Masks work (read: not horsecrap).

Masks were required all last summer at open parks all over the country—many of which where in hotter areas than BGW.

Masks are far and away most efficacious when worn to prevent droplet transmission from the wearer.

Wearing a mask at BGW is optional. You are not required to attend BGW. You can go and wear a mask or you can not go and not wear a mask. Freedom!
Masks are bad for my health, and millions of others. You want to wear one, go ahead. But you are sadly mistaken if you think that people are gonna wear it in certain conditions and if you think they “work”. Tyranny, communism doesn’t work either.

Honestly, I don't understand the dislike reacts your post received. With reports of Northam ending a substantial amount of COVID restrictions next month - coupled with the fact that he already permits patrons to visit outdoor facilities without wearing masks - and also coupled with the continually increasing vaccination rates in Virginia - I don't see why there's a problem with your suggestion that the park makes masks optional this summer.

His post deserves dislikes for his calling mask requirements "horsecrap." We all look forward to the day masks are no longer required. It is one thing to question when they'll no longer be required, it is another thing entirely to pretend like they don't serve an important public health purpose during a pandemic.

Yeah okay, I want to clarify that I defended your earlier point about masking masks optional in the park later this year - but for reasons in line with Northam's new policies, increasing vaccination rates, and the CDC's latest guidance about mask-wearing outside as vaccinations continue. I definitely want to distance myself from the stuff you're saying now though.

Dislike it if you want, but the reality is that millions of people feel the same way as me. People can make their own responsible decisions for themselves. You want to wear one, wear one, if you don’t want to then don’t.

Hi Zachary,
Any chance I could message you directly or speak directly to you about the current park atmosphere and environment ? Thanks

Anyone can message me for any reason.

I'm sorry to hear that you (almost certainly baselessly) believe masks are bad for your health. Unfortunately you will need to stay home until masks are no longer required at theme parks. Hopefully you'll be able to visit again soon!

Keep in mind that I'm currently walking through Universal Studios where everyone I see is wearing their masks on a hot, sunny, Florida day. Last year I visited Disney and Universal parks multiple times at the absolute peak of the summer (July) and guess what? Masks were required and enforced! People still did visit (and currently are visiting) in droves. It seems to me that your health issue, though unfortunate, is pretty niche.

Theme parks are private businesses who can require you to wear a mask for any reason if they want to. Masks are required, so if you visit, you will need to wear one. Sorry!

You just said they are optional and no I will not be wearing one. It’s bad for my health and it’s also my choice if I want to or not. Just like if I want to wear a blue shirt or a red shirt. My choice

First time back to the park since the panorama and it was better than expected. Lines were very manageable (besides Verbolten - still not double loading...) and Food & Wine booths didn't look too bad.

But my GOD, I want vaccine passports for the park because 35-40% of people don't wear their masks correctly and it drove me a little crazy.
Vaccine passports !? Oh my lord. ??‍♂️

Chosing to subject yourself to the park's rules by visiting the park when masks are required is a choice. Wearing a mask at BGW is optional. Wearing a mask while attending BGW is not optional. No one is forcing you to visit, but if you decide to, you must comply with park policy.

Just like you can't bring a knife into the park, you have to comply with the park's dress code, and you can't line jump, you also must wear a mask. Simple, straightforward park policy that you agree to comply with when you enter the gate.

Perhaps you don't understand the science behind mask wearing. You don't wear them just for yourself. You wear them to help protect the entire community by slowing the spread. Only a narcissist would knowingly choose not to do something simple that would help everyone around him.

Also, you seem to be misunderstanding @Zachary. Wearing a mask at BGW is not optional. Going to the park is optional. You can opt out of the mask, by skipping the trip to BGW.

Given the crowds, I don't think they are hurting their business by enforcing health safety standards.

So you want to call me names, go for it. I could call you a sheep but I won’t. I’m allowed to not believe in all this non proven science just like you are allowed to buy it. You can’t speak for everyone’s health, only your own. I can make responsible decisions for my own health, don’t need it from a stranger.

Masks work, and I don’t buy this crap that there’s so many people that can’t wear one. I’ve suffered from so many sinus infections in the past year and worked hard with my doctors to research masks endlessly. Finally I found one that’s structured so it doesn’t sit on your lips and has replaceable filters inside so on high pollen days I can change it out and avoid an infection.

I didn't call you names, unless you self-identify as someone who won't do simple things to help the community. I was clearly speaking in general.

And the nature of science is that little, if anything, is ever "proven." That is the nature of rigorous hypothesis testing. The current policies are, however, based on the best data scientists have. That is much more reliable than feelings based on personal preference, politics, or faith.

faith over fear and freedom over agendas. There is more science against masks than for masks by the way.

Dude chill out. This is a theme park forum. Nobody else on this forum is acting like you.
I don’t agree with him but just a few days ago there was a post saying something along the lines that said “can’t wait till BGW forces vaccine passports” which is pretty much the opposite of him so
