

This was so much better in the dark. Going through the area with sheets and strobe lights really disoriented me and I got confused as to where the walls were even as my fiance was a few steps if front of me (but isn't that the idea).

I found that there were more then a few places where I tripped because I couldn't see that there was a slight lip where the boardwalk met the buildings in doorways. I don't recall that happening during the day.

The Bamboo sticks made from I guess PVC pipe, foam, and zip ties were pretty inventive, but could have used some paint. In the dark you can't tell but during the day they look shabby.

I thought the scarers on this maze were the best aside from the ladies in the bathroom at Deadline.

This and Root are my favorie mazes so far this year. Going back later, closer to Halloween, so we will see if the scare is amped up. :)

While I'm siked for the new ride and all, by the time BG can put alot of money to this maze and give it proper justice(no bad painting stuff), they'll just tear it down for the new maze...After all, this is the best place to put a station, or, if its a dark ride, the entrance to the building.

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

Has anyone been back through? I'm curious as to other peoples reaction to this maze, as I've heard rumors of corporate loving it(not just Scott) and what not. Also, I heard the energy is more revved and the pirates are being even more in your face and brutal(which is a god thing in my opinion.) I went through the maze, and as a doctor who fan, I was easilly able to see past bad decor/set design and see what was being displayed. A story. This maze, i think, isnt suppose to be "Scary" but rather adventurous and fun. CTC is an example of something that relies on the Scare Squad members performances as a whole. maybe this is just my late night ranting, but I really enjoyed the maze, but I wanna know if these rumors from my source from inside are true or rather lies.

With all that said, If CTC did return, it will need a hell of a lot more refurb and attention detail, and no more painted boxes and barrels. I know they changed the maze design like 3 times and had a crappy budget, but seriously. A refurb will be needed for another year.

Also, I heard CTC is doing better then bitten, but once again, those are just rumors.

I highly doubt corporate or Scott loves this maze in fact, I would like to think they hate it. As it has been said many times through pirates are not scary, and taking one of my friends through it, she thought it was funny. Pirates are cool no doubt about that, but they just simply are so scary. Now living skeleton pirates are a bit more scary, not as scary, but still somewhat there.

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

Apparently, Scott was the one who wanted this done in the first place, and when corporate came by reportedly said they "loved it" according to my source(i know it sound scorny but i must protect indivudals identities!) Also, its to the point, i think, theyve accepted they arent scary, so they try and convey a story while trying to startle and entertain. Theyre working with the blunderbuss shot to the face theyve been given, and i think, as far as im concerned did a damn fine job at doing what they can.

One pirate reportedly did the equivalent of, like, four monster energy drinks through the night in order to be as crazy and wild as he could be, and he told me "It got to the point I thought I could see sound". I couldnt tell if he was joking or not.

Say what you will, 90% of the pirates enjoy their work fully, while the others dont, but hey, I think thats with any maze.(also most are dropboxes) .

I didn't mean to sound as if it were a bad house. It really isn't. In fact, I like CTC because if anything it makes for a good starter house. It doesn't have the blood and guts and gore that most houses use, with a few exceptions. It also isn't something that is utterly terrifying. It is a great house to "test the waters" in my opinion especially with the option of going through while its still light outside.

I personally, think the house is just below par with all the other houses, but in the eyes of a child, it could really get them into loving houses and really take that extra step forward. I applaud the park for being able to provide that house. In fact, I wish they had this house when I was first getting into houses. I remember my first house ever was Bitten back when it was it's first year. I was nervous, but I was able to get through it.

I was much more accepting of Harvest Hollow and Cursed because they were outdoors, and they were great starter houses. So in all honesty, CTC is a great house in its own way.

I am more shocked corporate would say they loved it though; however, hearing Scott loved it would be more believable out of the two. Not saying your wrong, but just saying its odd. The only problem with rumors like that, is its hard to prove them and then when we have a rumor battling another rumor things get crazy.

I do think if the house were to return, it would need major renovation to keep it alive.

Ha...I see what you did there...pirate puns...

My opinion is a bit biased as I have only been through Deadline and CTC this year.

I think what they need in the round by the festa bridge, or in festa italia itself is a pirate band, who play sea shanties and what not. I know some CTC pirates use sea shanties to warm up and feel piratey and it does set a mood for a fun time.

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

I thought it was good. We went a couple weeks ago and they got me GOOD!! We went last saturday and there were a few scares, but it's still a good maze, imo. :)

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

I find it funny that you all love this house. I thought it was terrible. Very few scares, not good hiding places and about a billion different things wacking you in the face. Seriously why did they hang random strips of foam? Then again, I didn't think Blood Banquet was anything special either. Maybe it's just me.

It's "okay", certainly better than what I was expecting. The problem is that BGW shouldn't be aiming for "okay".

Griff brings up a good point though. The park has this weird fetish when it comes to hitting you in the face with things. KD did it, bit it was little enough to have an effect. BGW is using it as a crutch instead of trying to actually be scary.

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

I say we hang Scott by all the dangly bits...god knows theres enough. no even the scare squad members! Especially in the torture area, it erodes away on their face and gets stuck on them, and in their makeup. guests have gotten caught on some pieces...Luckilly, now that the rain has past some of the good hiding spots are available now. Also, keep in mind, there are a lot of first year Scare Squad members in the maze, or people with less than three years.

I've heard it said that, aside from decoration or whatever, the dingle dangles are there for distraction. I suppose the idea is that a guest will try to avoid getting stuff in their face. When they duck, dodge, say EEEWWW, stagger, stagger, crawl...ROLL, then that would be an opportune time to scare them. Though I'm pretty sure if this is the case, then it isn't taken advantage of like it could be.

I would have to say my friends enjoyed the house, but that's because two of them are big chickens. Another friend enjoyed the pirates, they aren't scary in the slightest.

One came up to a friend who was walking along side me, in Ports of Skull, and asked her where she was going, and she replied "I don't know." and there was good banter to be had. Another friend in Cut Throat Cove had a pirate come up to her and yell "BUT YOU SAID YOU LOVED ME." Which was rather funny, but not scary.

It's entertaining sure, and it's a rather nice starter house, but it's over all not scary. i think the actors enjoy being pirates for the sake of being pirates.

(and they really need to cut back on the stuff than hangs down. It's rather annoying. Also was it just me, or did they seem to paint the step ups and downs, that were originally unmarked?)

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

Yes, the "You said you love me" guy is someone I know. He was high on energy drinks XD people said we needed more energy so...yeah. He was acting drunk, and what not. Its to that point, the scarers are saying whatever man, lets just have fun. When scarers say that, honestly, some of their best performances can be seen. You can tell when theyre enjoying their job and when theyre not. But like i said before, they know they arent as scary as other mazes, so they make it as entertaining as possible, which covers for their lack of scaryness. Also, be prepared for the last weekend, rumor has it vampires will invade CTC. Also, a pirate i know is writing a theme for cutthroat cove, that he and a few others may sing in the maze, when appropiate.

RE: Cut Throat Cove (2013 to Present)

Not to ruin the spirit, but the reason they were running was the stage manager was coming back to yell at them, as he had just got done yelling (and firing) some of the Port of Skulls pirates. apparently some thought it would be a good idea to ride battering ram, then go on Deadline!
