I think this weekend should be called off....they can announce that it will be reevaluated next week and a decision made then for the following weekend. Williamsburg schools are now closed as well. There really shouldnt be that much to discuss this morning for SEAS chain wide......they could call it now so everyone can plan, guests, employees, everyone. Believe me I would love nothing more than to be there at 7am tomorrow morning lined up at the ticket booth but at this point I could understand. Heck look at past times they have closed for weather, some days it was just light rain but they closed because of the possibility of severe weather.
I can't remember the park actually closed for weather. They have closed early but I don't remember the last time they just said we aren't opening because of the weather. They aren't KD.I think this is a super important.
I believe it makes the park leadership look more concerned about the Parks’s bottom line than the health and welfare of their employees and guests. They close for weather, when they know attendance will be light; but they stay open during a worldwide pandemic, when they probably anticipate large crowds. This seems even more egregious in light of the fact that right now everyone is being told to practice social distancing to stem the spread of the virus.
When was the last hurricane that came through?I can't remember the park actually closed for weather. They have closed early but I don't remember the last time they just said we aren't opening because of the weather. They aren't KD.
That's fair, I didn't consider that. I just meant heavy rain or general inclement weather. When was the last hurricane that came through?
One of those days was when a water main broke a couple or three years agoI also recall in the fog of my memory a Xmas snow closure or two...
That wasn't weather though. One of those days was when a water main broke a couple or three years ago
I think the pressure on BGW to close is massive and maybe insurmountable at this point.
Honestly, it would have been better _and_ less costly to bite the bullet and announce closure yesterday.
At this point; most hotel check-ins open at 3:00. So it is fair to guess that people are already headed towards Williamsburg expecting to attend tomorrow.
Assuming BGW closes, they'll be faced with angry people out travel and hotel room money that could have been avoided by closing before travel occurred.
Bad loophole though:
Most travel insurance doesn’t include destination closures due to pandemics.
Understood perfectly. What I'm saying is, instead of calling their travel insurance, they'll be overwhelming SEAS customer support demanding reimbursement... And they'll be partly right in that if BGW closed earlier they wouldn't be out the money.
BGW is not responsible for that though. I had tickets to a Sixers game and a hotel this weekend. I got to the city before the NBA closed down. They don’t owe me shit.
