This type of binary thinking is what prevents actual problem solving and allows existing problems to fester. One can be a supporter of free markets and still understand there are instances where free markets either will not work or will not be optimal if not reigned in by other policy. Economics is inherently messy and cannot be put into the "either/or" box that today's polarized society attempts to fit it into. Even Adam Smith (the big "free markets guy") understood this and discussed potential problems inherent with the free market in his book, The Wealth of Nations. Good economists understand that there is no binary right or wrong answer in their field, which is why even those with opposing theories still respect each other's work and learn from each other. They realize there will always be exceptions and problems with any "pure" theory, and that no pure theory will work in practice. John Maynard Keynes and Friedrich Hayek are two of the most famous examples of men with opposing theories and neither of these theories is completely "right" or completely "wrong." A combination of their theories, among many other (often conflicting) theories are used in practical economic problem solving.

My point is that it's dangerous to conflate economic thinking with binary political thinking. Economic problem solving would function much better if the wrench of politics weren't constantly thrown at it.

A significant portion of our population thinks the free market is ALWAYS better. I think he was just pointing out how clearly that isn't true. I doubt he's advocating for actually running it into the ground.

This was exactly my point - the political polarization of society has created a population with a binary mindset of either "pure free market" or "pure government control" rather than objective economic thinking. Regardless of an intent, or lack thereof, to advocate anything, comments such as suggesting running it into the ground are unnecessary, appeared to be putting words into @Joe 's mouth, and result in nothing productive.

I took it as a tongue-in-cheek comment, but I get your point.

Yeah. Some people read WAY too far into the comment. My point was that we can’t just stick to our purely ideological guns in a time like this.

Back to BGW.

I never knew that. I feel like this is a good time for them to make a BTS video showing what happens. 1 it’s a feel good story in a time of crisis and 2 it will make people want to spend money with them.
I think they have done posts and videos about it after Christmas Town before

I was also reading where construction companies are stopping work becuase if a worker gets sick its a reportable injury/illness. They dont want that on them. Dont know if this will stop pantheon but im guessing it will.
No reflection on you (seriously) but with all the myths, misinformation, etc. about this pandemic I hope that any "I've read" "I heard" etc. posts be accompanied by a credible source article/link.

This is no myth, if you get injured or sick at work its reportable to OSHA.

I wasn't questioning the OSHA aspect. In your now (deleted) post you said "I was also reading where construction companies....". I just asked IN GENERAL that if you're making a claim to back it up with a credible source article/link. It's that too much to ask?

Construction would be one of those fields that could implement social distancing and sanitation rules much easier than others. The main issue may be requiring smaller crews to work an area which would slow down the schedule, but I don't see why construction jobs would stop wholesale.

Yea, I deleted it. I wasn’t going back a couple days and searching for the specific article that I read this in. News is coming out so fast who can keep up. I read it.....

Adding an extra mint to a pass purchased with and end date when they are closed. Winning!
