My 4-year-old nephew was very sad to find out that the ride closed. I think it's amazing that I often saw kids that look 10 or older who cry at the sight of it, yet this was my 4-year-old nephew's favorite ride in the park. I only hope that he loves Battle for Eire.

Needless to say, he looked even more confused when I told him that Santa would be there at Christmastime. (He wasn't there last Christmas, so he didn't know.)

He looked at the creepy castle behind me and looked back at me like I was telling him a big fib. ;) Kids are way smarter than Busch Gardens seems to realize.

We sat Saturday to watch the people going through the closed gate. No signage to explain it's closed (let alone it's gone forever) so most assumed they should walk in. After some wondering around, security eventually came at sent them away. They passed and we heard them say "I guess is closed for today." Congrats BGW for another well handled situation. I mean SOME kind of sign to explain ANYTHING is how hard?

Whitewashed, stripped naked, and closed. Axe, clock, ice, wolves and some shrubbery on the side are gone. I'm surprised they let the shields stay.

Can someone please put up a velvet rope at the gate and add a sign that says: "Closed until fall/winter" or something like that?

I completely agree. It is very unceremonious. I am glad that they at least made it look presentable, in spite of looking incomplete and temporary. Tampa typically just leaves their closed attractions standing to rot, sometimes in plain sight. However, that's mostly when they don't have any concrete future plans. That almost seems to be the case here, given the last-minute nature of the closure.

The problem with making it presentable is that it draws more people. Most guests see fresh paint and think "refurbishments/new ride". I am glad that it's not boarded up, but maybe a sign explaining plans for an upcoming event space would be helpful. As I said before, the problem might be that they don't know when it will be used, or what it will be used for.

Either way, I'm sure they don't want to create a sign that reminds people of a SBNO attraction without an announced replacement. I think they even tried to avoid doing such a thing for the longest time with The Big Bad Wolf. I just hope they find something to do with it soon, and that it won't be too painful to watch.

it will definitely be missed on our upcoming trip. I hope they find a really good use for the area. I hope that if they do use it for something like Santa it wont terribly bog down that area during CT.

They used it last season for Santa and had no affect on the area. I do miss being able to casually walk by and see him in his workshop.

I know!  My favorite game was playing "Cry or No Cry" as the kids sat on Santa's lap!  Now I can't see Santa or the elves.

Hahaha, you said that and David Sedaris's Santaland story instantly popped into my head.

I must say, that made that part of the park more magical at Christmas, nothing made the night more than to walk by and get a wave from Santa in between kids. In a way it reminded me of the days gone by when Santa would be at the local store with windows decorated for the season. As cheesy as the Christmas props were in those two windows thats what it was all about. When you get older and your kids are too old for Santa anymore it was always nice to stand there a minute and think back to when you were the parent in that line and everything of the season revolved around those perfect gifts. Now Santa hides in a dark imposing castle, far from the eyes of most park guests just taking a stroll through the winter wonderland.

Not sure how well this is going to go over with some people but I thought I would report it.

4/18/2018 DEMO OF SCENIC WALLS, RIDE RAIL, AND STEEL STRUCTURE IN DARKCASTLE RIDE BUILDING.

This is extremely interesting that the park is choosing to remove the rail from the building. I genuinely thought they would re-utilize the ride system and track layout as it's still fairly modern. Spiderman and Transformers both use a slightly more complicated version and are still considered cutting edge.

The only option if this is building is re-purposed once again as dark ride space is a trackless ride system. Then again after the flop Antarctica was with a decrease in attendance I question if the park would be willing to do this. Either way, some extremely interesting developments are coming out of the Burg.
